best 1911 gunsmith in Nashville area?
TN-popo replied to Sam1's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I've had great 1911 experiences with both Jeff Walle and Sam Hoster. I've heard good things about Mr Calhoun and Mr Kandros, but have no direct dealings. You might also check into Hero Guns...sorry, his name escapes me at the moment. -
Thank you, Captain Obvious. :) BTW, are shotuguns chambered in .308?

Yeoman Farms - New Middle TN Training Facility
TN-popo replied to RobertNashville's topic in Training Discussions
Yeah, just heard about this place. When he gets operational, I'm interested in the feed and mend courses. -
I didn't know that either. Thanks for the info.

Obama tells Vietnamese that Ho Chi Min was inspired by our Founding Fathers.
TN-popo replied to a topic in General Chat
My Dad, who spent 18 months there as Army Infantry would disagree. "if only Ho and Truman could have done what Obama and Sang did this week, so much unpleasantness might have been avoided." Unpleasantness...that's rich. -
Plus, caselaw cancels #2 and #3.

Das war ein lustiges video. And I said that very soft and sweet... Grama would be proud. But yeah, German isn't exactly a chick-magnet. The French and Italians have that covered. ;)

Lingo-wise, "quota" is verboten in LE circles. "Stats driven" or "Standards" is in. Metro Nashville and other agencies are 'ate up' with it. Personally, I think it's just a crutch for lazy LE supervisors. Numbers don't tell the whole story. I know what my people are doing...regardless of what a Stat Sheet says. For instance, two different 3rd Shift officers... #1 stays on the main roads and writes 5 tickets during his shift. Yay. #2 listened in rollcall, heard about a neighborhood getting crushed with vandalisms and car burglaries, and makes it his mission that night (in between the calls-for-service he has to answer). At the end of the shift, he didn't catch anyone (white car with blue lights and POLICE all over it), but there were ZERO vandalisms and car burglaries that night. Because of this, #2 didn't write any tickets. Is #1 officer better than #2 officer? "Stats Driven" says he is. I say no.

I'm a "not-happy-about-taxes" guy too...I just happen to be one of Caster's worthless government worker types. Having said that, I'm going to give you the other side. The other day, we get a police call-for-service from someone because they had a wasp's nest in their garage. Really, they called the police for that. This kind of thing happens ALL THE TIME. It's a resource drain. Many people have either become so helpless that they turn to the government for everything OR they adopt the "Dammit, I pay taxes so I'll just make a phone call" attitude. A small cat at the end of your driveway? Sorry, I would never have called somebody for that, taxpayer or not. Deer, sure. A cat? 2 minutes, a shovel, and a garbage bag. Done. Current tax rates enrage me. No arguments. However, at some point it turns into a "chicken or egg" situation. We have too many people in this country with their hand out to the government, in some form, and not enough people doing more productive things with their hands.

On a regular traffic stop, I never ask a HCP holder where it is. I'll ask, "What are you carrying?" for two reasons. 1. Just curious about what people choose to defend themselves. 2. Continue to be amazed that about 60-70% say they don't have the gun with them. Sad.

A horror movie that would scare the crap outa me if it came out? "Eat, Pray, Love...Part 2"

The greatest coup / accomplishment / heist the Left ever did was gain control of the majority of America's education system. They have K-16 (at least) of near constant indoctrination...funded by us. They're constantly churning out voters who have never read the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Federalist Papers, etc. and vote accordingly. And we wonder how we got here? Sorry, but I believe we're past the point of no return.

Great job! Looks good, too. Gen4s and RTF models are the only Glocks that I don't have texturized...everything else gets it. Without it, shooting a Glock on a day like today is like shooting a wet fish. My Gen3 19 looks terrible and has been called "The Rash." But, it's stone-cold reliable and doesn't move in my hand. Function Over Form (Glocks are ugly to begin with).

1911 9MM Mags/1911 38 Super Mags--Interchangeable?
TN-popo replied to hipower's topic in General Chat
I had a couple different brands of 9mm mags at the time. The only brand I remember for sure was the Springfield OEM ones and they were not 100% reliable. The .38Super mags were Metalform and I never had a bit of trouble. 100% with at least 1000 rounds. This was just before Wilson came out with 9mm mags, though. I would not hesitate to use .38Super mags based on my experience...however, if I were buying mags today, I'd probably start out with 9mm Wilsons. -
No kidding. I've been pulling on mine all my life and have never come close to that. Anyway, IIRC, I believe he lives in Nashville.

1911 9MM Mags/1911 38 Super Mags--Interchangeable?
TN-popo replied to hipower's topic in General Chat
I used to have a 9mm, 5" Kimber that actually ran better with 38Super mags vs 9mm mags. 38Super Metalforms were always 100% reliable for me. That said, these days there are much better 9mm mag offerings available as opposed to back then. -
Hopefully it turns into this... Problem solved. http://www.opposingviews.com/i/society/crime/man-pulls-part-penis-high-mushrooms-video

Functional? Optimal setup or not, guys who make statements like this usually can't hold 4MOA off a bench with anything...
