  1. The question should be, how much beer could you buy for $189 and drink it out of the bottle?
  2. Very nice! I bet it shoots great too.
  3. I can't be there the two weekends of June 11-12 and 18-19. Any other time is fine and I'll be there.
  4. I just got an email from Buford Tune about the accident. Here it is: This weekend (May 14th, 2011) I was injured in security class when a student’s handgun accidentally discharged in class. I was injured and will require some surgery. Fortunately, no one else was physically injured and my injuries were not life threatening. Several have called to ask what happened and how I was doing. I thought it would be appropriate to share the facts because rumors, even well intended ones, can get out of control. Our longstanding policy is that we tell EVERYONE that they shall NOT bring any loaded firearms, magazines or speed loaders into the classroom. Everyone is required to bring their ammo separate so the firearm, equipment and the ammo can be checked during the class so that potential problems can be addressed before we get to the range. A student violated that rule and brought a handgun (Walther P99, .40 cal) into the classroom with the magazine removed but with a round chambered. The handgun was in a case and he said that the gun was unloaded. I picked up the gun out of the gun case to inspect the handgun and verify the condition and was holding the gun in my right hand and pushed the slide back with my left hand to check the chamber nonetheless. The gun, which has a striker firing mechanism, discharged while being racked. The round struck the first joint of my little finger on my left hand. I always try to be as safe as possible in the classes and on the range. However, accidents do happen and although most accidents can be prevented there will be times when an accident or a malfunction will still happen. We train to anticipate these problems but even that training is not a 100% guarantee that nothing will go wrong. The rumors and the Monday morning Quarterbacks’ have already started. I would like to remind everyone that if you were not here you do not know what happen and if you want the truth and not the rumors and tales call APPS and do not listen to the street talk. Thanks to all of you, Buford
  5. The 59's were the hot item back in the late 70's. I'd feel comfortable carrying one today. Be sure to check the recoil buffer on your Camp 9. The factory originals have a way of disintegrating inside the receiver. There is a good aftermarket buffer available now.
  6. I shoot the Lee 102gr lead, cast out of straight wheelweights, water quenched. I use Accurate #5. Can't recall the amount right now, but it's a nice plinking/practice load. Functions perfectly in my Bersa.
  7. If it is cheap enough, I'd like a few thousand rounds of it to train with.
  8. I like the bigger font. Easy to read.
  9. Watch out for the shady fly by night guys. Had a fellow come by and take down a tree about 3 years ago. It was at Christmas time and he gave me a sob story about needing part of the money today and would be by to finish the cleanup tomorrow. Never came back. Left me with a pile of limbs in my front yard. I just remember he wore an eye patch. Maybe he was a pirate?
  10. I don't know how families afford to go to the air shows anymore. Just way too expensive.
  11. I think this is what the Russians used to adjust all their firearms.
  12. I got this email this morning from Sen Stacy Campfield "While I am the original senate sponsor of the guns in parking lots bill in the senate, the house sponsor has told me the votes are not there to pass it as originally drafted through the house judiciary committee. He made a commitment to weaken it and pass a version that would protect property owners from lawsuits if they did allow guns on their property to get it out. It passed with the understanding that if it returned to its original form he would kill his own bill. He agreed. When it got to the house floor it was amended back to its original form but the sponsor stuck to his word and had to kill his own bill. Without a live house bill the senate bill for all intense and purposes is dead as well. Sorry. On a brighter note, my bill to allow faculty and staff to carry on state university property is still alive and coming up in the senate judiciary committee. Any support you could give would be appreciated. Yours in service, Sen. Stacey Campfield
  13. If you want tough luggage, buy what the airline pilots buy.
  14. Maybe we could get a "TGO Work Party" together on a Thursday and help him with the range. He has always been good to us.
  15. Seems you had to chose the lesser of two evils. Losing your permit or going to jail for a felony.
  16. So how did this shoot go? Get a lot of shooters? I've always wanted to attend an Appleseed event, but they are always too far away.
  17. Ok, ok! Here is one of the pics that Caster sent me before we did our deal. It looks like any other FR8 on the outside. It's on the inside where the "special mods" have been made. That's all I can say at this time. I've signed a non disclosure with Caster. And one of the FR8's unique front end.
  18. I plan on winning a lot of bets with that one!!LOL.
