  1. Been looking forward to the new season.
  2. My dentist uses a baking soda blaster on my teeth. Works good there too!
  3. Also some people know if they accept cash, then that cash has a way of being needed for "household" items. Once spent there, the money is gone. Usually forever. If they trade, then they still have a gun.
  4. I don't think this is Mike's style. He usually will contact you with an offer on a gun for sale and when you respond, he now has your email address and pelts you with obscenities. These scammers are usually out of state and just find a nice pistol on Gunbroker or GunsAmerica, copy the ad word for word, and ask about half what the gun is worth. When you reply, they try to get you to send them the money. I've discovered and reported several to the GOC admins. They always delete the ad and ban the user. If an ad looks too good, do this. Copy a phrase from the middle of the ad. Paste it into Google and search. You will usually find the original ad that was pirated.
  5. Wow! Those speed wobbles coming over the hills were wild.
  6. Definitely a scammer! The zip code is Houston TX. When you reply to him with a "I'll take it", he'll ask you to send him a MO or cashiers check and he will mail it to you. He doesn't even have the gun, just steals the pic and text from another sale site. I've been through this with several of those "too good to be true" ads on there.
  7. I was wondering how some people are selling firearms in the Trading Post area without being a Benefactor? I think that at one time, TGO David had a grace period of letting anyone sell without Benefactor status for about 2 weeks. They were allowed to keep their ad alive past that time till it sold. There some people on here that have been editing their original ad and placing new items in it for months now. Just trying to figure out how fair that is.
  8. I carry a day pack with me. In the inner back panel there is a zipper opening. I keep basic survival gear in that pocket all the time. Basic shelter(huge garbage bag), fire starter, first aid kit, couple of snack bars. I don't carry that much extra in the main pocket. Grunt call, doe bleat, knife, rubber gloves for skinning, box of ammo. I'm like a lot of folks out there right now. Too broke to buy all the fancy stuff.
  9. Went to Cannon County hunt. Got a couple of shots at birds. None to bring home though. Just too hot I think. The birds were not flying.
  10. Opening day was a bust in Cannon County. Not many birds flying and the ones that did couldn't get through the barrage of fire from the other side of the field. Poor birds never had a chance on that end of the field. They would have had a much better survival rate at my end of the field. LOL.
  11. A friend scouted our field this morning. No birds! Some folks say they are getting there early(like 0900) for the noon start. If any birds show up it won't be till late afternoon, so they may sit there for 6+ hours waiting on the birds! I'm going to arrive about 2pm and take my chances. Beats sitting in the sun all day!
  12. Either they are for sale and belong in the for sale forum or they are not. This is in the Code of Conduct for selling. "No speculation or "feeler" threads to test the waters - only post actual 'For Sale' threads."
  13. There seem to be quite a few here in Rutherford County.
  14. I just loaded some .410 brass shells yesterday. I do like the old ways too. I don't have any tools really. I deprime using my 45-70 size die, then prime with my Lee priming tool. I use wads cut from an old pizza box and the overshot wad is a cereal box. All sealed with Elmers glue. They shoot good! And the brass hulls should never wear out.
  15. Normally you would go in, determine what and how much you want to can and just start canning. If you only wanted 2 cases(12 cans) of something, you would probably end up canning at least 15, so the excess goes on the shelf for someone else to buy. As luck would have it, when we arrived, the shelves were full so we started boxing up what we wanted. After that, we canned a few cases to fill up the holes we created on the shelf. Take wheat for example. Grab a 25 pound bag of wheat. Pour it into a large plastic tub. Get the #10 cans and a scoop. Start filling the cans. Take cans to the lid machine, put an oxygen absorber in the can and put on the lid. The lid machine is pretty neat. The can spins while a mandrel pushes down on the lid and somehow it seals tight. Place label on can. Done! Hope that answered your question.
