  1. Could be from an oversized chamber on the gun. I have read that a lot of 45LC chambers are cut very generous. Resize it and keep shooting it. If it starts to crack, get rid of it. Your load of Titegroup is a pretty stout starting load for a 45LC. The book shows that is about 950fps. What gun are you shooting it in?
  2. I used to get blanks from Nat Guard guys coming back from summer drills. Now they must count all that stuff and turn it back in. I could use some more blanks myself.
  3. Thanks David. I'll try and catch you at one of the shows.
  4. I'd like to try some of that AA8700 sometime, David. Do you offer it in smaller quantities than 8 pounds?
  5. Here is what IMR recommends. The 70% rule. It works well for TB. http://www.imrpowder.com/PDF/Trail-Boss-data.pdf
  6. Just the $5 a day that you put in the box(honor system).
  7. The chart I tried to post wouldn't format correctly.
  8. In my opinion, that load is way too hot for cast boolits. That would probably be pushing 2500fps.
  9. Hi Jeff. It might help us if you could tell us what these will be used for(plinking/hunting, etc), and what powders you have on hand now. Update for Jeff. Try going to this site: http://castpics.net/subsite2/LoadLookup/default.html Click on the "Lookup Load Data" Enter "30-30 Winchester" in the "Cartridge Contains" box. Do not enter a weight in the bullet weight box. You will get lots of loads. Sort the results by bullet weight. There are no exact weight matches, but the info there will be close. Hope this helps.
  10. Been there, done that and got the T shirt! Good class. I think you will enjoy it and learn a lot.
  11. Lebanon Gun Shop has a good selection. And Reloaders Bench in Mt Juliet has a lot of holsters too.
  12. It happened again, just about a week ago.(The well casing, not the plate rack)
  13. I ended up selling all my parts and buying one already built. It was about the same price as I got out of my kit.
  14. You guys that shoot at Woodbury/OK Corral, be on the lookout for people shooting things that they shouldn't. The owner is pretty pissed off that someone shot his well casing. It sticks out of the ground to the left of the range, near the barn. It has red tape wrapped around it. Someone shot it up recently. If this keeps up, I can see him fencing it off and making it a members only range. We have to police ourselves up there. Also, someone shot the pistol plate rack targets with an AR recently and tore them up pretty bad. Thanks.
  15. I guess it's kinda like a Jaguar and a Ford Taurus. From a distance, they look similar. They both provide transportation. But the price of the Jag is many times the price of the Taurus. A Randall and a POS Made in China knife both cut, but the Randall is more pleasing to the eye and the hand. Just like the Jaguar. You pays your money and take your choice. I own 2 Randalls right now. They don't do any work. They just stay in the safe and get admired from time to time. They could work, but the value would go down. I plan on selling one of them soon, as the prices and wait time have really gone up. Nearly 5 years waiting list last time I heard.
  16. There may be, but you only said middle Tennessee. Good luck with your training.
  17. I've been using my 550 for about 10 years. Other than a little oil or grease on the ram, I haven't done any other maintenance. I did clean the powder measure "slider" once.
  18. APPS in Nashville trains a lot of AG's. http://appstraining.com/
  19. I used to shoot SASS. When you shoot the steel plates, what you found is usually all that is left after the "splatter". I hope you enjoy your SASS shooting. I did until it got too competitive at my range. Dress up, be a cowboy and have fun! That's what SASS is supposed to be.
  20. I'd start with the .38 Special. It has to be the easiest cartridge to load for. A lot easier than 9mm.
  21. Nice first post on TGO there Chas. And welcome.
