  1. HK will install them for $45.  just send them your slide.   Also, there is an HK armorer on the HKPro forum that will install them for $25 shipped, with a 1 day turnaround.   His website is http://www.teufelshundtactical.com/
  2. I used a Dillon Square Deal B for about 3 years.  You can get a used one set up for one caliber for around $300.  I cranked out a lot of ammo with that little press.  Down side is that it uses special dies and can only load pistol ammo.    I recently bought a Hornady LNL AP when Cabela's had them on sale w/free shipping.  I paid for it with discounted gift cards, so I wound up getting it pretty cheap.  Dillon stuff, on the other hand, never seems to go on sale.  The LNL has some things that I like better than the Dillon 650, such as the powder measure and die bushings.  It has been a little quirky, though, and I'm still learning how to get it to run smoothly through an entire batch of ammo.  Hornady's warranty has also been great.  I've already broken a couple small parts (my fault), and Hornady, like Dillon, has promptly sent parts free of charge.    The 550 and the LNL are not that comparable; the 550 does not auto-index and only has 4 die stations.  It would be better to compare the LNL to the 650.  Although the 650 costs more, you need to factor in the cost of a case feeder (you said that you do not want to put brass in by hand).  Hornady's case feeder is more expensive than Dillon's, so that almost evens out the price difference between the LNL and the 650.  I don't think you can wrong either way. Don't get too caught up on price; remember that this will be something that you can use for a lifetime.
  3. Dvor had the tlr-6 for $80 for awhile. Not sure if that deal is still going. Lasers are great on small guns like the g43, but I would much rather have a pressure switch, like on a crimson trace, than a push button like the tlr-6. Also, there's nothing wrong with having night sights AND a light/laser. For me, getting rid of the plastic sights that come with the gun would be priority #1. If you want a cheaper option, Glock will put factory night sights on your slide for $57.
  4. It's not totally unreasonable, but there will be some potential buyers who will not want to do it simply because it isn't required.  You could require that your buyer have a Tennessee handgun carry permit.  That would at least let you know that they at some point passed a background check.
  5.   I really like RMR's plated bullets. That's what I've been using for 9mm and .38 for the past two years.   Precision Delta is a good source for jacketed bullets.
  6. Check out the Stoeger M3020. Lots of guys are using the M3000, including myself, for 3 gun. It is a very reliable auto loader.
  7. I have an 870 Youth 20 gauge that I got when I was 10. I put a mag extension on it and used it in 3-gun for a year. It looks like a toy compared to a full size 12 gauge, but it would make a dandy home defense gun.
  8. David had a bunch of 231 at the gun show last weekend.
  9. I have been sans-cable since the first of the year.  It was an adjustment at first, but it didn't take long before I didn't miss it at all.  Between Netflix, Hulu, and a digital antenna, there's plenty of content to watch.  I spend less time in front of the idiot box now, which I guess is a good thing, too.     I will probably cave in and at least get SlingTV for football season, though.  Sports are the last hope for cable.       I don't have any experience with an OTA DVR.

    WTB: Handgun

There's some USP .40 trade-ins on Gun Broker right now for $350.  Some even have night sights.  That's what I would get.   :2cents:   http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=500741647
  11. I think that's good advice.  As nice as these CZ's look, and as much as I try to convince myself that it's the more practical choice,  a big 9mm 2011 is what I'm really lusting after.     To those that have STI 2011's, are they pretty reliable?  I have come to realize that I just don't have the time or patience to tinker.  I just like for my stuff to work.     And thanks for the heads up, Hozzie.  I think I need to hold out for a double stack, though.     I appreciate all the input.
  12. So I want to get a dedicated gamer gun, mostly for 3-gun.  The two I'm considering are (both in 9mm):  1.) STI Edge and 2.) CZ Custom SP01 Shadow.     The STI is what really turns me on, but it is more expensive, both in the cost of the gun and mags.  The CZ is still sexy, and, from what I gather, may be a less finicky gun.  The CZ is $1,300, and mags are $35.  A new Edge is $2,000, but I'd probably be looking for a gently used one in the $1,600 - $1,700 range.  Mags are $65, but mostly people seem to wind up spending in the neighborhood of $100/mag after upgrading base plates, followers, and springs.     I have fondled an STI and a stock CZ75, but never a CZ Custom shop gun.  Does anyone have input on these guns? Is the STI that much better, or is the CZ the way to go?  Is CZ Custom's work worth $400 over the price of a factory SP01 Shadow?   thanks!

    Ruger 22/45

I really like my Lite.  I put a Volqartsen sear, mkii hammer bushing, and a dawson fiber optic front sight on it, and it has been good to go!  Mine is very reliable, very accurate, and I've had zero problems with leading.  I haven't even had any problems taking it apart.
  14. USAA is one of the better insurance companies to deal with.     I hope you're ok and glad you have UM coverage.  It's at least as important as liability coverage.

    HK VP40

That's a good point. VP9 Expert, maybe? One can dream...
  16. Classy.     it drives me nuts when people record video in portrait mode...

    HK VP40

I'm in for a VP9L if/when it comes out.   For anyone who likes .40 and HK, there are some USP .40's (probably trade-ins) on Gunbroker right now for $350.  I don't need or want a .40, but that's almost too cheap to pass up.
  18. I'd just ask S&W to send you a new take down lever so you don't have to worry about them uninstalling your APEX parts.
  19. a local shop had some a few days ago for $599, and it wasn't even Gander Mountain!
  20. If I came across a shotgun press for cheap at a yard sale or pawn shop, I'd buy it just so I could make some dummy shells.     It's ridiculous that dummy shells cost 3-4 times as much as the real thing.
  21. I'm at about 12.5 cents per rounds using RMR 124gr plated bullets, CCI primers, and Titegroup.  I figure I'm still running about 50-60% of the cost of comparable factory ammo, and I shoot quite a bit of 9mm.  It only takes about 15 minutes to load up 100 rounds, so I'm cool with how the cost savings v. time works out.  The biggest pain right now is finding powder.   I haven't seen factory 9mm ammo for $7 a box in years.  I agree that it would be hard to pass that up.  Then again, avoiding Wal-Mart is also a factor for me.

    Dollywood

We get season passes every other year.  It's nice to be able to go whenever and not feel like you need to stay all day to get your money's worth.  My favorite time to go is after work in the summer when the park is open late.     As has been said, it is a very family friendly park with plenty for little kids to do, but they have also built some really good rides in the past few years.     The last time we went to Disney World, the bowl of mac-n-cheese that my 5 year-old ordered at a princess dinner cost me $30.  The Dollywood food is not so bad compared to that.
  23. If you look at the roof of just about any covered firing line at a public range, you'll see holes made by people who were safely holding their unloaded guns while others checked targets.  I've been downrange more than once when some idiot touched one off.     So, count me in with the crowd that prefers the hands-off rule while the range is cold.
  24.     This hurts my soul.    :stunned:
  25. Looks OK to me, except for the ridges all over the slide. That may not come out of a kydex holster very smoothly. Compatibility with 92 mags would have been a nice selling point. I also don't know why manufacturers don't make more g19 sized guns. I like Beretta, but not as much as HK. I might have looked into one if the VP9 didn't exist.
