  1. If you want to shoot an AK round, get an AK.
  2. I have several. They are great basic tools, but you will soon wish you had a better setup. There are small presses that you could store in a shoebox if you had to. I'm sure someone will suggest one here soon. Just reread your post. Do you mean the "Lee Loader" or do you mean the Lee hand operated press? The one that looks like a nutcracker?
  3. Welcome from the 'Boro!
  4. I sorry to hear of this. My sincere condolences go out to his family. David, does he have family that will continue the business?
  5. Mine was made in 1981, so I think it is pre-S&W.
  6. Rocky, Welcome to the forum.
  7. There is a lot of fraud out there. On GOC, people have been copying ads from GunBroker and others, then listing them as theirs.
  8. An ATV would be nice, but then I need a trailer to haul it. And a pickup to pull the trailer. And a garage to keep it in. Looks like it would be cheaper to wish for a rangefinder instead. LOL.
  9. Verne, I've heard that the 30-30 barrels make good cast boolit shooters. And I bet the 22K Hornet is a fun one to shoot with no recoil and little blast.
  10. The "easy open" mod changes the pivot point of the trigger guard hinge pin. The factory moves it from the front of the frame near the barrel hinge, to the middle of the frame(right over the trigger and under the cat). You may be able to see it in my pic above. I have never tried the standard, hard to open frame, so can't say how much easier it is to open. The previous owner sent it in and had it modded. I think he said it cost about $50. This is from the TC site: EASY OPEN CONTENDER FRAME CONVERSION In 1981 T/C changed the location of the trigger guard pivot pin. The pin is now located toward the lower middle of the frame instead of up front, under the forend wood. This relocation was done to give the shooter more mechanical advantage when opening the Contender. We can convert any early Contender frame (before serial #195,000) to the easy open type. This conversion includes all the required parts (trigger guard, trigger, hammer, etc.) We will need the entire pistol returned to us. 11. I just traded for a nice set of Contender barrels and frame. The frame has been back to the factory for the "easy open" mod. The barrels I got are: 14" Bull Barrel in .223 with a 4x Leupold 10" Bull Barrel in .44 Magnum with iron sights(soon to be scoped) 10" Bull Barrel in .45 Colt/.410 shotgun with removable choke. I got out last week to shoot them all and they are a blast to shoot. The .223 was hitting a target at 200 yards. The .44 shot good, but needs a scope to help my old eyes. The .45/410 barrel was the most fun to shoot. With my .444/.410 handloads, I was able to hit a few clay birds thrown from a spring trap. Are there any other Contender owners here? What barrels do you have? My next barrel may be either a .22 Hornet or .30-30.
  12. We always had them at Owl Hollow/CHMR.
  13. The weather is getting cooler now and the time seems right for another Meet and Shoot here in Middle Tennessee. We used to have one every month regardless of the weather, but that just kinda fizzled. So, who wants to have another one soon? I know we'll have the usual scheduling conflicts, but lets just do it. Maybe its time for another Zombie Meet and Shoot!
  14. But, is everything still behind the counter? I know and like Adam. He will do a great job there.
  15. I didn't see any ammo. Now go get some training and get it dirty.
  16. Welcome from the 'Boro.
  17. That is an easy one to do especially with the Dillon. Quick change the tool head and just forget the shellplate. I bet a few others have done that too.
  18. Welcome from the 'Boro!
  19. Welcome Nate!
  20. I had it done too. Got the random number. The gun was a "keeper" so could care less what the serial number was. I walked it into Glock in Smyrna and got it back in a week. Also got my 10 round mags swapped for 15's. My Tupperware case swapped for a clamshell. And was offered extended slide lock(turned that down). They shipped right to my house.
  21. I was a corporate pilot. I was in White Plains NY, 30 miles from Ground Zero. We ended up staying there for 5 days until aircraft were allowed back in the air. When we took off, we flew right by Manhattan. Even after 5 days, there was still a plume of smoke rising into the sky.
  22. The Savage or a CZ. My 452 American is a tack driver.
  23. Welcome from the 'Boro.
  24. If you want to be able to browse and actually pick up and look at the products, the Outpost Armory is a poor place to shop. All their reloading supplies are behind a counter and you have to ask the "very knowledgeable staff" to get it for you. I don't know about you, but I like to pick up things and look at them before I buy. I may just want to read the label. At OA you can't do that. The last time I was there(which will be the last time!), I asked one of the "very knowledgeable staff" if a certain powder would be good for both shotgun and pistol, and he picked up the container and said, "well, it has a picture of a pistol on the label, so it should be good for that". I won't be going back there to buy reloading supplies. I'll be going to the Reloaders Bench or Lebanon Gun Shop for metallic loading, or the Collection Connection in Murfreesboro for shotgun reloading.
