Well, it very well could have been my fault that this happened. If I didn't seat the plug properly on reassembly, this could happen. Hasn't happened again. They sent the new plug and it's shooting great. And I doubt I could have gotten it any cheaper anywhere else.

The old MAC suppressors back in the 70's had a Nomex cover that stayed on all the time. I can't recall how hot they got through the cover though.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a new mag?

I'll have to look up the technical term, "jacked" to determine what is wrong.

I didn't read anything in the thread to imply he had overloaded the rounds. It appears that the gun fired while out of battery. Now this could have been due to a high primer, or could have been a stuck firing pin. No one knows yet. So it is too early to blame a bad reload on this accident. The shooter was in the process of closing the bolt when it went off. Here are some quotes from the thread: "I wonder what those numbers on the shell casings represent? The powder charge? Looks like .50 DTC. Those numbers would be consistent with powder charges for this round. Looks like he was working up a load. " "It appears that it was an OOBD. It could have been caused by any one of several reasons such as a high primer, a stuck firing pin, etc." "Round fired w/o the bolt being 100% closed. Him hammering the bolt caused an out of battery explosion of considerable magnitude." "the shooter had his left hand on the upper receiver holding it and his right hand racking the bolt. for some reason there’s a small 1/8 hole on the side of the upper, and this shot a piece of brass into his left hand. the right hand was damaged from the blast/shrapnel. the accident happened upon loading the gun. "

With most semi auto handguns, when the slide locks back on empty mag, you eject mag, insert mag, grab slide(either overhand or from rear), and "slingshot" it back into battery. With the 22/45, you have to push down on the slide lock button to release the slide. For people wanting to train with the 22/45 just like their 1911, they may want to slingshot rather than pushing the slide release. That is the only reason for the mod. I just did the slingshot mod and the bolt release is supposed to gravity fall now, but I think it may need some polishing to make it smooth enough to do that. I too have modded my 10-22's bolt releases. They work well.

I like my 22/45. It's one of my favorites. Did you do the "slingshot mod"? I did, but it still won't slingshot. Have to use the slide release.
