I am going on a sandhill crane hunt in a couple of months. This will be my first time shooting steel shot. Does anybody have any experience with steel shot chokes and if so what brands do you like?

I must disagree. Martin's white sauce is awesome on chicken, smoked turkey and their smoked wings. INGREDIENTS 4 cups mayonnaise 2½ cups cider vinegar 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp. minced garlic 2 tbsp. kosher salt (heaping) 2 tbsp. black pepper (heaping) 1½ tsp. cayenne pepper

I have been hearing some decent reports on numbers of birds killed. I am guessing not a lot people went.

Here is my report. I suck at shooting doves. They were flying really good this afternoon. One side of our field sounded like a war zone. I was on the slow side of the field but still had plenty of opportunities. at least my nephew limited out.

So when are we going hunting. Awesome buck. Hope you get him.

Publix sells dry ice. Put a couple of pieces of dry ice in the bottom of the cooler and then the regular ice on top. Makes a huge difference in how long the ice lasts.

Who all is going to archery hunt next weekend during the 3 day velvet hunt? Right now it looks like it will be a little cooler but rainy. Of course the forecast will probably change seven times between now and then. I will be up in a tree at least one of the days. Remember it is private land only and antlered deer only. Friday the 23rd through Sunday the 25th.

Were there any metal detectors or were they wanding people?

Thanks. I do as well. The blueing and ccc are really nice. I really like the shorter barrels also.

Cowboy guns are just one of the things I think are cool. It is hard to find a good deal on Colts nowadays. I would love to find a 5.5" or 4.75" Colt SAA but those carry a premium over the 7.5" barrels. Uberti does make some really nice guns and they are a lot more reasonable.

That is a good looking knife.
