  1. So I got a chance to kill a hog with a knife this hunt. Is was not my intention, but it happened. Never ever go into a thickit looking for a wounded hog. LOL.
  2. 45 total for two nights. 44 with rifles and one knife fight with a wounded pissed off 190-210 pig. This was just the recovered pigs.
  3. Correction They found 2 more pigs this morning. That makes 30. 3 shooters tonight.
  4. Funny thing. They are dove hunting this weekend in one of the fields we killed pigs. We had to get them out of the field because they didn't want buzzards messing up the hunt. He said the game wardens always show up to the hunt as sit in the same spot to "observe". If the see any violations, they'll write tickets. Guess where we put 8 200 lb pigs......
  5. I got one just past 400 yards last night. Right at the edge of the bullet expansion threshold. It doesn't sound like a long way, but for night hunting it's a pretty good clip.
  6. 28 for the night
  7. 8 down first set.
  8. Form 1 for the gun Form 4 for the suppressor if you're getting one and not building one. You can do it as an individual also.
  9. https://www.highplainshunts.com/ Did you hunt with these guys?
  10. We will walk up to 800ish yards for each stalk. 6 to 10 a night with 20 lbs of guns and gear......in the dark....without lights. Elk hunters point and laugh at me, but it kicks my butt. I've never tried hunting with dogs and a knife. I've had to kill a few with a knife, but it wasn't planned. LOL
  11. Snake boots every time for me. I've hunted that area around Turkey Texas.
  12. Heading out Wednesday for a Wednesday night Thursday night hunt. I'll be back Friday. 4 shooters and lots of moon. LOL. Going to run the old Savage AR10 with the 3rd barrel, N-vision xrf, and Q suppessor. Backup gun is a Seekins precision with an 18" green mountain barrel, Thunderbeast, and N-vision NOX in 5.56. Stopping by Evolve Weapon Systems for a few things. Check out his stuff if you get a chance. Probably the best AR 15 handguard I've ever played with. https://evolveweaponssystems.com/
  13. Name me some people in history that did kill other people for something they wanted. They'd have to be very isolated and if that was the case then they killed each other. Doesn't justify it for anyone else, it's just the way it is. Looking at the totality of a person's life or a country and saying they were good as a whole is fine. The guy you punched in the nose when you were 12 is still pissed at you.
  14. We have family in Australia. They vote every so often to separate themselves from England. Every year there are more people who support separation. The last time we talked about it Australia was at about 50/50. That was a few years ago. I do take great delight in watching them get into the wrong side of the car at least once every time they come to the US. They are very liberal. Kind of odd because Australia is socially set in the US 50s. The south is more open to "new" ideas. Women are expected to stay home kind of thing. Australians are quick to judge the US for civil rights and even quicker to forget the "Lost generation" of Aborigines.
  15. Not necessarily
  16. Unfortunately I think it's the only thing that will fix the problem. People will see it as the easiest option until they don't. They will then try the hard options, but lives will be lost and everyone will ask why we didn't do that from the start. The answer will be that we are all lazy and afraid.
  17. The minimum I will drive is 100 miles a day and I've got 300k + out of 2 Fords. Dropped a valve in a Chevy in under 125k. Lots of Chevy engine replacement. We've had other guys have Ford rear ends go out in 30k. That's the biggest thing from Ford. We do tend to have 13k lb trucks that shouldn't be over 10k though. I've also had a Asto van, s10 blazer, and currently a Ford explorer (lost the transmission at 123k) . We starting using Toyota 4runners a few years ago. We will see how that goes.
  18. The first thing is heavy round nose flat base holow points in the 112 gr range. I actually have some on the way for a guy now. You're not going to use 300 blackout powders. What you use is very dependent on the gun setup if you want a unmodified barrel and we really don't want to open up the gas port. We want to keep the gun normal for supersonic rounds. You need to tune the peak pressure to the gas port position. A suppressor is a must. One with back pressure helps.

  20. I have always thought it was a good idea to reduce welfare for the people that can work, but choose not to. It would need to be done over a period of time. With the money saved, open trade schools in the area and teach anything from welding to computer science. Hopefully you could get volunteers from the area to help out. It would be much easier in the inner cities. I'm not sure how it would go in the rural areas of the US. That's were the vast majority of welfare recipients live. Travel could be an issue. A buddy worked with Minddrive. He wouldn’t take at risk kids. He wanted gang bangers. They would build electric race cars and race them. He said the transformation was amazing when they accomplished goals. He always said there were a lot of really smart kids that felt like they had no choice but crime. Giving them a choice is a good first step. I also have zero issues hammering someone for violent crime. I also think there's a better way to "correct" nonviolent crimes than putting someone in jail for 1-8 years and destroying their lives. Once they are out, they become a burden on society because we refuse to allow them to participate.
  21. I wonder if anyone was disinvited from the funeral.
  22. 1st of all, they exist. Do you load your own? What are the specs on the gun? Are you willing to load duplex loads? It's much easier with a suppressed sbr, but double with a 16". You'll need to experiment a bit, but they are 112 gr expanders. 1 in 7 or faster twist.
  23. Well.......if you ever studied serial killers, you'll find out they sometimes rape victims up to days after they kill them. A few minutes is no big deal. She may have not been raped, but it's the assumption everyone is putting out there. He may have just wanted to kill her for whatever reason.
  24. It's perfectly acceptable for you to put the 18" on it. Take pictures of your forms and keep them in a file called nfa and you'll never worry about having your paperwork.
