  1. When I was a member there were no RSO's, so shooting and moving was ok. I know we did in classes I've been to there.
  2. Nobody has mentioned how long the RB may have to tie it's money up in these guns. They may sit for months before selling. No business can tie up money in a product and not turn it over quickly. In the long run, RB may actually lose money on this deal.
  3. I'm a former member. Got tired of all the stupid rules that the National Guard puts on the range(it is theirs, though). Days to shoot got more and more limited, can't be there alone, got to rake the sand when you are through. It would be a good organization if they had a better place to shoot.
  4. Accurate #5 for the pistol stuff and AA5744 for the 45-70 and all my cast rifle loads. I've started liking Trail Boss for cast loads in .308.
  5. It's called "Ed's Red" and has been used by shooters for many years. I think it was developed for the M1/M14 shooters. Here is a link to some info. Ed's Red Here is a better link with more products. http://www.frfrogspad.com/homemade.htm
  6. I thought it was very disrespectful to the founding fathers.
  7. Their website doesn't give much good info about them. And how do they work with no buffer tube?
  8. Never killed a deer(yet). Would like to try out my 45-70 on one this year though.
  9. I got to meet him and shake his hand back at a SHOT show back in 1980. I wore out a copy of Cooper on Handguns, reading and rereading it back then.
  10. Don't leave a round in the chamber after the gun gets hot. I've shot thousands of rounds in my Bushmaster and the only time they got stuck was when leaving one in the chamber after a couple of mag dumps.
  11. IMO the office of Constable is an outdated position. It serves no use today. Before the HCP was available in TN, people ran for Constable so they could carry a handgun. And they were usually Police/Sheriff wannabes. The ones in my county just wanted to try and impress people with their "powers of office". YMMV.
  12. I know that I have posted since December of 2009, but when I click "My Posts", it only shows ones from last year. I have posted twice this week and they show up, just not the ones from Jan-May 2010. Thanks.
  13. For those who don't want to have to click the link, here is the story. Park ranger honored for water rescue at Shelby Farms lake By Michael Lollar Saturday, June 12, 2010 In four years as a park ranger, Matthew Presley's rescues had been limited to turtles and ducks that wander onto the narrow roadways at Shelby Farms. That was until the start of Memorial Day weekend when he was picking up trash and patrolling near the edge of Pine Lake. Presley, 24, had to tell a couple of young swimmers near the water's edge that swimming is not allowed in the park's 13 lakes. Suddenly, a thrashing near the middle of the lake was accompanied by the shouts of a woman. "He's drowning," the woman yelled, pointing to the commotion in the 22-foot-deep water. Presley yanked off his boots and dived into the murky water. He swam more than 100 yards to rescue a 16-year-old boy who struggled at first, then responded when Presley issued instructions he learned from a Red Cross water rescue course. "Just float on your back. Don't kick," he told the boy. When they reached shore, Presley's fellow ranger, Drew Balton, already had summoned an ambulance. Presley said the rescued boy also was greeted on shore by his grateful father. The teenager and two friends had stripped to their shorts for the swim. As he lay on his side spitting up water before transport to a hospital, the rescued swimmer didn't realize how lucky he was. "I didn't see the snakes until we were back on shore," says Presley. One of the reasons no-swimming signs are posted at the park's lakes is that Shelby Farms is teeming with native animal species, including water moccasins. At the park conservancy, communications manager Jen Andrews told Presley his quick-thinking water rescue was especially brave. "You knew the water moccasins were in there." The park board awarded him and Balton plaques this week, honoring them as heroes, while the Shelby County Commission cited Presley Monday for bravery for saving the life of the teen. Presley, who said he hasn't been able to contact the teenager since the rescue, said that, like the teenager, he didn't stop to think about poisonous snakes when he dived into Pine Lake. "The only thing I was concerned about was getting in there and getting him out." -- Michael Lollar: 529-2793
  14. It's hard to beat a Savage .223 in your price range. I have the model 12 and it's a great shooter at 100 yards.
  15. I heard that the THP is doing a great job of keeping all the Roo traffic on the shoulder and the Interstate open.
  16. I have a Model 18 and a Trout and Bird Knife by Randall. I'll probably end up trading or selling the 18 now that the prices/wait time is so high. No pics yet.
  17. Well I paid $477 out the door, so you would have beat the other Phil by $12. Thanks for the info about the TGO discount. That's good to know.
