EXACT same size, metric vs u.s. meas. anyone who tells you different has no idea. The throat isnt different, its not taller, the case wall thicker, however it doesnt alter the shape of the case. they give you BOTH in iraq for .223 rifles. Pressures are slightly different but not enough to impact ballistics in a major way. All modern rifles (1990+) can handle both. I contracted with a large gun manufacturer, pimped them for information on coffee breaks.

+1 for Taurus, I have owned 2. I still have one. It's a 24/7 pro in .40. Not 1 issue.

There are literally millions of combinations of factors! Vests (the ones on ebay can stop 9mm (thanks youtube idiots)), clothes thickness, tumbling, velocity, weight of the attacker, distance, bullet density, cold gun, hot gun.... My point is, any hollow point will take care of 99.9% of criminals trying to cause you harm. unless they have on a vest and you aim for center mass.

I understand your choices. I would not go Shotty as they are NOT fun at the range. Bruising will occur. So in that case I would go for the .22, however if you want something that is more robust,,,,, try a Mosin. They are fun to shoot, VERY accurate, cheap to shoot, cheap to buy, you can hunt with it and later accessorize when you have more cash.

Precisely, even at a gun show if someone tries to sell me an RFB for $800, I would be very suspect.

So, since the FN 5.7 is a severely lethal and proven weapon and it's ballistics are similar to the .22 magnum. I should carry a .22 magnum as a personal defense weapon? Don't look at those numbers to choose a gun because they OBVIOUSLY don't attest to a weapons' effectiveness. In the grand scheme of it all, the bullet is fast, it is accurate as hell, it penetrates, it tumbles on entry and the cavitation is severe.

but a few hundred extra on a class 3 will give you plenty of options.

Thats the only times they are open lol.

if i bought a glock, it wouldnt take much to get me in trouble with the 30 round clips, sbr conversions and so on... I would say glock is a gateway gun.

Who in town has good deals on Rock Island 1911's? not going to be able to buy until I sell my taurus, so I am just getting prices now.
-
Glad to see this. i love the 6.5 but i understand the practicality of necking it down. this is some hard to find ammo, if your not reloading.
-
Not really, a can of coke costs a fraction of a penny to manufacture and around $.07 after EVERYTHING is included. It wouldnt surprise me if the total cost of a glock is $25. Particularly when other polymer guns can sell for less than $200 new.
-
So you bought these there recently?

Follow up rounds are extremely important. Learning the double tap has gotten people killed. Putting someone down may take fewer shots with a 40 over a 9mm, but if you cant incapacitate quickly your screwed. I carry a .40, but, my vote is the 9mm if your .40 choice recoils wildly.

PTR-91's do really well. (G3/Hk91 platform) Well priced, fun to shoot, lots of cool toys to add on. M1A's are a bit inconsistent on accuracy. I fired 3 in one day, one was a tack driver, one was a decent 3 in grouper, the other I was lucky to hit the paper. The best and worst of bunch were from Springfield Armory. I like the FNAR alot (short and sweet) but still looks a "vewy vewy cool wabbit" hunting gun. Not a combat arm. Give me a collapsible/folding stock and some forend options and you've got a winner.

There are plenty places to shoot it.... in Montana, AZ, NM, NV, WY, ND, SD and South Africa. TN is a bit low on 400yd+ ranges, I can't think of any.
-
I have had 0, issues with this. In my experience they are EXACTLY the same. Even to the PSI, just metric vs. mm. I have fired both in my .223's In the OTC we used them interchangeably.

So owl hollow will be open this weekend? Great! Anyone going, I would love to give it a test.
-
there is an actual difference in the throat of the round too. your OK for the most part though.
-
That place looks awesome. I will be giving it a try. Membership seems to be a fair price too! Is anyone from here going today or tomorrow so I can give it a test run?

I am looking for a good rifle range this weekend (26th & 27th). I just found out that Stones River will not be open for two more weeks...(is this how smokers feels when they need a cigarette?)... I am going through withdrawal. Can anyone recommend somewhere close in proximity to Antioch/Nashville that I can fire my rifle?

you know there is something primal about the racking of a shotgun. when I was a young boy we had some people break into our basement (Ohio, everyone has basements and a side door to get in it), my gramps grabbed "Marie." When they got the first floor door, as they crept it open he racked the shotty. I heard 3 bumbling idiots falling down the steps. they ran out the door they came in and we watched as they hobbled/slinked to the car. Of course the cops were pulling up right around this time. They needed and ambulance, one had a crushed ankle, another had broken rib and the third a severe concussion. I love shotguns. Not one shot fired and no bad memories to live with. All the same, glad to hear you made it back in one piece.
