  2. Really? I'm not a big fan of the TruGlos because of durability issues, but to say that you can't see a difference between them and Trijicons? OK. Anyway, Merry Christmas.
  3. Nightsights, holster, and ammo. You're done.

    G19 question

More is better, of course. But I think a realistic minimum is 200 rounds of practice ammo (I'd also re-try what gave you trouble before) and 50 rounds of your chosen defensive ammo. If that's trouble free, I think you're GTG. Again, that's a minimum and I'd prefer more, but some people have thinner budgets to think about.
  5. "Advice that you didn't ask for warning." The majority of your defensive training/practice should be 0-15 yards. If you agree with this, then the grain weight of your training bullet really doesn't matter. Yes, I've found that most 165gr rounds recoil slightly more than the 180gr rounds...but it's not enough to matter.
  6. Current Gen2/3 factory weight on the G19/23 is 18#. If it has ever changed (don't think so, but I'd have to research it to be positive), it's been many, many years ago.
  7. Thank you, Tom.
  8. I could have went all day without the visual of you "manscaping."
  9. This is the site I was referring to earier...thanks for clarifying. They either dropped the Glock line (doubt) or are just out of stock. My coworkers and I buy most of our Glocks from here. Even though they have a GA address, they do charge TN residents sales tax. I found that out the hard way.
  10. You're military? A Commander's signature on letterhead will get most models shipped straight to your unit for less than $425 (no tax/tics). There's a bunch, but lately I've been using Bud's Gunshop in KY with great result.

    G19 question

Must have been more than a "handful" of continued complaints for Glock to issue yet another updated recoil assembly. W4CCR, thanks for the update. As TGO David (and others here who know me) can attest, I'm usually the Gaston Kool-Aid drinker. I just think Gen4 9mms still need some tweeking. When fully tweeked, I'll jump in with both feet.
  12. Dolomite, check your 3rd link in post #16. Rock Island Armory, not Rock River Arms...common mistake.

    G19 question

With the Gen4's near perfect texture, I wouldn't bother. Not as rough as RTF, but much "grippy-er" than Gen2/3. What I love about Gen4... - interchangeable backstraps - new texture - new mag release IMO, Gen4 pretty much kills the aftermarket stiple/grip reduction business.

    G19 question

Was that the ugly stipled beast? That G19 has a 15# recoil spring that won't "limpwrist" malfunction.

    G19 question

Great, glad to hear it. My point being, if you take your own advice and Google, you'll find that there are generally more issues/problems with Gen4s and failures-to-cycle than the Gen2/3s. Glock has basically acknowledged this by way of the already several "updated/new" recoil guide rods for the Gen4s in the very short period of time since its introduction. I don't think that is subjective.
  16. Donut Palace (center of town) kicks KK's azz... uhh, so I've been told.

    G19 question

No need. I never said anything about the issue being "new." Worse is different than new.

Which I think is a bad thing and a step backward from the Gen3s.
  19. Don't worry, I'll grab some donuts for Thursday...
  20. Why Do Police Officers Train So Hard?
  21. I fool with aftermarket Glock rods/springs occasionally (I like Wolff 15lbs in my G19), but I'd just stay stock with the 26/27. Glock will sent you a new one and what happened to you is fairly rare.

    G19 question

As of right now, the newest versions have an "0 4" stamped on them, I believe. Googling "Glock Gen4 problems" (or something similar) will give you some reading material.

    Call Glock.

    G19 question

See post #28 in this thread for an example... Gen4 Glock 19 Range Report Thread:Please Place All Gen4 G19 Reports Here - Page 2 - M4Carbine.net Forums It seems that most Gen4 9mm complaints come from 115gr FMJ practice ammo. I don't recall any when using +P ammo...leading me to think that the Gen4 9mms are oversprung. Glock has always used the same recoil assemblies for 9mm and .40...and I've always disagreed with that. It wasn't really a reliability issue in the past with the old system, but it is now. If you call Glock, they'll probably just send you a new rod. I've heard that even newer versions for the G19 are coming out in December, but I can't confirm that first hand.

    G19 question

As pumped as I was about Gen4, I know of WAY too many problems being reported (especially with the 9mm versions) to buy one at this time. Most of the issues concern the new recoil system and although they have already introduced "upgraded" versions of the recoil rod, I don't think Glock has totally fixed the problem yet. -What number is on your recoil rod assembly? -Highly doubt it's a mag issue. BTW, I'm a Glock Armorer as well.
