  1. I did go see Phil. That's where I bought it. Edit: Oh, I get it. The other Phil.
  2. Well, it very well could have been my fault that this happened. If I didn't seat the plug properly on reassembly, this could happen. Hasn't happened again. They sent the new plug and it's shooting great. And I doubt I could have gotten it any cheaper anywhere else.
  3. The old MAC suppressors back in the 70's had a Nomex cover that stayed on all the time. I can't recall how hot they got through the cover though.
  4. I'll have to look up the technical term, "jacked" to determine what is wrong.
  5. +1 Really like the 230 yard 1911 video! And your Steve Lee vid's. Pretty cool!
  6. I didn't read anything in the thread to imply he had overloaded the rounds. It appears that the gun fired while out of battery. Now this could have been due to a high primer, or could have been a stuck firing pin. No one knows yet. So it is too early to blame a bad reload on this accident. The shooter was in the process of closing the bolt when it went off. Here are some quotes from the thread: "I wonder what those numbers on the shell casings represent? The powder charge? Looks like .50 DTC. Those numbers would be consistent with powder charges for this round. Looks like he was working up a load. " "It appears that it was an OOBD. It could have been caused by any one of several reasons such as a high primer, a stuck firing pin, etc." "Round fired w/o the bolt being 100% closed. Him hammering the bolt caused an out of battery explosion of considerable magnitude." "the shooter had his left hand on the upper receiver holding it and his right hand racking the bolt. for some reason there’s a small 1/8 hole on the side of the upper, and this shot a piece of brass into his left hand. the right hand was damaged from the blast/shrapnel. the accident happened upon loading the gun. "
  7. I'll be coordinating the Rutherford County Flood Damaged Ammo Disposal Program(RCFDADP for short). You may PM me for pickup in the Rutherford County area.
  8. I read all 7 pages of the thread. What is your point?
  9. With most semi auto handguns, when the slide locks back on empty mag, you eject mag, insert mag, grab slide(either overhand or from rear), and "slingshot" it back into battery. With the 22/45, you have to push down on the slide lock button to release the slide. For people wanting to train with the 22/45 just like their 1911, they may want to slingshot rather than pushing the slide release. That is the only reason for the mod. It is easy to do, but mine is too stiff still to work that way. Hope this helps. http://www.guntalk-online.com/2245detailstripping.htm#ssmod
  10. I saw where one blew up at the Los Angeles shooting range recently. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=258040
  11. I just did the slingshot mod and the bolt release is supposed to gravity fall now, but I think it may need some polishing to make it smooth enough to do that. I too have modded my 10-22's bolt releases. They work well.
  12. I like my 22/45. It's one of my favorites. Did you do the "slingshot mod"? I did, but it still won't slingshot. Have to use the slide release.
  13. 10/22 Magnum Rifle Caliber: .22 Magnum Beginning Serial Number: Years of Production:1998-2006 290-00201 1998 290-04128 1999 290-28414 2000 290-26039 2001 290-30526 2002 290-39916 2003 290-43040 2004 290-44129 2005 290-45656 2006
  14. Sounds like you have been hanging out over on the 1911 boards. Those guys are a little over the top sometimes.
  15. What about them? I know where all the gun shops are. I was just hoping that someone had made a purchase of grip screws at one of them and could tell me which one. I'll just order them from Midway.
  16. Catdaddy, The first person to post AFTER you post the list, should be the one to get it. Not someone who PM'd you a week ago. For this to be fair, it has to be this way. Mike
  17. Welcome. And you are in New Jersey????
  18. Don't know of any, but PM me if you are interested in not only custom made holsters, but cowboy attire. I have a friend that is a custom holster maker and has gotten out of the SASS shooting and has a lot of "stuff" to sell.
  19. Thanks, but he is about 50 miles away from me. I'm just trying to avoid having to order them online.
  20. Thanks. I was hoping that someone had already done the leg work and found some previously. We're kinda short on 1911 stores here in the Boro.
