  1. Anyone gonna be there?
  2. So my mom is going to be getting my brother an MP3 player for Christmas and I told him I would put some songs on it for him. I have never dealt with these things, so I don't know where the best place to download music from is. I'm not asking for these "free" sites, just legitimate/safe download site where you pay so much for each song. I know itunes seems to be popular, but not sure if the MP3 player has to be an IPOD to download from there? Or if there are cheaper places to get them? So does anyone have any suggestions?
  3. If you are going to the range just to blow through some rounds, what is your favorite gun to take? As far as accuracy or just plain fun to shoot. (When not considering the cost of ammo). Just Curious?
  4. And yeah, I am going to try my best to make everything as consitent and fair as possible. I plan on using a bi-pod on the rifle and probably shoot 50yds and possibly 100yds as well. I had also planned on doing a simple bore clean in between each brand of ammo as well. Thanks!
  5. Thats another thing I was curious about, How(if any) does the grain weight relate to accuracy? Even if it doesn't, What exactly does "XX Grain" mean? And what does it affect?
  6. To keep things simple, Lets talk regarding to .22LR ammo. I'm in the process of gathering up some various .22lr ammo to perform my own "ammo shoot-out" to see what I can get the best groups out of my gun(Savage MkII) with, while also keeping in mind the price of the ammo.....I am talking "mid-priced" ammo(anywhere from $4-8/9 bucks a box[per 50]). I am basically buying what I can buy that I have heard several people say "this shoots good for me" or something to that effect. So my question is....I know this is probably a very broad question, but could someone explain to me the benefit/differences between "hyper-velocity" vs. std loads...other than just difference in FPS. Or if that is the difference, how does that relate to accuracy? Outside of just price, What makes you say..."hey, this might be worth a try in my gun"? Again, I am talking more than just plinking ammo. I am wanting to see what kind of real groups I can get out of the gun. Thanks guys!
  7. I don't think you'll be dissapointed in the Savage. I know I really like mine. We need pics when you get it!
  8. Well, Myself....I do know with those factory grips that I am definitely not comfortable shooting it.....I feel like its going to fly out of my hand. If it were mine, it might be different, but I don't feel different grips is going to make that much difference for my mom as far as the recoil goes. But before we look into something else, I may see about getting some lighter loads to try and see what she thinks. Thanks Guys.
  9. Thanks Guys, I realize this is not a range gun by any means, however it seems if its going to be use for self defense...that their should be some accuracy to it. And I know if I have a hard time handling it, I can definetly see how it would be rough for my mom. She doesn't really carry it with her much, and if she does...it would be in her purse, so weight isn't really a huge deal(lord knows all the crap in a womans purse weighs more than any handgun...lol). I think I am going to suggest her to look into something else. May have to go try out some more guns one day. Thanks again!
  10. So I need your guys opinion on this gun. My mom currently has one(she bought it not really doing any research into guns and just went on what the gun dealer told her ). Anyways, Like the title says....It's a Smith 637 Airweight J-Frame(.38 SPL +P). A few months back(when I was researching my first handgun purchase), we went down to coalcreek on "ladies night" so she could shoot hers, and I could try out a few. Anyways, This was the first time my mom had even fired the gun, and first time I had as well. We got in there, my mom took one shot, and quick....she wouldn't shoot it anymore. So I gave it a try and my thought was WOW...this thing sucks to shoot. However like I said, that was the first time shooting a handgun, so I didn't really know. But after having shot several 9mm's now and a few 40's, I took hers back up to norris with me yesterday, and I still don't like shooting that thing at all, and can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. Granted I was shooting the ammo the gunshop where she bought it sold her(Lawman .38 +P 158gr), so I think that +P ammo may have abit to do with it, but i'm just wondering if this really is a suitable gun for her? I was thinking maybe different grips on it might help abit, but I don't know if it would be worth it, or if she just needs to look into another gun, and possibly something abit smaller caliber(however I still think a revolver would be fine...just maybe something abit easier for her to shoot). What do you guys think? And any suggestions?
  11. Well if anyone decides to show up, I should be there. Probably get there around noon-ish or so.
  12. Your telling me no one is going to shoot tomorrow? 70 degrees and sunny all day!
  13. I don't know too much about the older guns, however I just purchased my first C&R type gun, which is a Yugo M59/66A1 SKS and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I was lucky enough to be able to shoot a few of these guns before I bought mine, and I really liked shooting each one. And now the same goes for mine. You can find some deals on the Yugo's as well if you look around, they can be found for $300 bucks or better....depending on if you buy from an individual or from a retailer.
  14. I have the Savage MK II and I can tell you I love mine. It was my first rifle which I just bought back in the spring and I can say I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Mine doesn't have the accu-trigger on it, and it is just the base model, but I have put on some raised Leupold scope rings where I could still use the irons if I wanted, a Tasco 3-9 x 40 scope, and a wally world bi-pod and I have no problem getting 2" groups @ 50yds with cheap ammo(remington thunderbolts). And mine eats those remingtons no problem....I've put probably at least 1000-1500 rounds through it and 90% of that has been thunderbolts and i've had VERY few duds and really no issues whatsoever. I don't really know anything about the 597, but I can tell you I don't think you would be dissapointed with the Savage.
  15. Anyone planning on going? Or want to?
  16. Glad you found the site, Really a great place. I'm sure you won't have a problem finding an SKS on here. Welcome!
  17. Happened to catch the first episode last weekend and I was hooked, Just got to watch last nights episode on the DVR and was just as good. Already can't wait til next weekends episode.
  18. The rifle....There's no question about OS.
  19. Hmm...Does this qualify as a "Curio/Relic"? By the way, Thanks guys!
  20. As for me....See my thread in Curio, Relics and Black Powder forum. Basically that, plus accesories for that.
  21. It was good to see you guys at the show today, enjoyed it and got myself quite afew new goodies!
  22. Picked this up at the show today from a fellow TGO'er(Thanks FUJIMO!). I got to take it out and shoot about 60 rounds through it after the show, and I must say....I am definitely satisfied with my purchase. Out of the 60 rounds of TULAMMO, I had one jam...however this could've been the way I put the round in the gun because I was loading it without the stripper clip, and it was also the first round of 10 I shot through the gun? No problems after that. Anyways, Here's a couple pics....
  23. See you guys in the morning! If you find Garufa in his TGO hat, I shouldn't be too far away. We'll all try to meet up tomorrow and decide where to hit for some grub.
  24. What's your point....?
  25. What he said...
