  1. Thanks Broomhead. Good explanation.
  2. Does anyone know of a local source for 1911 grip screws? I went and shot my new RIA on Saturday, and came back with one missing. Local= Murfreesboro/Nashville
  3. Wow! This may be a new thread resurrection record. 3 1/2 years!!!!!
  4. Welcome from the 'Boro.
  5. Everybody is making this much harder than it is. The box is with Catdaddy( I think). When he refills the box, he should list it here. List the contents. Then someone can claim it. If you claim it, be prepared to pass it on in a timely manner. This is not that complicated!!!!
  6. Ok, where is "The Box"? For the new guys, you have to take the entire box. Take out what you want, replace the number of items you took, and re-list the contents in this thread so it can be claimed. There is no "waiting list" on this. List it here and let the first person to respond have it. Thanks, Mike
  7. He really could use a display case for a few guns. Would save him running to the back everytime somebody wants to look at a gun.
  8. I have a friend that sold his PPK and bought a PK. He loves his. It's big and kinda heavy, but he says it's really accurate. The PPK always stung his hand every time he fired it.
  9. That place will surprise you. From the outside, you would never know they sold guns. I bought a RIA Compact Tactical last week and I'm taking a friend back on Tuesday for him to get one.
  10. Here is the email exchange I had with the scammer and GOC: The following is in response to Post number 46732 from: xxxxxxxxxx@hotmail.com ================================================ I'm very interested in your Kimber. I am a cash buyer. Where could we meet to see it? From: kkpef@hotmail.com To: xxxxxxxxxxx @hotmail.com Subject: RE: Reply to your post on GOC [Ad #46732] Date: Thu, 3 Jun 2010 15:25:03 +0000 Thats fine...I live in Norfolk, NE...can you drive down to receive it or i cover shipping cost to you? I'm a military man so shipping is no problem, if you want i can send a copy of my ID so you know the kind of person you are dealing with. Thanks. On Thu, 3 Jun 2010 10:45:08 -0500, Dear GOC, I think this man is running a scam. The ad and gun he is using on GOC is word for word the same ad and pictures as on a Penn. gun site. Please remove his ads and account before someone loses a lot of money on him. Thanks, GOC wrote me today: The user's ads have been removed and the user account banned.
  11. I posted this warning on GOC back on May 6th: "There are numerous scammers operating on this board. One is located in Poland. He takes ads from Gunbroker and other sites, copies them word for word and even uses the original photos. I've found 3 today on here. If the town doesn't exist in TN and the zip code is in another state, just take a part of the text and google it. You will find the original ad. " Everytime I find an ad like the Commander you tried to buy, I flag it, and email the GOC owners to remove it. For a while they did remove the ads quickly. Now it just seems like they ignore my emails. The scammers are easy to spot. Town and zip code don't match. Price is too low. When you get the first email from the seller, he says he is in another state/country and will ship you the gun. Just send the money by Western Union or similar. By this time you should be running in the other direction as fast as possible. I've found dozens of them on GOC. Good luck with yours.
  12. Range update. Went to break in my new Rock and broke it instead. Fired 2 rounds and it locked up solid. I liked to never got it apart. The recoil spring reverse plug slipped out of it's place in the slide which put the guide rod in a bind. Must have happened on the first shot. Shot number 2 put a gouge on the plug which kept it from sliding back into the slide recess. Got home, called Arnel in Nevada. He said he would send me another plug. He also said if the plug was not seated properly, it would do that. I think I had it seated properly, as the plug and rod were flush with the muzzle. After shot 2, the rod was sticking out about a half inch. Since a new part was coming, I filed the oop's off of the plug and reinstalled. Was only able to fire it 3 times in my yard, but seems fine now. I'll see what a real range session reveals. Here is the part.
  13. About all I plan on doing to my Rock is getting some grips that are "stickier". I bet these smooth grips will be slippery when wet or sweaty.
  14. I went by and saw Phil today. I too bought a Rock Island Compact Tactical. When Phil took it out of the box and plastic bag, it was dripping with oil. I guess they wanted to make sure it didn't rust on the boat trip over. Took it home and got all the excess off and relubed it. Hope to get out and shoot it this weekend. BTW, it has a better trigger than my Springfield Loaded Model.
  15. I never exceed the manufacturers published data. I know it has gotten more conservative due to lawyers and liability, but i figure the powder companies know best. You might look for older data. It is usually higher in grains, pressure and velocity. Good luck.
  16. That's really cool camo, but doesn't the overspray get on the couch and carpet?
  17. Ok, see you there. Hope we have a big turnout.
  18. .44 Long Colt might be very rare and hard to find if it even exists. Did you happen to mean .45 Long Colt?
  19. Here is the 2 1/2.
  20. If I remember correctly, 19's always came with the S&W Target Stocks if it was a 4". I think for the 2 1/2" it was the smaller wooden grips.
  21. Every AR I've ever seen, ran better wet than dry. But, if you are only shooting 100 rounds between cleanings, it probably doesn't matter that much.
  22. Google "Ed's Red". Sounds like you have a "lite" version of that. I went to high temp wheel bearing grease on all my AR's. Won't get thin and burn off in a really hot gun during mag dumps.
  23. I haven't seen a steak like that in a loooong time.!
  24. Here is the pic.
  25. Welcome from the 'Boro.
