  1. Congrats!! That is awesome!
  2. Yeah but Lincoln Navigators can't see them very well....
  3. That was pretty funny. He does do good work.
  4. I make jerky using ground venison and The Jerky Shooter. I really like the Backwoods seasonings from LEM. I like the original best. Here is a link to all of there flavors: Jerky Seasonings
  5. Here is a recipe the kids and I really like. Carne Asada Venison Take a 16oz jar of your favorite salsa. 1/2 cup of Brown sugar 1/2 cup of lime juice 1 packet of onion soup mix Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend till it isn't chunky. Use half to marinade the venison and reserve the rest. The longer it marinates the more tender it will be. I usually let it marinate for 24 hours. Two ways to cook: 1) If you grill, grill the meat to medium rare. While the meat is grilling, heat the remaining sauce in a pot. Spoon the warm sauce over the meat when you serve it. 2) Pan fry. Heat a pan over high heat and brown both sides of the venison. Now add the reserved marinade and let the meat simmer until medium rare to medium.
  6. I use regular doe pee as a cover scent. I either just spray it on my boots or tuck cotton ball between my boot laces and spray the cotton ball. I sometimes hand a wick and spray doe in estrus on it.
  7. I don't really have a recipe. I just throw stuff in the pot till I am happy. One tip though. Since venison is so lean, add some ground pork in a 4 to 1 ratio. I usually ad 1/2 lb ground pork per 2lbs venison.
  8. Holy Crap. I think I would have crapped my pants had I been in his position...
  9. For this neck of the woods either the 270 or 30-06. Both are great calibers. I love the 243 but feel it is to small for elk. You can kill an elk with one but there is no room for error on the shot. If you are wanting to shoot coyotes to elk with the same rifle, my vote is for the 270. One other option is to get a TC Encore and a couple of different barrels.
  10. Got my free Spicy Chicken biscuit this morning.
  11. You need one of those rocket propelled nets they use to catch birds. How fun would that be to lure them in and shoot a net over the top of them. Something like this but on a larger scale.
  12. I laughed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4tEgZnmfzk
  13. I know what you mean. A couple of years ago I went back to a simplified approach. All I carry I a bottle of doe pee for cover scent and a grunt tube. All the gadgets are cool and if you want to carry them, more power to you. I just got tired of carrying all the extra weight.
  14. This looks like it is going to be a great season.... My wife was like OMG Jax cut his hair...I like it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1eib_lJ1h8
  15. Shot with a Canon 30D down in Destin 2 years ago. Don't remember what lens I was using.
  16. I understand what you are saying. I am not worrying about the population getting decimated. I am more worried about deer patterns getting changed. A lot of hard work goes in to attracting and holding deer on your property. If the deer are constantly being harassed by neighbors dogs, they are going to change their patterns. That is what really bothers me.
  17. Love the flattops. Great looking gun.
  18. Really? I am going to assume you do not hunt a lot. A lot of hard work goes into getting your area ready to hunt. Months of hard work can be ruined by a thoughtless neighbor letting his dogs run wild. It can make a hunter pretty mad when he or she sees his hard earned money and work go out the window because of dogs running through the area. I do not blame the dog. They are doing what dogs do. I do blame the people who do not keep control of their dogs. People seem to forget that their actions effect more than just themselves.
  19. We all know it happens. Probably all of us have had to deal with dogs running through our hunting area. This is the first time I have actually seen proof of a pet dog taking down a deer. It is obvious it is a pet because you can see its collar in the pics. Wild, feral dogs are one thing. I am not sure how I would handle a neighbors pet if I caught it doing this. 20. That's good advice. I usually look for meat for the freezer first.

    That is really sweet looking.
  22. Looks like an interesting site. I will have to dig around in it some. Thanks
