Manti Te'o was just another good linebacker who found out in the championship game how it will be to play in the pros. He had no business even being at the Heisman award show. There are several better linebackers in the SEC than Manti.

Private sales in the future need to be run through some form of background check. Particularly at gun shows. The parking lot dealers and unlicensed individual selling lots of firearms indescriminently are causing a lot of the problems. Superposed NRA Patron Member

I need to smooth/reduce the trigger pull on two S&W Model 642 revolvers. Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith that can do this work in the Chattanooga/Knoxville areas? Any help is appreciated. Superposed

Bought a bag full of Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches and dropped them off at the vegetable/fruit stand down the road for the nice people that run it. I will be back tonight to get more food for supper.

I usually stop in a Gander Mountain when traveling to use the restroom. They are generally clean. But to buy something? Their prices are ridiculous. And I bought Federal 9mm at Floyd's in Sevierville for $9.95 per box at their reopening sale in their new location.

A commercial with sponsor's child/children in it saying dialog that is garbled. Chattanooga has several of these commercials. Any Sonic commercial with those two idiots going through the drive-through. Any commercial with Michael Waltrip (or for that matter Darrell Waltrip).

3rd Congressional Candidate Campaign Imploding
Superposed replied to Superposed's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Mayfield's has a new ice cream flavor coming out. "Tire Tracks". -
Scottie Mayfield (of the Mayfield Milk Company) has to be running the worst congressional campaign I have seen in a long time. So far he has: Admitted he sees nothing wrong with the way the incumbant Chuck Flieshman has voted in Congress. He could not elaborate otherwise on his ideas/plans if elected. When asked what his main agenda items would be in Congress if elected, he said he would wait till after he was elected to see what committees he would be on and then decide his priorites. Great, Mayfield wants voters to vote for a candidate who has no platform. His son just got caught cutting the tire stem on the car of one of Chuck Flieshman's workers. This brainiac was caught on tape messing with tire. Apologies from the Mayfield campaign. There is a Tea Party Debate coming up and two of the three main Republican Primary candidates will take part in the debate. Mayfield has declined to take part. Mayfield has to be following the election plan that Fred Thompson used to run to become the Republican presidential candiate in 2008.

What the police officer did was wrong and he should be disciplined/fired accordingly. On a separate note, Paxton (the dog's owner) is suspected of being involved in TWO hit-and-run accidents that have left the victims severely injured. A lot of circumstanial evidence but it all pointed to Paxton. If this is true, I feel sorry for Cisco and not the owner.

Went to Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, PEI, Nova Scotia and Pennsylvania Amish country in 2009 (took 4.5 weeks). In Maine liked the Ogunquit, Maine area on the lower end of the state. The Juniper Hill Inn in Ogunquit is an older motel that has been fixed up very nicely (we stayed there both coming and going). If in the Ogunquit area must sees are the Cape Neddick Lighthouse and the Kittery Trading Post store in Kittery. KTP has a lot of guns and other items. It is part of the Kittery, ME outlet mall. A good breakfast restaurant is Congdon's Bakery and Restaurant just up the road in Wells, ME. Get there early as they are very busy. Between Ogunquit and Portland, ME you will find a Cabelas at Scarbourough, ME. In Portland, ME the waterfront is a tourist area with shops, restaurants, whale tours and harbor tours. The harbor tour takes you out to the mouth of the harbor where you can see the Portland Head Lighthouse (its image is on a lot of advertising), the remnants of Revolutionary War forts, all kinds of boats and other lighthouses. Be aware that parking is at a premium at the waterfront and is expensive. We went to Freeport, Me and the L.L. Bean store(s). Impressive but no bargains. Didn't buy anything but an lobster roll. On highway 1 heading north be sure and stop at the Maine Prison Store in Thomaston (on the right heading north). Locally made items (including souvenirs) made in the Maine Prisons at very reasonable prices. Check out the wood sculpture in the window. Once my wife got over having her money for purchases taken by a prison guard while her pruchases were wrapped and bagged by a prisoner she loved the place (went back heading south). Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are beautiful areas. Cruise ships from Europe and ones crusing the Atlantic coast use this as a port of call. Twelve ships were scheduled to be in port the week we were in Bar Harbor. Another fixed up motel that is very relaxing and nice is the Bar Harbor Motel. Very spacious rooms and you park right by the door. The best place to eat breakfast in town is Jordan's Restaurant on Cottage Street. I loved their lobster omletes and blueberry pancakes. A good local restaurant is The Chart Room on the main road into Bar Harbor. If you should get as far north as Lubec, ME be sure and visit Franklin Roosevelt's summer retreat on Campobello Island. Just be aware it is on a Canadian Island and will require a passport to get there and come back. Have a great trip, eat a lot of lobster, see a lot of lighthouses and be sure and take some change for the toll booths on the Maine interstate.

