  1. I was too far away to help you, but I wanted to add...anyone in the Rutherford Co area that ever needs the use of a Glock front or rear sight tool is welcome to use mine.
  2. Yes, I am right (your passive/aggressive "J/K" and YouTube link not withstanding). I've attended more than one Winchester and ATK sponsored ballistic gel testing event and have spoken to Paul Nowak at Winchester (Senior Tech) extensively about this subject (part of my job, BTW). Like I said, totally different bullet...a little research will give you the same facts. I never said the Talon was a bad bullet, but the Ranger-T is different (more than just the coating, as you originally said) and far superior.
  3. No. PDX1 is bonded. Ranger-T is not.
  4. No. The Winchester Ranger-T is a completely different, redesigned bullet from the Black Talon. It's like saying the Ford Focus is the same as the Ford Mustang...yeah they're both Fords with 4 tires, but they're not the same. Yes, sell the Talons to someone who values them...and use the money to get more Ranger-Ts (a much superior bullet design).
  5. Regarding .45ACP... While I wouldn't feel undergunned with FMJ, I don't see why you'd settle for it with so many good 230gr JHPs on the market (unless your pistol doesn't function with JHP). Personally, I like Speer 230gr Gold Dot and Winchester 230gr Ranger-T.
  6. I ran about 100 rounds through one last week. Functioned 100% and there was a SLIGHT recoil reduction due to the new recoil system. I liked the grip texture, reduced backstrap, and mag release very much. That said, as pumped as I was about Glock's Gen4, I'll wait and stick with Gen3 for awhile...I've heard of too many issues with the new recoil system's reliability (admittedly, most complaints are with the 9mm versions...and I'm a G19 guy). I'm issued a Gen2 G23 at work.
  7. Some great, reliable info. I don't agree 100% with his second post, but his terminal ballistic testing is some of the most reliable out there. Service Pistol Duty and Self-Defense Loads - M4Carbine.net Forums
  8. Dammit, just saw this thread and missed the match. Hope you have another one next month.
  9. Agreed and post #25 wasn't an attack or snotty towards you. Hope you didn't take it that way. Also, I edited post #61 for additional thoughts.
  10. Or, the guy got a speeding ticket from Loftis and made the whole damn thing up. There's enough goofy stuff in his story to make me suspect as much. -He's such a good documenter, where's the copy of the formal complaint / paperwork that he filed with THP / TBI? -Where's the copy of the THP property receipt...property taken / property returned? -If we're naming names, what's the name of the Internal Affairs THP / TBI Investigator that he spoke with? -He felt the need to take 1100 rounds to a Tea Party / 2A Rally in case of a disturbance (and it's still in the plastic)? Weirdo. As I said, IF the account is true (which I very much doubt), then fire at least one Trooper. You can "what if" search and seizure law / this incident all day long, but I you'd be wasting your time on something that probably didn't happen or happened very differently from what was posted. If, if, if..."If your Aunt had balls, she'd be your Uncle." Let me see something substantial and not just blatherings on some blog.
  11. I do this pretty regularly (and defrag), but it doesn't help. Thank you for the FireFox advice, though. I think I'll just start using it...I'm just so used to using IE. I'm just curious as to why this IE issue popped up all of a sudden.
  12. Ahh, when using FireFox the problems disappear!
  13. Recently, I have had problems accessing two sites from my home computer...one is another gunboard and one is Youtube. The gunboard won't even come up (I get that IE "there is a problem with this page notice" 100% of the time). Youtube will come up, but the videos won't play...they just continuously "load." Both these sites work fine if I'm not at home. These are the only two sites that I have a problem with. I do have Comcast at the house, but again, since these are the only two sites that I have problems with, I'm kinda mystified. This problem just started a couple of weeks ago...before that, there was no problem with either site. Obviously, I'm not a "computer guy." Thoughts?
  14. Because some people love to make up stupid **** about cops or some people just love the limelight (goofy yes, but already this guy got 8 pages on this site alone...pertaining to an account that, so far, doesn't have a shred of proof). I've been a civilian cop for 15 years and I am currently a shift SGT who supervises 12 officers. When the officer's audio/video is checked, the majority of citizen complaints are either TOTAL BS (btw, that can be prosecuted under 39-16-502-False Reports) or a misunderstanding of proper police procedure. Sometimes I don't like what I see when I review an officer's A/V, but it's a rarity. I'm not saying that this account can't be true...believe me, I've known some idiot THP Troopers (in fact, one was fired, in part, for something he did to me). I am saying that I'm not going to throw these Troopers under the bus just because some guy posts something on the internet.
  15. ? Wow, you can't believe the story or wow, these THP Troopers are inept?
  16. There is a THP Trooper named Michael Loftis, but I find this story hard to believe. IF it's true, I think we would all agree that THP should be less one, two, or three Troopers.
  17. That's what I was going to say. Wisconsin was 18 at that time, too.
  18. Thanks, didn't know that. When I had a Kimber 9mm full-sized, my favorites were the MetalForm .38Super mags (100% reliable). That was before the Wilsons were out and the other 9mm mags were crap, IMO.
  19. Every S&W 1911 I've ever played with ran like a top. Smith figured out how to do an external extractor when Kimber could not. I, too, have always liked 9mm 1911s. What mags is S&W using for their 9mm 1911s?
  20. No, problem...glad we could help.
  21. This (having been issued, and an Armorer for both, Glock and XD).
