  2. What is the cost to attend this meet?
  3. The Wartrace group is a good place to shoot. They have a small western "town" built there as props to shoot from. I used to shoot there until I got out of SASS. It started out as just fun, but then the regulars got "too competitive". They were trying to shave off tenths of a second here and there with expensive gear and gunsmithing. There even started being some cheating on the scoring just to win. Go and have fun, but try not to get caught up in the "competition".
  4. The Smyrna show moved to the Ag Center. The Boro show is the new one.
  5. Always move the rear sight the direction you want the bullet to go.
  6. I still don't get it.
  7. I like them too. I can see if I want to even open the thread before I click on it. I vote to keep them.
  8. I load for the 45-70. My favorite bullet is the Lee 340gr flat point. I use Accurate 5744 as my primary powder. With 25.0gr of 5744, it pushes the 340 out the muzzle at a measured 1200fps. Very mild and accurate. Would even be adequate for deer at shorter range(less than 100 yards).
  9. I just think it is crazy to deface a good knife just to make it look "custom". And the fact that you did it to a Black Jack Knife is even worse. I can't see me pulling a Randall out of the safe and customizing it.
  10. Ok, you first. Show us one of your knives that you have "customized".
  11. You can back those AA5 loads way down if you just want a good plinking load. I use 6.0-6.2 gr of AA5 with both the 230 and 190 gr lead and it is very mild and cycles the action even on my RIA Compact. Doesn't beat the gun up either.
  12. You might want to read this before buying one to carry. The Box O' Truth #41 - The Taurus Judge Vs. The Box O' Truth - Page 1 Penetration with the .410 loads was less than spectacular.
  13. I wrote Alexander and Corker. Those pre-written letters make it easy.
  14. He came close to spattering himself on the rocks a time or two.
  15. And don't pull out one of those crazy Bill of Sale forms without agreeing to it before the meet. I've seen good gun deals go bad over those things!
  16. There is no "next in line". As soon as Broomhead reposts it, the first person to reply with "I'll take it", gets it. No dibs, no me next. Just watch and wait.
  17. Well how was he? I assume that you ate him since you killed him.
  18. That's a great idea. Thanks!

Won't they send you the rings that work? For free?
  20. Looks like it meets the basic requirements for a Scout Rifle as defined by Jeff Cooper. I like it.
  21. No, I just use the published data for TB. I guess if you had an oddball caliber with no data, then the 70% would work as a starting load.
  22. I keep a used dryer sheet in my empty hopper to control static cling. I wipe down the hopper with it too. Been using TB ever since it came out. Good stuff in my .44Spl and 45-70!
  23. Jamie, Sorry, no review as yet. In a nutshell, it is reliable, reasonably accurate, feels like a real 1911(80% of the lower parts will interchange) and is great fun to shoot. I got mine from Phil at Bellshire Hardware.
  24. And why 85% size. If I want a 1911, I don't want a scaled down look a like. My ATI for $300 is working just fine.
