Shield mags but not the shield mag catch.
-
I was finally able to get some range time this weekend with pistol. I started off with the 9mm barrel to get the Holosun sighted in. This gun is on the heavier side and with the 9mm there was hardly any recoil. It was a pleasure to shoot. The only issue I was having was FTF. I had several in the first two mags I ran. So i decided to switch magazines. That is when I realized I was using the 7.5 magazine and not the 9mm magazine. Once I started to use the correct magazine I had no issues. Got the holosun sighted in and then switched the barrel and spring over to 7.5FK. I now see why the gun has some weight to it. The 7.5 round is stout. Not as bad as 44 mag but close. Even so the ergonomics of this gun made it very easy to control. Had tp adjust the zero a little on the holosun and then moved the target out to 15 yards. Unfortunately that was the furthest I could shoot yesterday. Here is my first 10 rounds I shot offhand at 15 yards. 8 out of 10 rounds in the 10 ring. Not to bad for these old eyes. I now need to get it outside and shoot some steel plates at 50, 75 and 100 yards to see what it can really do.

So I finally had some time to go to the range this weekend. I needed to sight in the Holosun on my G48. This is the first time I have shot this gun since I bought it. Right off the bat I started having extraction problems. I would have 3-5 failure to extract per magazine. Only had one brand of 9mm with me but did try several different magazines but nothing helped. I was able to shoot it enough to get the Holosun zeroed. Now I just have to figure out the extraction issue before I carry it. So I get home and take slide off. I start inspecting the extractor to see if it is chipped or broken. As I am rubbing it with my finger I notice it is loose. I can move it. Stripped my other G48 to compare it to and as expected the extractor is nice and tight. So time to completely disassemble the slide. Pull the back plate off and take out the firing pin. Start to pull the extractor rod out but it will not come out. The spring pulls off the end of the rod and just the nipple the spring attaches to is sticking out of the channel. Gently grip it with needle nose pliers but it will not come out. As I am sitting there staring at it I realize that the right screw for the Holosun is directly over this channel. I back the screw out a couple of turns and the rods falls right out like it is supposed to. So it looks like the screw was not allowing the extractor to move freely. I checked and I did not have any shorter screws. So I got my dremel out and very carefully started grinding down the screw. Now the screw is in nice and tight and does not effect the movement of the extractor. Hopefully this fixes my problem. Now I just have to get back to the range and shoot it some more.

It is kinda fugly.

Refinishing it will hurt the value and collectibility of it. I vote do not refinish it.

Anybody know what this is or what furniture was used? A buddy saw it on Pinterest and was wondering what it is.

You can dish it out but can’t take it. Not really surprising.

What Fuji said. Don’t let the word Safari confuse you. Most of the work SCI does to protect hunting rights is based in the US. -

Well thanks to @TGO David I put a Holosun on my PSD. Now I have to find time to get to the range and have some fun.

I always get tired of my toys and start looking for new ones...

You do not run across these very often. Supposedly less than 400 were imported from ‘66-‘74. This was the semi auto version of the G3 battle rifle and the predecessor of the H&K 91. Unfortunately it did not come with a magazine. 91 mags do work in it and I have ordered a couple.

Sorry to hear that Mac

Like Darrell said, this is the law not an Ebay problem. All online retailers will start doing this, even Gunbroker.

I got the SP5 for a couple of reasons. One I think it looks better than the K. Second the K is about 4 inches shorter and does not feel as good in my hands. For me the left hand position is more comfortable on the 5 than the 5K

I are there a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it.

Those look really good. The set on the left I thinks looks good as is. The set on the right is kinda dark. A colored resin would lighten them up and probably look pretty damn cool.

Last I heard he was done in Texas working for a 1911 company that I forget the name of.

So I switched to a Glock 48 a while ago. I like the slim frame and with the Shield Arms mags you can carry 15+1. Another TGO member had a G48 MOS for sale and I ended up doing a trade with him. I just picked up a Holosun 407 and got it mounted. With the 407 mounted it would almost fit but not quite my current IWB kydex holster. Got the dremel out and did a little work to the kydex and now my holster hold both of my G48's. I need to get some range time shooting with the holosun. Once I get accustomed to shooting with the rds it will become my new carry gun.

That is an interesting chart Rizzo. I never considered comparing it to the 5.7 because I am looking at it to hunt with. It shoots as flat as the the 40gr 5.7 round even though it weighs 2.5x more. Bob, I know it is used some as an urban defense weapon but the round is getting the most traction as a hunting round. There are some great hunting video on FK's site. Here is a good video with Rob Pincus

This is true. Once you had bought from them you could get “normal” prices and good deals from Brian. I bought a lot from him in the early days. Not so much once he moved into the old Uncle Buds location.
