MBITR's are great unless it's cloudy, or you have any kind of overhead cover. Then they are just an expensive paperweight. I used cell phones extensively during my last deployment. I would be surprised if you don't as well.

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. I just got a bit of good news. The family members I had that were still visiting in the hospital when the tornado hit made it out safe. On the bad side, there are over 100 confirmed fatalities in the temporary morgue already. From what I have heard the damage to the hospital is so extensive they haven't even started removing the bodies yet. There are unconfirmed reports of over 200 fatalities in the hospital alone.

I am currently in the Joplin area to visit my grandmother who was in the hospital. Her hospital took a direct hit, she didn't make it. The only comfort we have is that she was close to death and had accepted it. I went out with my leo brother in law to help with the search and rescue and I have never seen devastation like this. There are places where it's just rubble for as far as you can see. Entire neighborhoods have been completely destroyed. It will be a miracle if the body count is less then 100, I would guess it will easily be 200+ Please pray for the people of Joplin, they certainly need it.

I dropped by today since I was in the area. I got greeted the moment I walked in the door. While they didn't have the accessory I was looking for they did offer to order it for me. Not a bad selection for the size of store, and the prices seemed about on par. And they also have a very friendly shop-dog, that's always a plus.

I have offered to transport things for members a couple of times when I was driving across the state. (Headed from west-middle TN to east TN and back) So far nobody has taken me up on the offer. Maybe I just don't have a trustworthy face.

I used to run one. I didn't see any hp gains and had problems with my MAF so i went back to the stock paper filter. I won't run one again. YMMV *Ran it in my truck, not turbo or diesel.

I was listening on my scanner app and it sounds like Cleveland got hit hard. someone on the scanner said they found a truck in what used to be someones basement, I'm assuming the house itself was gone. All you guys over in east TN be careful.

I have been using my Kelty 3500 for about five years now. I mostly use it for day to day work stuff like hauling gloves, cold and wet whether clothing as well as tools, food and generally anything that will fit inside it. It has been tossed around and generally abused and has held up amazingly. I even lived out of it for a month while deployed. (I wouldn't recommend that though) Mine was a gift but I would not hesitate to buy one if I ever needed another one. One thing, do not use it as a ruck sack. It doesn't have a frame and it will put a hurting on you, I learned that the hard way when I used it on a 12 mile ruck march.

All the AT&T hate makes me laugh. I have traveled all over the country and my phone has always gotten better reception then my coworkers with verizon. And that's in urban and rural areas. I used to have version, had nothing but problems with them. I dumped them and went to Cingular, now AT&T and have never had a single issue since. I can't wait 'till AT&T buys T-mobile and really puts a hurting on verizon. Verizon had the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with and they can rot in hell for all I care.