Do ya'll eat Hush Puppies with your Barbecue?
Superposed replied to Will Carry's topic in General Chat
It is hard to find a restaurant (BBQ or Catfish) that knows how to make a good hushpuppy. Some of the worst hushpuppies are found at Florida seafood restaurants. A hushpuppy should be "light" with a crispy outside and a cooked through inside. Not dried out inside but slightly moist. Hushpuppies should not be hard enough to be used as a weapon. The best hushpuppies I ever had were made with a recipe from the old Bellis Botel down below Pickwick Dam. The owner of the Botel used to come to the Boat/Sports show out a the old large arena out at the State Fairgrounds in Nashville. He would be cooking hushpuppies to hand out. He would also give out the recipe. My father spent a lot of time talking to Bill Bellis about how to cook the fish and hushpuppies. The hushpuppies were light yet crispy. I believe the hushpuppies had some sour cream in them. My father took the recipe and upped the amount of onion. We had some of the best fish dinners with family. The hushpuppies were as much of a hit as the fish. -
Over the years I have lived next to two people who were weekend/sunny day motorcycle riders. Both seem to think that their motorcycles have to run for 15-30 + minutes before taking off for a ride. The bikes just sit there and idle with an occasional revving of the motor. Then there is more motor revving before they take off. In both cases it is beyond a "warm-up" of the engine. Maybe their constantly revving of the engines makes up for a lack of manhood or other insecurities.

Chris Reed says he is a former National Sporting Clays champion. Exactly what title, where and when did he win in Sporting Clays? Tennesseans Bill McGuire and Wendell Cherry yes. Never heard of Chris Reed winning any sporting clays NATIONAL Title.

Dooley gave him the game ball. Great story.

What do you expect from a politician in the liquor industry's pocket? Bought and paid for to the tune of $12,000 in contributions in two years. A great person to have sponsoring firearms legislation. Gerald McCormick is already trying to downplay the arrest and cover for Todd. It will be interesting to see what Beth Harwell does with this clown.

What are the chances Tennessee stuns LSU on Saturday
Superposed replied to ls3_kid's topic in General Chat
Phil didn't have the players in his last years. That has been part of the problem in his last year and last year and this year. Against LSU and Alabama. No chance. With no running offense and Bray out the MTSU's, "Candy" and a terrible Kentucky are the only teams they will beat. But that would get them to a bowl game. -
I gave up on dove hunting in Tennessee several years ago (hunts way too crowded and unsafe, results too unpredictable, lousy job of planting fields by TWRA, private pay hunts charging and then putting non-paying friends/family members in the prime spots, etc.). I head out to Oklahoma every year and hunt 15 to 20 days in a row on a set of 12 to 17 fields that are hunted with days of rest between hunts with good numbers of birds every day and plenty of room for the hunters in the field. Also get the benefit of having some Whitewings to shoot. Have hunted doves for over 45 years and decided I was going in the US where they had some good hunts on successive days.

Employee pulls gun during Wal-Mart produce dispute
Superposed replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Where is the updated story RevScottie (link please)? Old man overreacted and deserves to loose his CCW. This didn't happen in a dark alley. It happened in a Wal-Mart produce department. Talk about paranoid. -

I hope they charge the man who pulled the gun with everything possible. He obviously is not responsible enough or has his emotions under control enough to carry a firearm (or probably drive an automobile). -
Killer of Police Officer may have purchased a pistol at a gunshow.
Superposed replied to Superposed's topic in General Chat
I guess I would be under suspicion if an individual on an individual sale asked me for my name and social security number. I won't give out my social security number for any individual to check out. Just isn't very smart to do that. -
