    GOT a new JOB

Congrats of the new job. Now, just don't ride on the road and hold up traffic... I loved my Raleigh Grifter I got about 1980 across the street at Cumberland Transit.
  3. That is the XS Lever Scout Mount. It is about half way down on this page: http://xssights.com/index.php?nID=scopemounts&cID=Scope%20Mounts&pID=scopemounts The scope is a Leupold 2x. I forgot what model it is. It will check and report back. I really like this set up. It is very quick for target acquisition.
  4. If you need to stay around 300, then look at a 30-30. My vote is for the 45-70. That is what I have. Not sure if you can get a 45-70 for that price.
  5. Got this email today. Not sure if it is old or new. IT says they are voting on the bill this Tuesday. WD, do yo know if this is accurate or not? From: Chris Anderson [mailto:chris@cpanderson.com] Sent: Thursday, February 09, 2012 2:11 PM To: Chris Anderson Subject: URGENT! Deer Farming Alert Dear Tennessee Deer Hunters: You may recall that a bill to allow commercial farming of whitetail deer was introduced by Rep. Frank Niceley last year. Due to broad-based opposition from concerned sportsmen and the diligent efforts of the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, we were able to gain enough support amongst the Conservation and Environment Subcommittee members to force Rep Niceley to withdraw his bill during the last legislative session. Unfortunately, the bill is back in a new and even more sinister form. Rep. Niceley has filed a new deer farming bill (HB3164) to the FULL House Agriculture Committee (which he chairs), apparently bypassing the General Subcommittee of Agriculture and completely avoiding the House Conservation and Environment Committee. This new bill is attached; it is much more broadly written than last year’s, and appears to propose the complete privatization of a public resource (certain native species, based on the department of agriculture’s rules, according to the bill). Rep Niceley has repeatedly used underhanded tactics to get this dangerous legislation rammed through committee without debate or opposition. In his latest maneuver, he has scheduled the bill to be voted upon on extremely short notice (next Tuesday) in the committee which he chairs and apparently without any discussion. We need to mount a full-out effort to defeat this bill. If you are unclear on why deer farming in Tennessee is a very bad idea, you can read the background information below. If you already understand the issue and are ready to help take action, please contact the members of the House Agriculture Committee listed below who will vote on the bill next week. Time is of the essence. Please call and email the following Committee members ASAP. Click on each name to go to their house directory page which contains email address and phone numbers. You can copy and paste the attached letter if you would rather not compose one from scratch. Thank you for your support. Niceley’s assault on the TWRA and Tennessee Sportsmen Information on problems associated with deer farming are located here http://www.tnwf.org/camo-a-casting-coalition/11-section-listing/239-research-on-issues-associated-with-farmed-deer Also of note are two recent stories from Missouri – first, chronic wasting disease was found in a captive facility there, and next, news that they found the disease in the wild herd within two miles of the facility. CWD is 100% fatal to cervids, there is no live test, and hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent across the country trying to eradicate it with little success. http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2011/10/19/deer-with-chronic-wasting-disease-found-in-missouri/#.TyreLWNaZEE.gmail http://www.columbiamissourian.com/stories/2012/01/24/infected-wild-white-tailed-deer-prompt-protocol-contain-chronic-wasting-disease-wild/ Finally, for perspective on Niceley’s assault on sportsmen and the TWRA this session, please see the following link that includes the bills he’s filed… particularly the ones related to wildlife and the wildlife agency/commission. http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/sponsorlist/default.aspx?id=H170&ga=107
  6. Cool. I had never seen one before. I figured someone here had seen one or had one.
  7. Have not taken it apart and given it a good examine yet but as long as the barrel is good it should fire.
  8. Thanks. That is it. After reading some it appears that they made two versions of this rifle. This is the deluxe version. The logo is a cat. I thought it was a llama with a S. Pretty cool reading so far. Looking forward to doing more research on this. Thanks
  9. I had never seen a 22 like this so I had to have it. You pull the plunger back and the top of the receiver lifts up to expose the throat. Almost like the opposite of a falling block. I assume it is German. This is on the barrel: DEUTSCHE WERKE • WERK ERFURI There is a logo on the receiver, stock and buttplate. It say Model 1 under the logo on the receiver. Anybody familiar with this logo? Any info would be appreciated.
  10. But I like the extra room in the handicap stall and what are the odds that Stephen Hawking is gonna need to pinch loaf while I am using the bathroom.....
  11. Probably not. A doc usually will not make a patient go thru the time and expense of a sleep study unless he/she is pretty sure you have sleep apnea. It took a lot of nagging from from my wife before I went to a doc. She kept telling me that I would continuously stop breathing through out the night. Once you start using the cpap machine, it is amazing how much better you feel. Your body is actually able to fall into a deep sleep. Before I started using a cpap, I would sleep 6-8 hours and wake up tired. The apnea does not let your body ever get any rest because it keeps you in a shallow sleep state. This si the mask I use: Works pretty good for me.
  12. Go to the The Coin Purse in Green Hills. I have bought and sold gold coins there in the past. They were good people to deal with but I have not been in there in a couple of years.
  13. I think this is the main reason unmarked cars have so many lights. It lets the person being stopped know that it is the police and not someone posing as the police.
  14. 16 oz jar of salsa - I used hot 2 packets of onion soup mix 1/2 cup of lime juice Use a blender to mix it to a smooth consistency. Use half for marinade and half for cooking.
  15. Took this fat doe on closing weekend last Saturday. Took her home and hung her up in the garage. Then I went to work cutting her up. Marinated the backstraps for three days. Got my grill pan hot and browned both sides in butter. Then I wiped the excess butter out and added my reserve marinade. Simmered the backstraps until just about rare. Sliced it up and put a little of the hot marinade on the slices. Put a nice birds nest next to the slices and had a great meal. For those not from the south, a birds nest is when you put your green peas in the center of your mashed potatoes. Football and a great meal. That is a great Saturday evening.
  16. Nice job! Congrats on two great bucks!
  17. It was about 20lbs. He has not measured it yet. It was in the south western part of Williamson county. I took this bobcat in just outside of Watertown in Wilson county. He was about 30 lbs and 31" from the nose to the base of the tail.
  18. If I am not mistaken, over the air updates only work for updates under 20mbs or 25mbs. If over that amount it says to do it over wifi.
  19. He saw something out in the field behind his house. He got his wife to keep an eye on it while he got his gun and boots. She told him where it went int he woods. He snuck up on a thicket where he thought it would show up. He thought a coyote or gray fox would pop out but it was this bobcat. I am guessing this is what has been getting some of his chickens.
  20. Congrats to your son. That was a great shot. Distance is really hard to judge from pics.
  21. This is pretty funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrfk-F1TPD8

    opinion on a 44mag

    This is good advice.
  23. This is sipping and enjoying bourbon, not getting drunk bourbon. If I want to get lit I will stick with Jim Bean and diet coke. The store is at the intersection of Hwy 70 and Old Hickory Blvd right behind the Exxon. It is in the old Rite Aid drug store location.
