  1. I could probably eat these things all day long...
  2. I believe either will work, the 16's are just what my local gunshop had in stock. The #16's state they work for the Savage 93F, which is basically identical to the Mark II, the 93 is just in WMR round vs. the .22lr of the Mark II. So i'm assuming the receivers are basically identical(aside from chamber diamter? All I know is that they work on mine, I made sure they tried them on one of the other savages they had in stock before I got them(after I had already bought the gun). Either way, A 24 or 16 should work for you.
  3. Your gun more than likely just has the pre-drilled/tapped holes for scope mount bases. The reason I know this is because I just bought the same gun(standard Savage Mark II). If yours doesn't have the bases already attached to the gun(or didn't include them), then you will need some bases to mount your scope rings onto. What you will need is Weaver #16 bases. These are the ones that worked for mine, so they should work for yours. (You'll need two, they only come 1 base to a pack) Link... http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=360914 Then here is the style rings that I got on mine that attach to those bases..... http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=216847 Hope this helps!
  4. Oh well, Guess i'll just have to wait til next month. Never been to one, and thinking I might enjoy browsing through one. Thanks!
  5. Anyone know of any gun shows coming up soon in the Knoxville/Morristown area?
  6. Canada is definetly a different "creature". I got turned away at the border(going into Ontario) last year for just having a chapstick sized pepper spray in my truck last year...haha. I had to turn back and get rid of it before they would let me through. I don't know how it is in the other provinces....but i'm pretty sure Ontario for sure doesn't allow any weapons to enter.
  7. I don't know first hand or anything, But my guess would be yes. Columbia is a great brand known for quality outdoor apparel/gear...so if I had the money and needed one, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Columbia tent.
  8. Great, Thanks!
  9. Very Nice! Looks familiar! I know I have no complaints on mine so far.
  10. Wasn't quite sure where to post this, but here it goes....if it needs to be moved, feel free. I found a few threads about this using search, but nothing too recent...so I thought I would post just to make sure. With no HCP, are the laws on transporting a long gun the same as a handgun(unloaded, seperated from the ammo)?
  11. Yeah, The store I got it from does have them, but I just wanted to make sure there aren't different sizes of them or anything(the woman there that day wasn't quite sure about them). To make sure the rails would work with the mounts, and the mounts would work with the scope. And Mike, Thanks! I may take you up on that as long as the mounts would work with whatever scope I end up with?
  12. No, Here is a picture of basically the same gun I have, except this one has the rails already attached(which I need).... If you look at the standard "Mark II F" model on the Savage Site, it doesn't show the rails, nor does it mention it coming with them. It just says it has the pre-drilled/tapped holes.
  13. Was just looking on the Savage site and they show a few of them that have the rails already installed, but the regular "Mark II F" shows no rails. It just has the drilled/tapped holes. Which model do you have?
  14. I was just wondering if anyone that has this same gun could give me some first hand experience on mounting a scope on it? It has the pre-drilled holes for mounting scope mounts, however I would like to make sure that whatever scope I buy will clear the factory sites on it(as I really don't want to have to remove them). Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to make sure of this without actually trying a scope on first?
  15. Thanks, I do believe I am going to really like this gun. As far as the color, I don't think I will really want to change it anytime soon. I kinda like that the color is different from the typical wood or black synthetic.
  16. Snapped a few pics of my new toy.
  17. Well, When I went to the local gunshop, they stated they only had to have something stating your current address. Since I am still living at home, I don't have a utility bill with my name, and i've got my PO Box on most of my other bills. Luckily my TWRA fishing liscense had my physical address, so they just made a copy of that...haha. My drivers license has to be updated in June of this year anyway, so I will have my current address on there after June.
  18. Sorry about the delay on my payment, Have been at my dads since yesterday(no internet). Payment has been sent! Thanks!
  19. Well Guys, I finally made my purchase. I ended up going with the Savage Mark II. Was planning on buying it from walmart, but the guy behind the counter was a typical walmart employee(couldn't care less if I bought something or not)...and he gave me some crap about my current address not being on my drivers liscense(moved about a year ago and haven't had my liscense changed)...said it was "federal law" and couldn't sell one to me without that. So I went down the road to the local gun shop(Mikes Gun Shop), they had the same identical gun(except in a tan, I guess its called "dark earth", stock...which I actually kinda like) and I got one there. It was about $20 more at the gunshop, but I know if I ever do have any problems with it that I would get ALOT better customer service from them than I would at wallyworld. Anyways, Had it down at my dads yesterday and today and got about 50(give or take) rounds through it so far. And so far, Not a single problem. After I get used to it, and maybe set me up some kind of shooting stand and such...I don't think i'll have any problem with accuracy. Keep in mind, this is my first rifle, so i'm not expecting to be able to split cards anytime soon...haha. I'll try to get some pics up in the next couple days. I appreciate everyones suggestions and input, Thanks guys!
  20. Count me in, Shoot me a PM with info on where to send. I(well...my family actually, while I was in Childrens Hospital in Knoxville for a week when I was 14) had to use the Ronald McDonald House, so this is a great cause. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far!
  21. Ha! You got a point, However I was just hoping someone had been there or dealt with them before. Anyways, I may end up looking into them sometime anyway.
  22. Because their at least an hour away from me...haha. Thats why I was wanting to know ahead of time.
  23. So will there be another clean-up session before the actual "shoot em up"? If so, I would love to be able to make it up and help out.
  24. This website i'm using to get rough "going" prices on some 22's is showing a "The Gun Shack" in Luttrell. Just wondering if anyone has ever heard/dealt with them or if they know much about them? They seem to have the cheapest prices(showing on that site...gun places closest to me), so if it is a well run place, I would like to look into them. Any info would be great. Thanks
  25. Thanks Desert Rat, I actually visited every gun place around here today...haha. East End Pawn(in middlesboro), Mikes Gun Shop in middlesboro, and Mikes in tazewell. East End Pawn did have a nice(looked nice to me anyways) Marlin 60 with wood stock/grip and stainless barrel for $169.99...but wasn't sure how that price was for a used gun? They also had another Marlin 60 that had an aftermarket stock/grip of some sort and a cheapo Bushnell scope on it for $159(? I think). Other than that, the rest they had either didn't interest me, seemed too steep, or looked in too rough of shape. I did find a Marlin 795 at Mikes in middlesboro that I really thought about getting, could've got it for about $135+tax. I just think I would prefer a tube loaded magazine rather than just a 10shot regular mag? Still just weighing the options and trying to figure what I want.
