  1. I went to TR FP a few years back and no one was asked to toss their gun. But we did shoot all day in the rain and the guns and mags got plenty wet and muddy. I wouldn't take a safe queen there. But I wouldn't want to fight with a safe queen either.
  2. Look under the barrel near the muzzle. It should be marked there as to the chambering. I bet it is marked "308W". These guns were not chambered in the CETME caliber. I have one that I bought in the 80's for $69. I have shot a lot of 7.62 NATO ammo through it. I would never shoot commercial "308 Winchester" ammo through this gun. Pressures in the commercial ammo is much higher than the military ammo! Ok, looked in my stuff and found this article about them in Guns and Ammo. After shooting a bunch of NATO rounds through mine, I decided to use it exclusively for cast boolits. It is a great cast boolit shooter! Here is a good blog written about them. http://carteach0.blo...user-rifle.html
  3. Sorry Don. I can only afford to go shoot once a week or so. Maybe next time.
  4. Don, I was there from 0930 till 1430 today. Didn't see you there. When did you drop by? I was told today that it was going to be a trap field, but I guess it could be both. I'm glad to see the "Assault Weapon's Pit" there. Maybe the spray and pray crowd will be happy there! As I was leaving, I ran into some guys from the 'Boro on the pistol range. It was a great day to be out at the range. Got in some good load development shooting today for the .223 and 7-30 Waters Contender as well as the 45-70 Buffalo Classic. Edit I just read the title of the thread. You must have been there on Saturday and just posted today.
  5. Caster, Thanks for the idea. I don't have a FCD for the Waters though. I've been shooting the boolits as cast (.285/286) and they shoot great at 1350-1400fps. Just thought I might put some zip on them up to about 1900 and need the GC's for that. Looks like I just need to order a Lee push through. They make a .285 but not a .286. I may end up honing it out a little to keep from sizing the boolits.
  6. They may have a slick commercial, but their customer service is lousy. I don't shop there and I live close by.
  7. 36 views and no comments or suggestions yet. Let's ask it this way: Does anyone have a .285 or .286 Lyman or RCBS lubrisizer die that I could use to seat a few GC's? I have access to friends with both. Just need a die. Or....... Can anyone suggest a method to seat and crimp on my GC's without a special die? I have figured out how to get them on and seated, just not crimped. Thanks.
  8. See if there is a "Tandy Leather" near you. Or look at Tandy online.
  9. Hello and welcome from Murfreesboro!
  10. I finally got a few 7mm gas checks to use on my Lee .285-130 boolits that I cast. Now I have no way to seat and crimp them. I was wondering if anyone around Murfreesboro has a Lee "push through" bullet sizing die in either .285 or .286? I just need to put on a few of these GC's to see if they work. If I start using them all the time, then I'll invest in a die of my own. Oh, in case you were wondering, I shoot them in my 7-30 Waters Contender. Thanks.
  11. Welcome! I'm in the 'Boro also.
  12. I used to do a lot when I traveled as a corporate pilot. We'd have 2 or 3 days down time in some places. My co-captain would take his too and we would hunt. Found lots of good stuff. Especially liked beaches where there was lots of quarters. I found over $300 in quarters one summer. As far as local places to hunt, be sure to hunt the school playgrounds of schools that have been there for a long time. Kids have been losing their lunch money at some of those schools for 50 years or more.
  13. They hire companies to come in and recycle the shot on the ground.
  14. I had a whole family move into my crawl space a few years back. I was able to seal up the entrance and left them one way out through the crawl space door. Baited a trap with canned cat food and caught at least one per night. I put a goat bell on the trap door, so I could hear when it tripped. Only caught the neighbors cat once. She stayed away after that. The ones I had were pretty brave. They were actually coming into my kitchen and eating the cat's food there. Good luck with yours.
  15. Watched and like the Promo 1. It looked like you filmed at Owl Holler. Good luck with the videos. Please don't become another "Nutnfancy" on YouTube though. I can't stand his vids!
  16. The reason you were finding just light weight discs was that when the 148 gr boolit hits the steel, it splatters. All that is left to pick up is a light disc from the base.
  17. I've been using a Dillon electronic scale for about 8 years now. It is sensitive to air currents. But other than that, it has been perfectly reliable.
  18. Yes, you name ships, not guns.
