  1. Jeff, I'm shooting a Lyman 311041 cast boolit with gas check. I cast them from straight wheel weights. My Marlin Micro Groove barrel slugs .307 and I shoot .310 to .311 slugs through it. It does quite well.
  2. Welcome from the 'Boro! I've been here for 40 years now.
  3. Me too. My 7-30 Waters "plinking" load is 1350fps with nary a speck of lead in the barrel. Very accurate too. My 30-30 loads are approaching 1700 but I haven't actually chronoed them.
  4. Don't let her "shoot her eye out". Make her wear her shooting glasses.
  5. Yes. My wife is a member and that's what they told us the last time we were there(back in Jan.).
  6. You could PM TGO member "Mike". He is a member and has said he would help.
  7. Ammo is at least $14 a box and you could reload most any centerfire round for a whole lot less!
  8. I always started with an empty bag when traveling to a foreign country, especially Mexico. Even one empty casing in your luggage could get you put in jail there.
  9. Always had good installation at Hi Fi Buys on Nolensville Road.
  10. I started Cowboy Action Shooting with a Winchester. It wasn't long till I went to a Marlin. The Marlin action could be levered much faster and still function. The Winchester tended to jam if levered too fast. But, if you aren't shooting in competition, then it shouldn't matter.
  11. Well said Caster! I'm shooting guns that sat in the safe for years due to either cost per round or how much they kicked. Cast boolits and powders like Unique have brought them out again.
  12. Welcome from another "Boro-ite".
  13. In the old forum, when someone got banned, it showed up under their name as "On Vacation" or similar. In the new forum, how can you tell if someone is banned or suspended? For example, NYCrulesU. Thanks.
  14. I've heard that gunfire and other loud noise can affect the baby. I don't see how the ear muffs on the belly are doing anything though.
  15. Welcome from the 'Boro!
  16. That last item got my attention. I assume you have to notify the BATF immediately on that.
  17. No!!! Lead boolits are great shooters in 30-30's. You just need to get the proper powder to use them. Like Caster said, get a pound of Unique and have fun. Or Trail Boss, Red Dot.
  18. I must be lucky. My Marlin 30-30 Micro Groove shoots pretty good and doesn't lead. I'm shooting straight WW, water dropped, sized .310(slugged at .3075).
  19. You can opt out of all that spam mailings from the NRA. I'm a Life Member and I opted out. They only send me about 2 things a year now.
  20. Jeff, are you a member over at CastBoolits? Here is a good discussion thread about Bullseye in the 30-30. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=116929
  21. Hello Tank and welcome!
  22. I will admit to shooting some mighty light loads in the last few years. I regret not shooting Casters beautiful Ruger. At the time, I was actually afraid I might drop it. Maybe next time. Yes, now that we know the OP has a Blackhawk, I say load it up! If your wrist can take it, the gun can.
