I'll also say hunting coyote at night is very different from day hunting. Calling is much the same, but target identification is a different story. We don't need to get it legalized in TN just to shoot someone's dog. There is several ways to make sure it's a coyote, but if I'm not 100% sure I don't shoot. If the guide tells me to hit it and I'm 99% sure it's a coyote, I don't shoot. First they have to be shaped like a coyote of course. Second they have to move like a coyote. In packs it's fairly obvious, but a single coyote....Oddly enough, the best way is to ask the coyote if he's a coyote. LOL. It doesn't work if they've been hunted at night for a while, but if you say "hay dog" or make it aware you are there, dog and coyotes act differently. A dog will bark at you or run back to the house. A coyote stands it's ground for a bit and goes dead quiet. I've watched them circle my hunting partner with in 30 yards. I've had them just sit down in front of us and watch us for 20 minutes. We've had them follow us around as we look for pigs. I also have a dog that looks exactly like a coyote though NV or Thermal and that's probably why I'm a bit more curious. I have had some places I hunt tell me I'm required to shoot coyotes even if I have a monster pig standing next to it.

I have considered this scope. I am setting up a second gun so we can use it as a guest gun or if something fails 10 hours from the house. It's been getting some good reviews, but I wanted a few more out in the field first. It's super cheap as far as thermals go. https://nightvisionuniverse.com/products/bering-optics-super-hogster-r-2-9-11-6x35mm-ultra-compact-thermal-weapon-sight-scope-384x288-50hz-w-tactical-lockable-qd-mount-be43045t Recently a new thermal has been put out that stopped that idea. As soon as my NOX arrives I'm selling the Trijicon and getting the Halo xrf. I don't know what your budget is, but wow what a scope. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1075750352849834

You don't have to spend tons. You have options. A smokeless sabotless muzzleloader conversion can be $400 ish, but it can be as expensive as you want to spend. I run a 275 at 2850 and I run 100-150 fps under what it could do.

This is my smokeless muzzleloader, but I use this and a ultralight version of this for all my night hunting. You can get a much cheaper version that works about 95% as good.

Ar10 308 Trijicon 35mm reap ir thermal The thing on the side is a Silencerco radius. At night your ability to judge distance is greatly diminished. The radius is a LRF that can be adjusted to the crosshairs of the scope. Anything I see gets ranged. If we are hunting with any NV guys, I use the IR laser pulses to point out targets so everyone knows what and were to shoot. I also run an ir strobe sometimes depending on what we are hunting and who we are hunting with.

That was the entire reason ATN was created.

Set up already.

I've got a suppressor for that. LOL

I'm tired of cheap $12 rubber hunting boots, but I don't need $225 snake boots. Any good in-between boots. I'll be in mud and a few rattle snakes . $85-125ish.

Has anybody tried reloading primers yet?

Well, there's is a way you can get the priming mix out and use it. Not the safest thing in the world, but...... -

Have you noticed percussion caps going out out stock lately? I will leave it at that. -
Well I should have read the post better. LOL

It's no problem unless the case has a crimp. Best bet is to turn them into 300 blackout.

Day 3. Can't wait for the snow this afternoon. Working more overtime than straight time, but miss the kids. I'm pretty sure the lady at Waffle house was high as a kite this morning.

Stay away from Geyer Springs. It may be okay now, but in the 90s.....WOW

Day two of driving from one end of Nashville to the other. So far it's much better and less police. The traffic signals are having issues. Power is off in places and the only places to eat are Mexican restaurants and a Jimmy John's. Funny, after hours in 9° to 12°.....it doesn't feel that cold anymore.

30 minutes from my law and I'm tired. Off to the motel.
-
Stopping on hills and waiting on people to roll up behind them. At that point they start yelling at them over the external speakers. "Stay off my bumper ".
-
LOL cops are screwing with people.

Well, just called in to work. We're going to see what the roads are like today.
-
I'm off today. I parked the work truck at the bottom of my driveway. Probably a good call. It's usually funny parking it there because it looks like a police suv with lights and antenna all over it, but nobody is speeding today. Maybe I should bust out the radar gun. LOL

They think it's a problem with her medication for her diabetes insipidus. Her adrenal insufficiency causes all kinds of issues. When she's at risk of adrenal crisis we have to take turns staying up with her. On a normal night we just get up every hour or so and check her. Before she goes into crisis, we "normally" have a few weeks when she's having odd issues that gives us a heads up. The result is an extreme change in multiple things like blood sugar, sodium, iron, magnesium among others. In one instance all of her hair fell out in less than a week. We were told nothing was wrong with her from one doctor. A second doctor told us she had leukemia. A low level lab tech that couldn't sleep at night figured it out. We know we're not going to catch it one time and we're going to lose her, but we knew this going in. She was never supposed to walk, talk, eat real food, have any kind of vision, or live this long. It took me 8 months to get her eating baby food. 5 months to crawl. 1 year to walk. 2 years at potty training. Her bio mother was keeping her and one of her brothers locked in a closet. She was literally a blind feral child when we got her. We can't control a hart problem, but after working with her medication, she hasn't shown any issues in two days. I hope they are correct. I usually stay put together when it comes to her, but once or twice a year I have "a night". I know I shouldn't have put this out there for you guys, but I did. Lately I've had zero tolerance for anyone's BS and two things have been going through my mind. One was that someone told me this was my fault because I didn't pay and I was getting pushed because of it. I did not hurt the guy and I regret that. Just being honest. The other was something her bio dad said to me. We met him in court. He was in shackles, handcuffs, and a tether between them. They had him in a wheelchair and he was tied to it with a chain. An officer told me to just look in his direction and the the meeting was over. Two police officers had their hands on either sholder and one officer was between him and us with his hand on his sidearm the entire time. He had already been sentenced to 28 years in prison. He begged me to not tell the kids what he had done. He told me how much he loved the kids and I believe him. He thanked us several times for adopting his children. He also asked that we tell him when my little girl dies. He's a huge POS an yet he's the only one in their "before life" that gave a ####.
