  1. Well the idea was to get it to fit in a USPS Medium Flat Rate Box so the shipping would stay the same for everyone.

I've eaten at buffets that ask you at the checkout line as you come in, how much do you want to tip? They add it to your CC bill and give you the cash to leave on the table.
  3. It is my understanding that a pistol can be built from any virgin lower. One that has never been a rifle. If I buy one from a dealer, he needs to check pistol on the 4473 also. Correct?
  4. That is probably what I will do. I'm going to try and find a virgin lower at the Goodman show this weekend. I can order an upper a lot of places. I was just hoping to find one complete locally.
  5. You have to go there and can it yourself. If you just ordered it, they would have to hire someone to can your food. There are plenty of commercial places on the web to order food. People drive from as far away as Atlanta and Memphis to can their food. You have to can enough to make it worth the drive. These groups that come in from far away like that will take away a truck load of food.
  6. They are very helpful. If you are there alone or with just one other person, they will put you with a group that is doing a large order. Then you can learn as you go. Say you want wheat. When the group starts canning wheat, just say you want 6 cans and start a box with your name on it. As it gets canned, just drop it in your box. The next table may be doing rice. Just tell them how many you want. So you really don't have to be with your product from bag to can. Just help out each other and every one will get what they came for. It's amazing how much food can be canned in a 2 hour block! Here is a link to the "menu" for the cannery. http://www.providentliving.org/pfw/multimedia/files/pfw/pdf/123005_BSS_HS_OrderForm_Jan2011US_ENG_pdf.pdf
  7. Yes, I do have another AR, so it's not like I'll be without. I'm selling the one that has been in the back of the safe unfired for 20 years.
  8. I'll jump in here for Sidewinder since he is not on tonight. I've seen this 110. It is a factory, long action, .223, model 110. It is my understanding that both long and short cartridges were put in the long action before Savage decided to build the model 10. Then the short ones went in there and the long cartridges stayed in the 110. I have a 110 in 25-06 that has the same type of scope situation as Sidewinder. The previous owner of mine used Weaver "extended" rings to set the scope further to the rear. In Sidewinders case, he probably needs the same type of rings. A one piece rail would work well too, just more expensive. Maybe Sidewinder will jump in here in a few minutes.
  9. I was just wondering if anyone here has an AR Pistol? I've wanted one for several years, and just decided it was time to get one/build one. I know they are not practical for much. That the muzzle blast and flame are horrendous. I just thought it would make a fun gun to scope and shoot off a bench at 100 yards. I reload, so I can tailor the ammo to work well in the short barrel. Any opinions? Am I crazy for selling a full size AR to fund a toy like this? I like this one, but with no sights.

I tip servers in restaurants pretty well(15-20%) but nobody else. Servers make the lowest wages in the country and depend on tips. My mailman, carpenter, electrician, etc all make good money. I think tipping has gotten out of hand. Do you know that baggage "skycaps" at the major airports make over 6 figures on tips alone! That $2 a bag that they demand adds up. When I was working, I made the car arrangements, loaded the bags, arranged the catering, served the catering, unloaded the bags, and never got a tip. Somewhere in there I managed to safely fly the airplane, day/night/bad weather. So no, I don't tip many people. But that's just me.
  11. You do have to have an appointment though.
  12. Welcome to TGO. I do miss the really big shows of the past. The ones with two buildings.
  13. LDS=The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints=Mormon. I've been to the cannery many times. It gets very fast paced there! Generally you have a block of time to work in, before another scheduled group comes in. It's very clean and the folks there are helpful.
  14. I bought 3 Scherer mags back during the AWB. They were JUNK! And the guy who sold them to me didn't tell me the whole lot of them were rusted inside.
  15. I never get a flu shot and rarely get sick. I do wash my hands a lot, especially after shaking hands. I don't hug either. I think huggers get sick more too.LOL
  16. Why don't you start a new second box with the stuff you are adding. Just list the contents of box 1 and box 2. They can go to two separate people then. How does that sound to everybody? After you list the contents, the first to respond can have pick of 1 or 2 and the second person can have the remaining box unless they don't want it and someone else can request it.
  17. We could get Tiger Woods and Tom Knapp. Should be an interesting match up!
  18. I would not buy from a seller with only 1 post. Sounds like he joined just to sell stuff here.
  19. Most folks that reload won't do any for other people. Especially people they don't know. On the other side, I won't shoot anybody elses reloads in my guns.
  20. dlm, Will you PM me your recipe? I like 5744 and want to try some subs. Haven't gotten anything to cycle the action though.
  21. I think that Nashville would be more interested in the class if they knew something about the instructor. How about posting your shooting/teaching resume? I looked at your public profile, but it tells me nothing about you.
  22. I have a friend that had all his guns stolen in a home burglary and the NRA insurance paid him $1000 dollars for his loss. That was the max amount of the free insurance that came with his membership. Paid off quick too.
  23. A clear polyurethane sprayed on would make a shiny durable finish.
