Tell me about it! I shot better with it than I did with my own gun(M&P9c)...HA! Definetly a nice gun, and nice feeling trigger as well. -
Anyone up for shooting this friday(2nd) afternoon/evening?
Bubbatn replied to Bubbatn's topic in Events and Gatherings
Welp, I had the pleasure of meeting and shooting with Daniel(smopoim86) this evening. We had a great time, and I got to play with a few of his toys...I liked that HK p7psp & p2000sk. -
Edit*...Nevermind, After some thinking and a little researching here on the net, I think I have decided. I believe I am going to go with the Marlin 981T(bolt action, tubular mag...http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/BoltAction22/981T.asp). What do you guys think? Throw me a descent scope on there and I should be good to go. Now I just gotta shop around and find me a deal on one.

Well shoot, I won't be able to make it this saturday due to other plans. But I hope you guys have a good time.
-
The Walmart in Middlesboro is the one I checked. They had a spot for two marlins(both gone) and I don't recall seeing a spot for a 10/22(not sure if they even offer that one)....but the Savages is the only 2 they had, however I did like the feel of those....but would like to be able to compare each side-to-side. Thanks for the input guys, I'll keep you updated on what I come up with.
-
Thanks guys, However as far as modifying one....I'm not too worried. Probably a decent scope would be about all i'd be interested in. I went and checked out a few today, I didn't have a place where I could compare them side by side, but I looked at the savage Mark II bolt action from walmart($137) which seemed pretty nice for the price...they also had the semi-auto version for the same price. Still going to have to look around abit and hopefully find somewhere I can look at them side-by side. I know some of you guys said you prefer a bolt action over a semi-auto, but just found out that Marlin is offering a $25 rebate on this 795(which is a semi-auto). What do you guys think? http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/SelfLoading/795.asp Also, How do you guys feel on the subject of tube fed vs. magazine fed?
-
I would be up to drive up one day to help clean up. I'm out of the job right now, so I need something to do anyway...haha.
-
Thanks guys, Guess I will have to do a little shopping and looking around to see what I like. Also, If I found a used .22(which I wouldn't be opposed to if the price was right)....what would be a good price for something comparable to these mentioned?
-
So you said the Savage is somewhere in the range of 120-130, what about a standard(comparable or semi-auto) Marlin or Ruger? BTW, If I bought new, I would prefer the synthetic stock assuming the price isn't much difference.
-
So could someone explain to me the major differences between a semi-auto vs. a bolt action? Aside from obviously having to work the bolt(I guess thats the right term?) each time you pull the trigger? Is capacity the same in a bolt action vs. a semi-auto?
-
Thanks guys, You all gave me the advice that I was thinking about, which was go with the .22 first for fun(and cost). Now the fun part, I get to go shopping Thanks guys.
-
Well, I could afford either honestly(not both at the moment), but the cheaper the better...haha. I'm just mainly looking for suggestions on .22 or shotgun(not considering price). I am thinking the fun factor would be better with the .22...but just looking for some other point of views.
-
Yes, I eventually plan on having both a .22 and a shotgun of some sort, however at the moment....budget is a factor, so that is why i'm considering the .22 over the shotgun as well(plus the fun factor and cost of ammo).
-
Hey guys, I need some suggestions and opinions. I am pondering on looking into my first long gun, however i'm not sure what I want to get. My choice is between a .22 rifle(just for fun shooting), or an 870 for again....fun shooting, and possibly home protection as well. The .22 will be cheaper obviously, and cheaper to shoot as well....but the 870 is abit more gun. So just looking for suggestions on what you guys think?

I don't really know locally, but I know if you haven't used it before....You can send them an email(via their site) and request a sample and they will send you one of their oiler pens for free. I sent them a request actually wondering if they offered grease samples, but the oiler pen is what I got. Can't complain either way. From what i've read and experienced, seems like a good company anyway.

That gun looks familiar Congrats!
-
My next one will probably be either a Remington 870 or some sort of semi-auto .22 rifle(marlin, ruger, etc). Not sure which yet though.:-\
-
You can count me in. Love to meet some of you guys and maybe shoot abit while i'm at it.
-
I had a brand new one priced at $525(give or take 5...can't remember exactly....not counting tax or background check) before I found mine used. I believe anywhere from 525-550 is the "going" rate from what I found.
-
I bought mine used from a fellow TGO'er. Not quite yet...haha. This is my first gun. Give me a few times at the range and i'll see what I can come up with.
-
This is more along the lines of what I was thinking...keeping the gun rug unzipped(just using it to protect the finish on the gun), and keep it under the mattress just at the edge where it could be easily accessed.
-
This is one of the reasons I was thinking more about a gun rug...to keep down on abrasion. Anyone else ever had this issue?
-
So i'm pondering on getting either a holster or gun rug and start keeping my M&P9c under my mattress(loaded). My question is....Is this safe? Would you guys see any problem with this? I actually don't have a bedside stand, so just trying to weigh my options? BTW, There are no kids in the house.
-
Sorry, Didn't get any pics while at the range(i'm still working on my accuracy...haha). But here is the pic I took of the gun after I got it...
