I own only 1 1911 so I don't have a lot of experience with them. I got a Kimber Custom Target II for 799 and have been very pleased with it. i have had no malfunctions and it is very accurate. I have even taken mine deer hunting and killed a nice fat doe with it.

I started out carring the Kahr P9, then switched to the PM9 and now carry the P45. All three Kahrs have been excellant carry guns and been very reliable.

I'll start. It still pains me to this day when I think about this. I had a Colt 1911 manufactured in 1914. Had the leather holster with the big flap that was stamped Rock Island Arsenal 1914. The gun was all original with three mags and in about 98% condition. A friend of my uncles dad died and he found this when cleaning out his dads safe. It made its way to me and I said sure I will take it. I was a lot younger back then and didn't realize what I had. I ended up trading it for some hunting gear and a rifle. Somebody got a real good deal at my expense. Man, I wish I had that 1911 back!

Thanks for all the replys. I usually go with variables in the 3x9 range on my hunting rifles but wasn't sure about my AR since this is my first one. Mugster - I think a 2x7 might be the way go. The 2x ahould give me plenty field of view for up close target work and 7x is plenty for most of the shots around here on deer. Thanks everyone.

I have a Bushmaster BAR 308. Right now the kids and I just use for plinking and having fun. I would also like to use it for deer hunting. Not sure if I should go with a low power fixed scope or a no power holosight type of sight. Anybody else use there AR for hunting? Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated.

I have a Marlin 1895 that has had a little work done to it. The barrel has been cut down to 18" and recrowned. Complete action and trigger job so it is silky smooth. Has a Leupold 2x scope with quick detach rings. It is a sweet shooting little thumper in 45-70.

Getting to know each other: What do you look like?

Here is a pic of my daughter and myself with her first deer she got last year. -
David, If you are going to be shooting all 3 sports(clay, skeet & trap) i think the 30" barrel is the way to go. If it was just going to be a skeet gun I would get a 28" barrel. If just a trap gun I would go with 32" barrel. So 30" is a good compromise. You shots in trap can be quite a bit farther than skeet. Good luck on which ever you go with. Skeet, trap and clays are addictive. You are going to have a lot of fun. Bill, Jr

for my TC Icon in the new 30 TC cartridge! I put my deposit down as soon as they were announced. I am a big fan of T/C . I think the Icon is one of the best looking rifles I have seen in a long time.(that didn't cost over 2k) At least they are shipping the 308 Icons and the 30 TC is supposed to be next. Hopefully I will not have to wait to much longer. I can't wait to fondle mine:D( the Icon that is...)

My 13yo daughter really wants me to take her bear hunting this year. We would like to do a "diy" hunt instead of a guided hunt. Can anybody point me in the right direction as where to get some good information? Need info like where to go, when to go, spot and stalk or baiting etc... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bill, Jr

Ckeck out Vizio. You can get them at Sams and Costco. Great deal for the money and excellant picture quality. There 47" lcd is 1499 and the 42" lcd is 1199. http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11195976&search=lcd&Mo=57&cm_re=1_en-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_search〈=en-US&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Sp=S&N=0&whse=BC&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=Text_Search&Dr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ne=4000000&D=lcd&Ntt=lcd&No=11&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1 http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11225206&search=lcd&Mo=57&cm_re=1_en-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_search〈=en-US&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Sp=S&N=0&whse=BC&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=Text_Search&Dr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ne=4000000&D=lcd&Ntt=lcd&No=6&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1

My vote is for the RUGER MKII. I have two barrels for mine. 1) the "slab side" or competition barrel - very accurate and 2) Pac-lite threaded barrel with a supressor. Both barrels shoot great. Its a really fun gun. Haven't tried any of the others mentioned but I love my Ruger.

Marswolf, havn't shot it for groups yet. Mainly it has been my 13yo daughter and 12yo son just having fun shooting it. We have one of the sniper training cubes from Ballistic Technologies. It is a 4" square cube of polymer that you throw on the ground and shoot. Every time you hit it, it flips and spins and it moves. You reacquire and shoot again. It is a lot of fun. We have had no problems hitting that with open sites at 30-50 yds. Once I put it on the bench I will let you know what kind of groups I am getting.

HA! HA! HA! HA! I love it....

I have the Bushmaster BAR 308 A2. This was my first AR and I love it. It is a blast to shoot. Haven't had any trouble out of it but I have only put a couple hundred rounds thru it. Good luck.
