I can immediately think of 4-5 incidents, just within the last couple of months, where my officers have done something similar (bought gas, food, gave cash). But hell, it's much more fun to get on TGO and talk about the dick cop...

Getting in shape, round's a shape right?
TN-popo replied to whitewolf001's topic in Training Discussions
Two things about your current path that I would watch for better results (I'm not necessarily offering an opinion on "juicing"). 1. As peejman mentioned, watch your sugar intake and make sure and juice with lower GI foods. Sugar will eventually wreek havoc on your weight loss goals. Juicing removes a lot of the fiber that tempers sugar uptake. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycemic_index 2. Add a protein powder/source to your "meals." You want to lose fat, not muscle. Your body will burn both if it has to... Also, this will make you feel more full. Good luck. -
We have about 100 Glock .40s in our inventory (G22, G23, and G27). The Dept typically shoots/quals 5-6 times a year (this doesn't include officers shooting on personal time). Some of them are over 15 years old. I'm the armorer for them. Not one Kaboom since they were adopted in the mid-90s. Current issue duty round is the Federal 180gr HST (Speer 180gr Gold Dot is also authorized). Practice ammo is 180gr Blazer, American Eagle, or Lawman (mostly Blazer).

Black is slimming... :) Let us know how it performs.

A friend and I were just talking about the Beretta 9mm Steel-1 SAO that I had (and sold). It was a great shooter. Anyway, for me, a SIG 9mm MPX...if they ever come to market (c'mon SIG, announced in Jan 2013!!!).

Gotcha. I was just using the two as a reference regarding the inaccuracies. They seemed less glaring, to me, in the movie.

One of the few instances where I think I liked the movie better than the book (I only read the first one). IIRC, the author needed to do a little more subject matter research on the military and guns. He made MPs/CID out to be some sort of SF types. Maybe nerdy, but all the inaccuracies turned me off.

I've had dinner with him. Not only does he have stories to tell, he's hilarious. I remember him telling us about one of his helo crashes (IIRC, he said he had been in 3) and he had us all cracking up. The best pistol shooter that I've stood next to.

12 years old...killed my 1st deer with a Marlin 35 Rem. :) Jeez, that was about 30 years ago. :(

Thanks for the reply, sir. For me, that's a deal killer.

I'm a big fan of the J-frame and do not have much trigger time on the LCR, but I have a question for LCR owners. After the LCR came out, I played with one. What completely turned me off to them was when I intentionally short-stroked the trigger (simulating a mistake under stress), it sort of locked up the action. Whereas, on a J-frame, you just pull the trigger again. Was this a dud LCR or are they all like that? Anyway, to swerve back to the topic, considering how in-demand S&W 940s are, this gun might sell pretty well.

The new Aimpoint T1 replacement from Primary Arms???
TN-popo replied to mcordell's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Several of my coworkers have Primary Arms products...they all love them. These are probably the only economy RD I could warm up to. -
There's not a .32acp JHP out there that comes close to penetrating enough...if it expands. IF you carry a .32acp, carry FMJs. Plus, in those small autos, they tend to feed better and are cheaper. We want expansion. We need penetration. A .32acp JHP can't do both. graycrait...I've shot a bunch of that FN .32acp. It was great stuff. And, actually, the Fiocchi is hotter. I know this because it was the only thing that stopped up my Dad's P32. It cycled the slide fast enough to cause FTF malfunctions. Not saying Fiocchi is bad (his grip may have had something to do with it as well). I don't remember the figures, but we chrono'ed/verified it as well. Once the FN stuff ran out, we liked S&B .32acp the best.

I've worked for the .gov for about 20 years (military and local LE). What drives me crazy is "We're equal opportunity!" But then, there's a block on a job application about race. Why? If you're an EOE, and want to hire the best person for the job, why do you give a damn about what color they are? Race questions on job apps should be removed if you're really wanting equal opportunity.

I carried an M9 while on active duty and have owned a few 92s/96s over the years. I can say, they are the ONLY SD pistol that I've never had a malfunction with. That said, the only reason that I own any now are because they are fantastic suppressor hosts. Also, because I'm not a huge DA/SA fan, all the models I do own are the "D" series and upgraded with Wolff trigger springs. BTW, put a "D" series hammerspring in your DA/SA 92 and you'll notice a better trigger pull. And, I highly recommend the Wolff trigger spring. http://www.gunsprings.com/Semi-Auto%20Pistols/BERETTA/92,%2096,%20AND%20CENTURION/cID1/mID2/dID36 http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/trigger-group-parts/hammer-parts/hammer-springs/hammer-spring-d-version-prod27930.aspx 9mm mag-wise, I use MecGar's flushfit 18 rounders exclusively...never a problem. MecGar's flushfit .40 mags hold 13.

I saw it. I smiled when I saw stars and birds saluting an E-3 MOH. :)

I've met one MOH recipiant in my life (unplanned, 1 on 1, where he had to show me his ID card to pass my post in the middle of the night, I was active duty at the time). Total chance encounter since I normally didn't stand a fixed post...I was just relieving a buddy so he could grab some chow. I knew his name, but not his face, beforehand (anyone who has served in the USAF probably knows who I'm talking about). I saw that ID card and locked up tighter than Dick's hatband (probably the crispest salute I've ever given). We talked for a few minutes and I'll never forget it. Your son had a good day and sounds squared away.

Another reason why I stick with Glock. Having been a Glock Armorer for over 15 years (at work, I'm responsible for about 100 of them), I can tell you that they're about the easiest SD pistol to work on (hell, if I can do it...).
-
Regarding the PPQ, agreed. I was focusing on the "combat" more than the "carry" when I posted. Truthfully, I carry a J-frame more than I carry a Glock. As to the P320, admittedly, I've got no live-fire trigger-time with it. I've dryfired 2 different ones (the triggers were both excellent and better than Glock) and I was taken with the ergos. However, Steelharp posted a similar comment as yours about the P320's trigger when he tried it. Doesn't exactly instill confidence... that's why I added the "needs to be wrung-out" comment. Apparently the P320 trigger varies wildly from gun to gun.
-
My baseline for a combat handgun is a Glock 19 (and is still my choice). However, IMO, the Walther PPQ M2 has stepped up to the next level with better ergos and a much better trigger (in fact, the best polymer gun trigger that I've ever felt). And it's been around long enough that it's proven itself reliable. The SIG P320 shows promise as well, but needs more time to be "wrung-out." If it proves to be reliable, I'd put it at the next level for the same reasons as the PPQ. Other than these two guns, I agree with you.

Pictures of the first thing in my trust
TN-popo replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I was under the same impression. You probably jumped through hoops to get the gun. You definately jumped through hoops to legally SBR it. And, at the end of all that, .gov is still hung up on the origin of some of the parts that do the exact same thing as US made parts. Jeez, this crap is irritating.
