  1. I'd start with a good recoil pad on it. If you think your flinch is bad now, just try directing all that sound and muzzle blast back towards you!
  2. I just watched the videos on their site. Pretty impressive. But, I couldn't find a fire rating on it. Anybody know how long it will hold up in a fire? Where is our resident safe guy?
  3. What about direct from Surefire? They used to be pretty reasonable when you order in dozens.
  4. I've never seen Oberman be fair about any story he does. He's a jerk!!!
  5. That's one of those "Cash for Clunkers" cars. You always wondered what they did with them.
  6. I hate when the plastic worms melt in your box.
  7. .38's are cheap and easy to reload. Now you have the perfect excuse to start reloading.
  8. You need to train where they shoot rain or shine. A little mud never hurt anybody. There are several vendors on here that teach in the Nashville area. Try CIS. I know they are good to go.
  9. Thank you for your kind offer to help Caleb. Here are things that he(and every other reloader) needs. Bullets- He loads .30-30, 30-06, .223 and now 9mm. Brass- All of the above calibers. Powder- He needs Win 748 or some other good .223 powder. Primers- Never has enough. Large, small and 209 for shotgun. Shot- He wants to get on his school trap team, so is shooting a lot of 12 ga. Misc Items- Case lube, CLP and other cleaning stuff. Better press- He's using a 30 year old RCBS Jr that I gave him. Scale- He has a Lee beam scale(junk) and a non-functioning electronic that someone on another board sent him. So there is a "wish list" for Caleb. If you can help with anything, Caleb will really appreciate it. He is also trying to learn amateur gunsmithing, so screwdrivers, punch sets and small hammers would help him. Anyone wanting to help Caleb, please let me know and I'll PM you his address. Thanks!
  10. I believe he has some, not sure how much. If you would like to send him some, I'll PM you his address.
  11. I think I saw it in the showcase yesterday.
  12. Jason, It seems he has most of the basics now. It seems he is always short on powder and bullets. I know we can't ship him powder, but I can hand deliver it if anyone wants to donate some. KahrMan donated some rifle powder back last summer and I delivered it when I visited Caleb. Bullets or other "reloading goodies" can be mailed to him. If anyone is interested in helping Caleb, just PM me for his address.
  13. Ok, it's been a while since we had a Caleb update. Today Caleb received a package from our own kb4ns in Memphis. He was kind enough to send Caleb a set of Lee 9mm dies to help get him started in loading some pistol rounds. Caleb's dad has a Ruger 9mm and doesn't shoot it due to the ammo price. So now Caleb will be able to start loading for his Dad. Thank you again, kb4ns. Here is a pic of Caleb when he received the dies.
  14. The Gearslingers have the "cool factor" but the PFII has two shoulder straps. I don't see the appeal of putting all the weight on one shoulder.
  15. I hope the city loses and they have to take them down all over TN.
  16. I shot this rifle on Friday. The extractor seems fine. The ejector is denting/scraping the case head on the headstamp. It is extracting fine and throws the brass from 2-3 oclock and about 5 feet. No jams. This is a funny situation. When you ask 10 "experts" about it, you get 10 different answers. At the gun show, we heard everything from: Shoot the p*** out of it, it's fine! To: I'd send it back to Bushmaster, your barrel is torqued too tight. And everything in between. I think Sidewinder should start cheap(replace ejector and spring) and work his way up. It shoots fine, ejects fine, it just gouges the brass. Mike
  17. Had one that fired roll caps back in the early 60's.
  18. I crimp all my auto rounds with the Lee FCD. They always chamber now. Didn't always when using seat/crimp in one operation. Take a look at the Lee Reloading manual. It's very good. Also the Lyman 49th Edition.
  19. That's pretty cool, but very high priced. I'd say you could buy a similar bag here in Nashville for about $50. They don't show the inside, but unless it had lots of pouches and tiedowns, it would be cheaper to use a locally available bag.
  20. Thanks, MacGyver. Let me see if one shows up here in the 'Boro first.
  21. At the gun show yesterday, I bought a "Golf Ball Launcher" for my AR. The problem is that it won't thread on. It's like the threads don't quite open up at the end to accept my barrel threads. I know it is the correct size and threads, because I was able to turn it around and thread it on from the inside of the tube. I just need someone with a 1/2 x28 tap to clean out the threads. So does anyone around Murfreesboro have a tap I can borrow for 2 minutes? Thanks.
  22. Here is a good simple online calculator for reloading cost per round. Handloading Cost Calculator
