Update. I gave the slide and frame another good scrubbing after letting them soak in Kroil overnight. When I start to put the slide onto frame it still sticks. I can tap the end of the slide with my palm and it goes into battery. From there I can now grab the slide and rack it back and forth freely. I installed the new recoil spring, put the barrel in and got it back together. Now it seems to function like it should. From the racked position the slide snaps back into battery. I loaded the magazine and racked the slide several times. The ammo loaded and ejected just like it should. Now I just need to get it to the range and test her out. Thanks for all help.

No. They are a set of Nill-Griffe grips. They are very comfortable.

Than ks for the video. I did not take it down that far The problem I am having is what you see at 14:47. He is able to slide the slide back on the frame with out resistance. Thats where I am having problems. the slide will not slide back on the frame without sticking. I am going to soak the frame and slide in some Kroil overnight and then clean it again. Hopefully that will help.

We bought a 3D printer for the office a while ago. It is here basically as a toy for the employees to play with. We we have made all sorts of things. Model of a 1911, a Darth Vader, light switches and all sorts of little brackets and tools. Weell I came into the office Saturday morning and saw someone had figured out exactly what 3D printers are for.... Making poop emojis. [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Where were you yesterday? Lol. I stiripped down to give her a good cleaning. I am having a hell of time getting it back together. The slide sticks to the frame when you try to slide it back on. I can tap/bang the slide back on to the racked position and then tap it back into battery but I can not physically grab the slide and move it back and forth. Before i cleaned it I could but it was tough and sticky. Thought a good cleaning would fix that. Got any suggestions?

Cheaper than you would think. The company that sold these could have made twice as much had they priced the original run correctly. The used guns went for $1299 and $1349. The "nib" started at $1890. They steadily increased the price of those as the sold. They have like 17 left and they are priced at 2995.95. I paid $1349 for the used and got one of the first "nib" ones for $1890.

This all started almost a month ago. With no notice, a company listed some Colt USMC M45A1 CQBP for sale on Gunbroker. The seller claimed that these were the actual guns issued to and carried in theater by USMC Special Operations units, including Force Recon. People were very skeptical and thought this had to be a scam. I mean when was the last time you could buy an actual, carried military handgun. A discussion started on the Colt forum and the 1911 forum about these. Some of the guys knew some Colt employees and called them. Colt verified that these were the actual guns sold to and carried by the USMC Special Operations units. The USMC was not happy with the way the coating was holding up and returned a batch to Colt to be replaced. Colt inspected the M45A1s and issued a letter of authenticity with them and x out the USMC to show they had been demilled. Then sold the entire lot to the company selling them on Gunbroker. Now before you could even buy one you had to sign up for the Gunbroker Gold program. It is $50/year and gives you access supposedly to some good deals. These went up for sale Friday afternoon and were sold out by Monday morning. A couple of guys have stated tracking all the sales and compiling a list of the serial numbers. It looks like approx. 475 of the used guns were sold. Word is that there will not be anymore used ones. Then people started hearing rumors of some more guns that were going to be available but these were supposed to be “nib”. Meaning they were bought by the USMC and shipped to their armories but not carried. These went up for sale at a little higher price at the beginning of last week. They sold approx 368 of these with the majority going in the first two hours. They would put a small batch sell them and then raise the price for the next batch. I think they underestimated what the demand for these would be. These have become instant collectibles. Some of the used ones have shown back up on Gunbroker selling for 2.5-3 times what they cost. I was lucky enough to get one of the used ones and one of the “nib” ones. I just got the used one and the “nib” one should arrive next week.

Just picked up my first 1903. These are cool little guns. This one was made in 1913. Not bad looking for 104 years old. The 1903 is a .32. The 1908s, which look the same, are .380. I will probably end up getting one of those also. The slide is tight and a little sticky. I need to stip it and give it a good cleaning and then off to the range.

Chance to buy an older 1911 - Looking for feedback
KahrMan replied to MemHeli's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
That is a Model 1911 Military from 1918. The value depends if all the parts are matching. Have you stripped it to see if the slide is serial matched to the frame? Even if the parts are not all matching it will still have some value. Let me see what I can find out for you. -
Very nice. That is exactly what I want for my set up. Now I just need to sell my BFR .500 Mag and start looking for a good deal on Smith.

I'd be up for a another hat and a shirt

They make mounts for the BFR. The problem is the rear sight only uses one screw hole. It is recommended to use three screws to attach a mount. There is a lot of recoil so it has to be secure. That means I would have to have the two forward holes drilled and tapped. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Sounds like a good deal. Whats the problem?
-
Nice!

Thats kinda what I am leaning towards. I strongly considered a Clark Custom Gamemaster. You never know when an elephant might walk by so I think I will stick with the 460/500 over the 44 mag.
-
I want a revolver that will be used only for hunting. I am limiting my choices to either a 460 S&W Mag or 500 S&W Mag. I currently have a BFR with 7.5" barrel in 500 S&W mag. The other gun I am considering is a S&W 460 XVR. My BFR is not set up to take a scope. So my choices are either have the BFR drilled and tapped for a scope or sell it and get 460 XVR. Thoughts or opinions?

You know what he is doing is illegal, right? In Davidson county you must have a license to operate a lemonaid stand.
