I am heading out on a Elk hunt in two weeks with Black Mountain Outfitters. I will let you know how they are when I get back.

Actually it is right at 100 days if you count all seasons including the private land hunt Jan 4-8. You can shoot 3 does a day but nobody is doing that. Unit L is extremely overpopulated with deer. The main problem is most of the areas where the deer are overpopulated you can not hunt or there is very little opportunity to hunt. They could increase the limit to 500 does and it would not make much difference. As middle TN grows in population there is less and less areas you can hunt.

Had one doe feeding as she walked along at 3:26. The wind didn’t seem to bother her at all. I was hoping a buck would be following her but no such luck.

I am getting ready to head out and hunt this afternoon. My favorite thing to do on windy days is to still hunt through thickets. The wind really helps conceal your movement and noise.

I will get build up there in my TC Encore but i do not have to "bust" that ring. It has never built up that much. I have figured out that a 28 ga bore snake works in a .50 cal muzzle loader. A good amount of solvent and a couple passes of the bore snake cleans it up for me.

Have one for me. Hopefully I can catch you the next time you are in town.

I think they will get Ken Jennings to replace him. He actually might do a decent job. Nobody can replace Trebek.

My favorite lever gun is my Marlin 1895 in .45-70 with a 16" barrel. A close second is my Marlin 336 in .44 mag
