  1. As one who is sick of waiting on the SIG MPX, I'll give this a serious look. Especially for under 1K.
  2.   Me too. This latest back surgery (I've had two) has taken a lot out of me.   In my prime...6'3" / 215-220lbs, fit with body fat under 10%, martial arts, guns.  No ninja, but above average.   The last few years?  20lbs heavier and a lot less practice at the above activities.
  3.   You're right, I am not an operator.  But I do know how to use a telephone.  I'm even certified on Rotary. Reminds me of something read.  IIRC in Blackhawk Down, Gary Gordon's then girlfriend / future wife always heard people refer to him as an Operator and, while they were dating, for a while she really thought that he was a telephone operator.
  4.   ? I've never seen a stock Beretta 92/96 not cycle with a suppressor...booster or not.  The barrel doesn't tilt...you don't have to do anything to the 92/96 to get them to work with a non-boostered can.   It's the reason why I went with that platform for quiet, centerfire pistol shooting.  My cans are "non-boostered."   The Beretta 92 / M9 is the only SD, centerfire handgun that I've never had a malfunction with (silenced or not).  And, I carried some rattletraps while in the military.
  5. Costa was never on my "to do trainers list." I have some of his Magpul videos and there is some good info there, but there is too much I disagree with. Example, the way he teaches malfunction clearances...diagnostic.  I teach non-diagnostic.  It's not always on a brightly lit range when things go bad.   The asshat who was banned because of a recent thread involving Costa...I didn't necessarily disagree with some of the stuff he said.  I just didn't like some of the repeated, over-the-top, personal grudge attacks he made.
  6. LOL, like I said, I loved it from day 1. Even if it was born "red."
  7. For centerfire pistols...I'm using the Beretta 92/96 series.  The action is 100% silencer friendly, reliability-wise.   For rimfire pistols...the Ruger Lites are very nice.  I also have a Walther P22 that I love, but reliability seems to be hit or miss with these guns (not related to the silencer). Mine is 100% reliable, but when I was teaching HCP classes, a lot of students with P22s had issues.   For rimfire rifles...I'm currently using a S&W M&P AR-15/22.  With an Aimpoint, it's stupid fun.   For centerfire rifles...I'm not there yet.
  8. I have no evidence to suggest that it was ever red, but you were manly enough to wear it anyways...   "Your Honor, I submit MacGyver's Avatar as Exhibit A."
  9. Yep, I want a dedicated carbine...not a different upper, mag blocks, buffer, etc.  Most of those don't work to my reliability standards.   I'm not opposed to one that uses Glock mags.  What are you using?  Most of what I've seen doesn't cut it.   PS.  Still digging the pink hat.
  10. I really want a SIG MPX, but I'm seriously starting to consider one of these. I just wish the mag release was AR or AK based for faster reloads and skill set commonality.   http://cz-usa.com/product/cz-scorpion-evo-3-s1-pistol/
  11. Bringing this thread back because I think it's important. For many years I was at the UC level with pistols and carbines (thanks to .mil and good private sector trainers...LE training had no impact). Lately, I'd say I've slipped to the CC level now due to life issues. Regarding the defensive shotgun, truthfully, I was probably never above the CC level. Also, many who think that they are at the UC level, are not. These are perishable skills, guys.
  12. The definition of awesome. This might be old to some, but it was new to me.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS7LKwt1j18
  13. They're breeding and I'm dealing with it daily.
  14. I've got 2 cans, but I'm definately not an expert (not with those cans anyway  :dirty:  ). I've learned from this thread that I'm cleaning mine way too often.
  15.   I remember those.  I had the S&W M59 and 686ish versions! The semiauto versions were much stronger than the revolvers, but you didn't have to hand cycle the revolvers.  My mission that day determined which one I grabbed (either inflicting maximum pain on my brother or winning firefights). Those damn things hurt.
  16. Lol, I had one of those Lark M19-A full auto BB guns when I was a kid (yeah, my Dad bought it for "me"    ). Those were the ones that used the freon cans and shot an advertised 3000 BBs a minute, IIRC.   One time he and I were on the lake fishing and one of those thick clouds of blackbirds flew over us.  They started dropping out of the sky...   Anyway, I was KING of the neighborhood BB gun wars when I got that thing (kidding, we only used pump BB guns for those and had "maximum pump" rules).  I still have a BB in my ass from those days when a dick didn't follow the pump rules...I was scared to tell my Dad and it just healed up.   Actually, I think I might still have that Lark...  heh, heh.
  17.   I'm not a 10mm guy, but this gun shot wonderfully (especially in musicman's hands...the funny vid doesn't do his skills justice  :)  ).
  18. Having met Mrs TGO David, I know how FOS you are... :) BTW, are her combat reloads still better than yours?
  19. Not one of mine, I just thought it was funny. This would make anyone "flip the switch!" Great thread WW001!
  20. My remaining two... Gulf Shores. All the kids on the beach loved them and they loved hunting down the beach crabs. DADDY, WHERE THE HELL IS OUR DINNER? Here's Maggie...I had to put her down last month. It was a complete surprise...out of the blue she started acting weird and having seizures. Vet found out it was a brain tumor and said nothing could be done. Two of the three were rescues who won the lottery (we're "those" dog owners). The one in the blue collar we've had since she was a puppy. Lexi the Queen just thinks this is how life is. The other two have had a bit of "reality." They are / were all scary smart. If they had thumbs, I'd be screwed.
  21.   This is why I hope Michael Vick was anally violated while in prison...repeatedly.   When I worked for Metro Nashville PD, hoodrats would fight dogs.  The losers would be left and usually died, but not always. If they recovered, they roamed the streets.  Sometimes it ended in tragedy.
  22.   I totally agree. This statement covers my whole profession and is the reason some cops get so jaded. People don't call us when they're having a great day...   It still doesn't change the fact that most of our bite calls involve a Pit, so I'm really not understanding your logic.
  23.   All I am doing is drawing on my experience from a 20 year cop career.  The majority of dog bite calls we receive involve a Pit. Now, if you want to make the case for bad owners, inbreeding, etc., I wouldn't necessarily disagree with you...to a point.   However, I still say that some breeds are inherently more aggressive / dangerous than others. I don't really have an agenda here. Regards

    9mm AR?

Can you tell me more about it? I really want a 9mm AR and have been waiting for the SIG MPX, but I'm starting to get irritated.
