  1. So me and my dad ran to Maryville yesterday, and I decided to take along my new(to me) M&P9c to test out for the first time. We swang by Gunny's and got all registered up and down to the firing range we went. My dad and I shot a total of 85 rounds(50 Blazer Brass and 35 WWB) and didn't have the first hiccup. I really love this gun, I was lucky enough to be able to try one out before I bought mine(Thanks m&pc9!) , and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Also, A little "blurp" about S&W customer service. When I bought this gun, It didn't have the two other replaceable backstraps(small or large), so I shot S&W an email asking if they could send them to me, the next day or so I got a reply back requesting my mailing address and said they would get them in the mail right away...no questions asked. Just got home from my dads tonight and they have already gotten here. So needless to say, they get a +1 for that!
  2. Even thought it was COLD, I hate I missed it. Maybe we can do something like this again soon?
  3. So how did it go out there today guys? Did you freeze to death? Shesh, Don't think they hit the forecast quite right today...
  4. Well, Just heard from my dad, and I am going to have to help him on a job tomorrow. So I probably won't be able to make it tomorrow. But hopefully sometime soon we can work something out again and maybe meet a few of you guys. I may even try to get out on Friday(if the weather holds out)..looks like its supposed to be nice out. If anyone would like to try to meet up then, Let me know.
  5. Haha, For me it would have to be about 3 hours though. It'll take me about an hour to get there, maybe an hour or so to shoot around, then an hour to get back. Maybe i'll get to join you guys, but if not...I'll just have to catch you next time.
  6. Sounds Great, but i'm not quite sure i'll be able to make it Tuesday. I may have to work with my dad, I won't know until tomorrow(monday), but i'll post on here wether or not I can go. BTW, if I do get to come....Look for the young, short, (I like to say "stocky") guy who looks like he doesn't have a clue, with a single gun...That'll be me...haha.
  7. Just wondering if anyone in the knoxville area ever goes shooting during the week? I've got my new M&P9c and dying to get out and try it out, but don't really have anyone to go shoot with. Closest range(s) for me would probably be either Norris or the John Sevier range. So if anyone would like to get together and go, let me know.
  8. Does anyone happen to have any pics of how they have their bags "packaged"? Do you use gun rugs for you individual guns, then seperate pockets for your mags, then just have the ammo in the bottom of the bag? Just kinda curious, Looking at getting myself a range bag of some sort and curious what my "requirements" need to be when shopping.
  9. Just found this range listing on TWRA's website. Has anyone ever shot here? Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - John Sevier Hunter Education Center
  10. Anyone going to be at Norris this Sat.? Got my new gun and dying to give er' a whirl.
  11. Well, I finally managed to get that first handgun I have been wanting. I had plans to have one by mid-Jan and I ended up getting laid off work, so that put that on hold. I've been able to pay my bills, but extra cash hasn't been easy to come by, but I got my tax refund in and was that was able to fund my new toy. Anyways, Here is a couple pics I just took...
  12. Hey guys, Well I finally got that gun I had been wanting....Thank you tax return . Ended up with a used M&P9c from a fellow TGO'er...Thanks! Anyways, I got a question for you guys. Since it will be a couple days before I get to shoot it, I had to play with my new toy this evening...haha. Went by walmart and got a bottle of Hoppes #9 solvent, a pistol cleaning kit, and some remington gun aerasol spray oil(Is this stuff OK?). I decided I would practice stripping, cleaning, and lubing the gun. I found what looked to be a good detailed "how-to" on youtube...this one(this is the first of 5) .When you guys are using the solvent, do you use it just inside the barrel? Or do you use a solvent soaked pad for cleaning/wiping off the entire gun?(does a polymer frame change anything?) Also, I have noticed in reading that quite afew of you guys use grease for your slides. What kind of grease is good to use for this?(and easy to get) Anything else I need to know(that I may overlook) on cleaning/lubing this gun as well?
  13. Thanks guys. I really appreciate the input, advice, and suggestions. I will be going tomorrow to try to get a few things figured out(unemployment, insurance, etc). After I find out how much i'll be drawing, I guess that'll determine my next move(aside from just getting my resume out there).
  14. Does that depend on what your previous income was though? I have worked at this place for over 4yrs now, so not sure how all that works. Never had to draw unemployment.
  15. Yeah, I will be able to draw unemployment, just not sure how much yet. Gotta wait til monday to check in with the unemployment office to see what I can get. Honestly though, The biggest thing for me is insurance. I am a diabetic, and have meds I have to take regularly, not to mention doctor visits and such as well. But anyways, I'll figure something out.
  16. Hey guys, Just found out today that the place I work is gonna start cutting back on hours, and employees. Unfortunetly for me, I am one of the ones being let go. So I ask that you guys keep me in your thoughts. I do still live at home, but I do have bills to keep paid up and such, so I am hoping to get back into the working force ASAP. PS. I am looking for a position dealing with Computer Aided Drafting(CAD), so if anyone happens to know of any available positions in the Knoxville/Morristown area, I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks guys.
  17. I plan on taking one of these eventually, but I guess i'm just wanting abit more simple something at the moment. This is my first gun, so I'm not quite ready to get my carry permit either as i'm not really planning on carrying it right now. Thanks anyways though. There has already been a fellow TGO member offer to take me to the range today and "tutor" me on some of these things. This is good because for awhile, i'm gonna be tight on money anyway after buying this gun...haha. Just wanting to get to where I can be abit more comfortable to where I could go out to shoot and practive by myself and not be super nervous.
  18. Hey Guys, So as long as nothing comes up, I am hoping to be purchasing my first gun next week(M&P9c). Anyways, I was just wanting some suggestions. I know there are a couple different sponsors that do this, but location is also a key. Where would you guys recommend for the best "bang for the buck"(pun intended ) for a beginners training course(not HCP class)? Mainly dealing with safety and general gun handling I suppose. I live in Tazewell(hour north of knoxville) so the closer the better, also price is a concern as well. I have looked through the gun course suggestions thread in this seciton, but just looking for some more particular suggestions for what I need. Anyways, Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
  19. I noticed both of these run about the same price for a box of 50(9mm). I was just wondering if there is much difference between the two? If you were just going to the range to shoot, would you hesitate to buy either? Just kinda thinking once I get my gun, If I can't find one...will the other be fine? These two seem to be pretty common as far as "range rounds", just wanting to make sure?
  20. If that date is too soon, thats fine. I just threw it out there to maybe get the ball rolling. I know I won't be able to make it the following weekend(16th) tho.
  21. Ok, Since no one else is speaking up, I'll be the newb and do that... How about Jan 9th? Saturday. Those who wanted to could meet earlier at Sevier Indoor Range, they close at 5pm, then go grab a bite to eat at Tony Gores?
  22. Bubbatn

    S&W Warranty?

Which is why i'll have one....soon as I come up with the green.
  23. Bubbatn

    S&W Warranty?

Great info guys! Really appreciate it!
  24. Has anyone done any kind of party or meeting of some sort at a Mr. Gattis? It was brought to my attention that they have seperated rooms, however on their site....they offer "package deals" only if you get the buffet. I am just wondering if they will just cut deals on individual pizzas? Like I said, We are a non-profit club, so cost is the main issue....and paying 6-7 bucks(per person) for buffet just isn't gonna be cheap by no means. Where-as if we could get a deal on 5-6 bucks for large individual pizza's....it would be alot more cost effiecient. Anyways, Just curious if anyone had ever held a party or anything like that at Mr. Gattis? I also have a email sent in to the Holiday Inn there at Cedar Bluff, so hoping to maybe hear something from them. Thanks guys.
