  1.   By green, do you mean yellow? The HDs only come in orange or yellow.   https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product1.php?id=HDNS
  2. I use the exact same holster. And the point you made about having your "hand on the grip' is spot on.
  3. My everyday, step-out-the door gun is a S&W 642 in the front pocket. I carried a Kahr PM9 for a while and really liked it (same place), but noticed that from unconventional positions (like on the ground after getting knocked on your ass) the rear of the slide would get hung up on some pockets during the draw. I went back to the pocket-friendly 642.   Admittedly, if I didn't carry there, I would carry something else.
  4. IMO, Trijicon's HDs are the best fighting pistol sights out there. Just choose between orange or yellow.  :)   I've got orange on all my guns, but lately I'm thinking I like the yellow better.
  5.     But then again, there's always this.  :)
  6.   Exactly.  That's why I'm more at ease when I see HCP status (not saying that they showed it to me...open wallet, computer, etc.). Safety-wise, I really don't care if they show it to me or not.  A smart cop assumes everyone has a gun.  That's what makes me laugh everytime I hear stories of cops, on traffic stops, saying "You should have told me."
  7. Paul Castle is dead now (cancer, 2011 I believe), but he came to my Dept about 15 years ago trying to sell his CAR program. He told at least one of our Captains that he was former British SAS.  He wasn't...   Buford Tune jumped on the CAR bandwagon with both feet.
  8. If I ever get back into the 1911 world, a Dan Wesson 9mm Guardian is a top contender. Except for the sights and grips, it's as if DW asked me what my perfect 1911 would be.
  9. Both of you did a fantastic job.  Functional and attractive. My G19's work is very functional, but hardly attractive.  Someone once accused it of having a rash.
  10.   There's an AG Opinion and some case law (I believe) basically saying that a city ordinance cannot supercede State hunting law. I carry a copy of the AG's Opinion in my patrol car to show the antis when they call and complain about someone who is lawfully, and safely, hunting within our city limits.
  11. Guess I need to stay out of the women's underwear section from now on...
  12. With that said, do some Departments go overboard with toys and militarization?  Absolutely. But lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater with some of these blanket statements.
  13.   Within the last several months, my agency's SWAT and Crisis Negotiators responded to a barricaded suspect where rounds had been fired. This was in a neighborhood.  It would have been a Hostage Situation, but the wife escaped out the front door. Negotiations failed (I can't win them all).   I can tell you, when rounds started bouncing off the armored vehicle, the "armored" part was comforting.  Also, without too much detail, the vehicle was instrumental in ending the situation without loss of life (ie, snipers were onscene and standing by as an option).
  14. LaVergne PD just received a brand new one. Brand new.
  15. I've got a BattleComp on my AR. Does it work?  Yes.  Is it worth the money?  Not so sure. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably just stick with an A2 flash hider.   Same with my 7.62 AK.

Jeez, SIG...get the MPX to market! The only gun I'm really wanting right now is a reliable AR-based 9mm.  Apparently, this is a tall order. I'd like to buy the MPX pistol, apply for a tax stamp, and then get the stock for it.  That way, I can shoot it while I'm waiting for my paperwork to get back.   http://www.policeone.com/police-products/firearms/videos/7235909-SIG-MPX-Pistol
  17. The best out-of-the-box striker-fired trigger that I've felt/fired is the Walther PPQ. The SIG P320 that I played with today (dryfire only) was damn close and I think I like the ergos of the SIG even better than the Walther. Both of these gun's triggers (take-up, break, and reset) kick Glock, M&P, and XD's ass, IMO.  Not even close.   I'm a Glock guy.  Bought my first one around 1991, been an Armorer for about 14-15 years, and have to carry one at work everyday.  I'm "invested" and not at all unhappy with my Glocks. But, honestly, if I was just starting out or could carry what I wanted at work, I'd give a serious look at the P320 or the PPQ.  Obviously, while the PPQ has established itself as reliable, the P320 is new and has some proving to do.
  18.   Lol, sure.   http://www.nashville.gov/Police-Department/Field-Operations/Secondary-Employment/Employing-Off-Duty-Officers.aspx   As you brought up traffic control, option #3 is/was the usual. So yeah, that's plenty of your "vast knowledge."  Thanks for letting us all see it...
  19. I agree with both posts 8 and 10. I respect everyone who gets up, works hard, and earns their paycheck...regardless of what they do.   We should celebrate that.
  20.   Not exactly sure what you mean by "from the rent-a-cops," but I used to be an officer with the Metro Nashville Police Dept (I left in 2000 to go work for a smaller agency). Since you quoted me, tell us about your vast knowledge.
  21. NecroPost...just because I'm still pissed that I don't have one yet. And yet, SIG pimps these constantly in advertising and at SHOT.
  22. Meh, more than minimum wage, but I'm not rich.  ;)
  23.   Lol, we must have the same friend.  ;)
  24.   The best I can describe it is faster recoil, allowing you to get back on target faster, and it feels like you're fighting the gun less during recoil.   When I used to teach classes, I'd have a stock G19 and a G19 with a 15lb recoil spring side x side, loaded with the same ammo. The vast majority of people noticed a positive difference when using the 15lb spring.  Also, I believe it offers increased reliability when firing from somewhat comprimised shooting positions.   Is it earthshattering?  No, but worth it to me. And this is coming from an Armorer who believes Glocks are best left stock as much as possible. Regards
  25. I use a Wolff steel rod in my G19...not because of my aversion to the factory plastic rod, but because I prefer a 15lb recoil spring instead of the factory weight 18lb spring. I've always felt that 9mm Glocks were "oversprung."
