  1. Thanks guy, I really appreciate the input. How much does a typical used M&Pc run?(pricewise) If I do get one of these, I would like to find a deal on a used one, since they are quite abit more than the Kahr. Also, Does the S&W warranty transfer to the 2nd owner?
  2. How is the warranty on S&W guns?(ie. M&Pc) I couldn't find anything regarding warranty on the Kahr website, so I shot them an email. Got a reply back this morning...5yrs for the original owner. That would be fine with me, but I suppose warranty is something I should still consider. What do you guys think?
  3. Gotcha! I was just reading that after I replied and was wondering...
  4. Thats really abit larger than what i'm wanting I believe. If I read their site right, It shows those 3.8's to be 7inches long?
  5. The one thing that is kinda in the back of my head with the Kahr is that there is no actual safety on the gun(aside from the DA trigger). Should this be a concern for me? I know alot of people recommend revolvers to alot of newbies, so I couldn't see this being a big issue. What is your guys thoughts on that?
  6. So its either Glock or nothin' with you guys huh? I've seen so many comments on this site, and several others about "Get what fits you best, and what your comfortable with"....guess that doesn't apply here? I've looked at the glocks, and I just don't like them...they don't fit my hand comfortably. The grips are too thick for me. Not saying the guns aren't reliable or anything, but they just don't fit me. Which is why i'm consider the S&W or the Kahr.
  7. PM Sent! Thanks!
  8. So I stopped by the local gunshop(again) today. I checked out the M&P(they didn't have the compact version, but he told me the compact was very similar in the grips feel)....I like it. I also checked out the XDc...I liked it, but felt abit too bulky, mainly the grip I guess(again...I have small hands). So between those two, I would say the M&P won out, although I would really like to check out the compact version. I also found another gun I would like to throw in the mix....Kahr CW9. Grip felt nice for my hands, I could get a good grip on it, size is perfect, not too thick. Out of these three, this one is probably my favorite as far as feel, and the price tag was getting down there close to my range. He had it priced 459-469(i think), but he said he could wiggle a little bit on that as well. So if I could get it down closer to $400-425, that may very well be the one I end up with. What do you guys know about this gun?
  9. Thanks guys, I do appreciate the input. I'm still not sold on "all Taurus' are junk", but if I do look into a S&W M&Pc or a XDc, they will have to be used. I guess it will just come down to what I can find in my price range, and feel comfortable with. I'll be sure to keep you guys updated. Still wish I could find one of each to try out before I buy, Hoping maybe Coal Creek has one of these when I go back there. Thanks again.
  10. I have read the reviews on the Taurus'...on several different forums, but most(I realize not all) are based on the older millennium pro guns. I see there are still issues with some of the newer guns, but seems to me not near like there was with older models. I also see alot of people talk about how happy they are with there Taurus guns as well. I just simply can't afford to spend 5-600 dollars on a gun. And I don't have enough knowledge of what i'm looking at to trust myself on buying a used gun.
  11. I have looked/felt of several different guns in my price range. I would rather buy a new gun myself rather than used, and would also rather purchase locally if I can get a descent deal. I have handled these guns(pt111) and I like the feel of them. I have handled a glock(not positive, but i'm pretty sure it was the g26) and I didn't like that thick grip on it(I have small hands). I have looked at the Taurus 709, which I like, but think I prefer the pt111 to it. Also looked at a Kel Tec P11, which was descent, but still prefer the pt111. As well as a few others at my local gunshop. Problem with firing these guns, is that there isn't anywhere that seems to carry this gun for a rental. I don't really have anyone close to me thats really into guns either that may have anything that i'd like. Also, If I do get a gun, Definetly the first thing I will do is look into taking a safety course of some kind. I'm not the daring "learn myself" kind of guy when it comes to guns...haha. I appreciate the input though.
  12. Does anyone know where I might get my hands on a Taurus PT111 to shoot? I know Coal Creek doesn't have one, and I checked with Sevier Indoor Range and they don't have one either. I just called a local place that can order me a new Millenium Pro PT111 for $375, and I am seriously thinking about looking into it. Although I would really like to be able to shoot one first, as i've never even shot a handgun myself.
  13. I am actually going to be going back to Coal Creek next tuesday with my mom(she's wanting to shoot her .38). I just looked on their site again and it does say they have a XDc .40 and a glock 26, so i'm gonna see about trying those out as well. Their price is $7.50 for the range(on ladies night since i'll be with my mom), and $15 to rent any gun they got...plus ammo of course. So I may get to try out those two out anyway.
  14. Thanks alot guys! Do any of you happen to know anywhere that I might get my hands on some of these suggestions? I have looked at the Taurus', but haven't looked at the XD's or Glocks yet. Would really like to find a place that I could try them out. I have been to Coal Creek in knoxville, but they don't carry the PT111, and I think the only other small guns they had in their rental center was maybe a G26(although i'm not sure on that even).
  15. I am in the market for my first gun. I am specifically looking for something in either a Compact or Sub-Compact. I have my eye on a Taurus PT111 imparticular, but am willing to check out others if I could find a good deal on one used. I am wanting to stay under 400 dollars, thus saying "used" on other brands. A couple other guns I might consider would be a Glock 26 or Springfield XDsc. Looking for something in a 9mm preferably, but might consider a .380 or .40 if I found the right deal. I was hoping you guys might lend me a few suggestions on if there are any other options in this size/caliber range I might want to check out? If anyone does, I would really appreciate it. Thanks
  16. Hey Guys, New to the site. I live in Tazewell, which is about an hour north of Knoxville. New to guns as well, looking into purchasing my first handgun within the next month or two. It will be a home protection, as well as a possible ccw. I have my eye set on a Taurus PT111(3rd Gen), unless I find a good deal(wanting to stay under $400) on something used along the lines of a XD9sc, Glock 26, etc. I am also hoping to find somewhere that I can test fire one of these Taurus PT111, to get the feel for one. I have been to Coal Creek Armory in knoxville, but the only Taurus they had was the 709, which I have considered, but all things considered, I believe I would prefer the PT111. If anyone happens to know where I might find one of these that I could try out, If they could let me know, That would be great. Thanks!
