  1. Totally understand, and yours is probably the best way. Thanks for relating a positive LE interaction. I'm usually on the other side of the contact...and the VAST majority are positive as well.
  2. Wrong. True. I really don't care if they tell me. 1. I treat all as if they are carrying (officer safety/tactics wise). 2. If they're a legal HCP holder, they're the least of my worries.
  3. The Thunderbirds dedicated today's show to him. Prayers to family and friends...
  4. Mindset LEADERSHIP AND TRAINING FOR THE FIGHT by Paul Howe EQUAL OR GREATER FORCE by Kit Cessna ON COMBAT by Dave Grossman PRINCIPLES OF PERSONAL DEFENSE by Jeff Cooper THE COMBATIVE PERSPECTIVE by Gabe Suarez Technique COMBATIVE FUNDAMENTALS by Jeff Gonzales HANDGUN COMBATIVES by Dave Spaulding THE BOOK OF TWO GUNS by Tiger McKee GREEN EYES AND BLACK RIFLES by Kyle Lamb (rifle specific)
  5. Seriously, Dude? Really? Put down the tinfoil and come back to Earth...
  6. I'm not. However, I do wonder if the announcement being made on the same date (May 1st) as Bush's "Mission Accomplished" speech was purely a coincidence...
  7. I've taken... Fighting Rifle (twice) Fighting Pistol Fighting Shotgun AK Armorer Low Light (not listed anymore) I'm taking another class there this month. Tactical Response offers some of the best training out there.
  8. I don't like open carry. My reasons... 1. Have nothing to do with being a cop. 2. Have to do with tactics, not personal rights/public perception issues. Unless it's discussing Cracker Barrel and the issue it is causing with them, going deeper into my reasons would probably be just be a thread drift. You could always start your own OC vs. CC thread.
  9. Dude, I'm not really sure why you're coming at me with this (and how being a cop has anything to do with the current topic). I thought that I was pretty clear in post #5 concerning my personal views vs. the way it is. Uhh, I have nothing to do with whatever society's views on open carry are.
  10. Please reread post #5 and then try to grasp that people are quite used to seeing uniformed police with guns.
  11. Exactly (except for the any reason part, but I get your point). And if they have to deal with it too much, they'll ban carry completely. Open carry, sigh...
  12. Unless something has changed (don't think so)... Russian Monarch is made by Barnaul (same as Brown Bear). Serbian Monarch is made by Prvi Partisan. I've shot a ton of Brown Bear in 7.62x39, .223, and 9mm and a bunch of Silver Bear in 5.45x39. Zero problems and it's my preferred practice ammo when I'm buying it.
  13. In a perfect world, people wouldn't be bothered by the sight of an open carried gun. Unfortunately, since that's not the case, I think CB is taking a reasonable stance with this, business wise, and are trying to please the most people. You can still carry a gun and the sheep aren't bothered. They could have just as easily posted all their locations.
  14. Yep, found this out the hard way before I knew. Locked it up so tight that I had to send it back to YHM to get it apart. BTW, their customer service was great.
  15. Holy crap! Gen5s are out! They clean themselves! Sorry, slow day...
  16. Over 10 years ago... Also, from the article you linked, "Two articles by Massad Ayoob stated that this pistol should not be CCW carried without the MSK installed..." 1. I read the same two articles. Unless I missed something, I didn't see a quote anywhere close to this. Not sure where Mr. Kirkpatrick got this. 2. It's a stupid thing to say.
  17. My Dept uses Lawman and aluminum Blazer for practice (we shoot at least 6 times a year and shoot alot of both in .40 and .45ACP). Lawman is good ammo for its intended purpose, but I'd rather buy/shoot the aluminum Blazer...even at the same price. We've had problems with Lawman (light primer strikes), and not Blazer. Admittedly, most (if not all) of the problems have been with the .40 Lawman. If you consider Lawman to be just practice ammo, then you're GTG...you might just get some malfunction clearance practice.
  18. Training in the rain... -Do you wear eyeglasses? -Is your gun's grip rough enough to get a good purchase when wet/bloody? -Do you practice your draw while wearing various clothing (rain coat, heavy jacket, etc.)? Your gun getting wet? Who cares...it's a tool. Wash it. If your gun can't be completely submerged, pulled out, shook off, and shot...there's a problem. Ammo that's going to be fired? It isn't going to rust during your range session. Regards
  19. I didn't vote because, of those listed, I only have experience with my YHM Mite...which I like. YHM also has great CS.
