  1. I've done some bad things with a pvs30. LOL Government approved of course.
  2. Back to Texas in the morning for hogs a coyotes. Well hogs, but if we see a coyote it's toast. Two shooters and three guns. 338 federal, 308, and 300 blackout. Going to be muddy.
  3. I run a xdm because of the grip angle. I'm just too lazy to retrain my muscle memory.
  4. BTW and new thermal you pick up will look horrible with the default settings. They really need to be tuned to you and the conditions. That's where time with the units come in.
  5. https://ultimatenightvision.com/rentals/
  6. You can rent thermals and night vision equipment from at least one online supplier. It's not cheap, but you'll know if you're going to like the scope. You can get it for the weekend and not just the 5 minutes in the store.
  7. I've got to be in Texas this weekend, but Christmas weekend we are going to one farm. The next weekend we are heading to a second farm. I've got to get the license, boundaries, and structure stuff done. One land owner wants to be involved. That's understandable and a lot more work, but it is kinda fun. We put them on bolt guns with thermals. I really want a thermal drone, but....$$$$$$
  8. Kentucky is blowing me up right now sinse they passed night hunting for coyotes. I'm never gonna sleep again. LOL
  9. I don't have much experience with the lower end stuff. I've spent 100s of hours behind NV and thermal. I currently run an N-vision NOX on a 308 mostly. If I'm in an area with a higher human density, I'll sometimes drop back to a 5.56. If you've never hunted at night there are a few things to consider. Animals behave quite a bit different at night in regard to humans. You're tactics for day hunting can be used at night, but a coyote may not run away just because it sees you. Quite often it will come in to investigate you. I will circle down wind. I've watched one Stay within 30 yards of my partner and keeping pace the entire time. They can see the red glow from the ir light if it's in the 850 nm range. If it's never been hunted, it's probably not an issue. Some dogs look just like coyotes in a thermal. I always ask the coyote if it's a dog if I'm in an area with dogs. If I have any doubt, I'll literally say " hay dog ". If it's a dog, it will go nuts and start barking. A coyote will never make a sound, but it will watch you intently. In Tennessee you can "hunt" coyotes at night....yet. You do have every right to protect yourself, your animals, and your property from coyotes if they are attacking. If I was hunting in Texas, South Carolina, ect.. this is what I'd do. 1: get a game camera and find out when it's coming it. 2: make sure it has a reason to be in front of the camera 3: be ready at the time the camera indicates activity. A 2nd opinion would be a game call. I've used electronics, mouth calls, and my voice. I called a coyote just to get it's attention while my partner got into position. His shooting vector was too close in line with a structure. Afterwards I turned around just to have one 20 yards behind me sneaking up on me. A 3rd option would be to find some good trappers in the area. I don't trap, but it could be an issue with your dogs. Good luck.
  10. Nightvision vs thermal. Do you have any experience with either? What do you prefer and do you have experience shooting at night? What is your budget?
  11. I've been there many times. You should try this. https://www.towerdelimarket.com/ Or this. https://www.51stdeli.com/
  12. Krampus came to the house this year. This is a still shot from a video my 18 year old took. Krampus was in my son's room and left him a message.
  13. We've always had Santa and Krampus.
  14. You should have met Bill Dorris. You're post describes him perfectly.
  15. I know where there are 5 new in the box. He'll want cash though.
  16. I'll be honest, I've never seen a wild pig in the daylight. I've killed hundreds at night, but I'm shooting at thermal images on a screen. To see one walk in under my deer stand would be outstanding. Congratulations.
  17. Things like that are funny. You never know how you or someone else will react in a situation like that. I wouldn't hold it against her at the moment. I've watched some people die in spectacular fashion and most of the people around me were men. They all reacted from the indifferent to just turning their hands.
  18. I say Mom is in pretty good shape now. She got half the money and now her son gets the other half plus she gets rid of two hot heads.
  19. So, what happened to the Glock? LOL
  20. That's not a racist remark, it's a slight against the media and their proclivity to push a narrative. All white people are all evil racist. Anything bad a person of color does is because of the evil white man. Anything good a person of color does is in spite of the evil white man. That is in fact racist to all parties involved. We are all capable of evil. It shouldn't be sugar coated or covered differently just because of one's race. Kyle was called a white supremacist by the government and media all the way up to the president without a shred of evidence. If you even hint that about the Christmas parade driver, you'll be labeled a white supremacist even if you're black.
  21. I adopted 3 from foster care. It's a hell of a thing. People think they know, but they don't.
  22. Epic.
  23. It's a good thing a kid with an ar15 didn't shoot him before he hit all those people.
  24. My favorite 22 was discontinued so I was forced to find something else. The return of 22 let me try a few and I'm happy with the results. 50 yards.
