Interviews today through Thursday, so hopefully we get 5 more good guys. This will help some, but not my position. They did give me the ability to do most of my work from anywhere in the world internet is available. I'm not sure that's a good thing. LOL. We do have a guy that i work with that moved to New Zealand. I have found myself interacting with my family through the security cameras at the house a bit more.

I managed to work 175 hours in overtime in March. I'll get about 70 in April because I took a week of vacation. I've watched 21-25 year old kids quit after a month in other departments because they "worked so much". The guys were making really good money. I just don't get it.

He could have had people with him. Loading 40 guns in the back of a truck/van in 2 or 3 minutes wouldn’t be hard. He wouldn’t be treating them like prized possessions. Grab a handful and chunk them in. Repeat that a few times and done. The place is relatively protected from eyes. One guy could do it in 5 minutes. 5 minutes is a lifetime in a robbery and the guy wouldn’t have been able to hesitate. Who knows his true motivation. I hope they catch everyone involved. I also hope they resist. Just saying it could have been one guy.

The act itself wouldn't be that hard. Especially if they were unsuspecting victims. Throw in a bit of meth and you have a disastrous robbery. He would have lost his ability to unload the guns locally and I doubt he has connections to Mexico. He was done the moment he pulled the trigger.

My go to ar 15 is an 18". It's relatively easy to keep rounds on a human silhouette at 750-850. After that things get bad. I hold a 10" group at 750 with that gun if I want to be honest. At 1000, it twice that. If it's just a range toy without a suppressor, I'd do a 24. A 20" will get it done if you math the s÷$t out of the bullet. An 18" will if you get lucky. My 18" is really only for killing, so take it for what it is, but I did quite a bit of long range testing before it was relegated to this role. Fast twist, heavy for caliber, and big BC numbers are what you're after.

When I travel with a sbr, I'll fill out an ATF Form 5320.20. It's good for up to a year and I usually stay in the same motel. They are accustomed to us walking through the lobby with machineguns, ARs, and 50/75 lbs of ammo each. It takes about a month to get back and is pretty much a rubber stamp. I have yet to hear of anyone that has ever gotten into trouble for not doing this though. The second thing is to have copies of your form 4 or 1. A pic on your phone is good. I have never been asked for them. Not once in 25 years. You are only required to produce them for an atf officer, but I wouldn't refuse a police officer. They can hold you until the atf shows up. " In a few days". If you forget them, they can look them up pretty fast. I've had several encounters with different agencies over the years and I've never so much as had to produce a driver's license. Every cop I've ever dealt with has been great. I have yet to get one to put me in handcuffs so my buddy can get a pic. They're a bit weird about that.

Just typed what the Wife and I have had to do to keep our kids safe and it read like a Tom Clancy novel. I will just say this, I use social media to keep my kids safe. It's been a wonderful tool for tracking people. The thing that scares me is that 14 years from now a man will get out of prison and my kids will be adults by then..

Well..some of it is government and some of it isn't. The "isn't" doesn't cost you anything, but has government oversight. The part that's government, gets funded with money from hunting licenses. I'm sure there are some differences from state to state. The whole deer birth control debacle comes to mind.

I set up a V7 for a guy in the same cal. 308 upper with a thermal for night and a 6.5 CM with a day scope for everything else. It's a solid choice.

Rereading this and I know it sounds strange. I hunt with one of two guys at night in multiple states. The three of us never hunt together though. We will take guys with us from time to time. While we run like clockwork, the people we take are not as "fast" or proficient. Targets are based on shooter positions and how the targets are arranged. I tend to be the driver and run the targets into the other shooters. All of this is unspoken rule normally. The only thing that is ever said is "3 2 1". I need to be able to reliably talk to the guy that don't normally do this kind of thing. They need to hear the count down and more importantly everyone needs to hear anyone say hold. All of this is 100% legal and the police or game wardens are welcome to listen.

Ideally it would be a bluetooth type network between 3 to 4 headsets. There are some out there that encrypt your communications and have considerable range, but I don't need that. 100 yards is more than enough. I'm the one doing most of the talking so hands free would be a bonus. I'll be running a rifle while I'm giving instructions and calling out targets.
