If the fine ground walnut media with a capful of case polish doesn't get it clean, it doesn't need to be any cleaner. Primer pockets just need to be clean enough for the primer to seat securely. You will never know if the inside of most rifle cases are clean anyway.

There is plenty of oil. Supply is not the problem. Nor has demand gone up. The problem is how we are paying for it. Thanks to Congress and Obama, the US dollar is worth about 1/4 what it was just two years ago. That's what happens when you print more dollars than the economy can support. While China was buying our debt, this overage never really had an effect domestically. Now, China isn't buying any more, so there are lots of dollars that nobody wants. I use Hoppes or Ballistol. Get the Ballistol in the 16oz liquid can. Midway has it for $8.99. Add your old Windex sprayer and you'll save a bunch of money versus buying a 6oz aerosol can. Ballistol is not like normal cleaners and lubes. The stuff has been standard German Army issue since 1905. Leaves a waxy feeling to steel. Softens carbon on AR15s nicely. Just spray it on and let it soak overnight. The carbon will come off easily. I usually just spray down my AR15 bolt and carrier and come back and clean them a couple of days later. Great if you use corrosive ammo as it neutralizes the corrosive salts. Also useful on leather and wood. While it will soften old cosmoline, you are still going to have to get dirty to really get cosmoline off.

The classic target load is 4.0 grains of Bullseye and a 230gr lead bullet for 810fps. Max load is 4.8gr of Bullseye for 884fps. Do NOT start with a max load, but back off at least 10% and work up in .1gr increments. I use 4.0gr of Bullseye with both cast and jacketed bullets. Good reliable target load. for range use, neqar-maximum loads are usually less accurate, and cause unnecessary wear on the firearm, as well as muzzle blast and flash.

We're working on it. It took over 15 years to get our current level of handgun carry. And it was done while Democrats controlled the Legislature, too! We'll get Constitutional Carry, but it may take a while.

Exactly. There is no 'right to vote' at the Federal level. What the amendments say is that those who DO have that right cannot be denied it by virtue of race, color, previous condition of servitude, sex, failure to pay poll tax or other tax, or age (as long as they are 18 or older). States still have the right to restrict the vote on any other grounds they choose. Examples might be; those who earn above a certain level, those who own property, those who can hit a 5" target at 100 yards with a centerfire rifle, etc.

I'm not trying to be mean, but any vehicle that can't keep up with traffic has no business being in the road. I don't much mind the farmer on the tractor getting from one field to another. Most of them are on and off the road quickly. And a bicyclist that stays near the shoulder is not much of a hazard either. But these people that are determined to take up half a lane or more are a hazard. On a two-lane road, you get cars swerving all the way into the oncoming lane to pass them, and other cars stuck way back are trying to pass the cars in front of them. And it's not just bikes. I have a neighbor with a little scooter he uses to go to the grocery store. The speed limit out here is 45, and his scooter can't do that downhill and with a tailwind. Uphill with a headwind and a basket full of groceries, he's lucky to hit 25mph. I can't tell you how many near-accidents he has caused.

My son and I panned many times in Western NC and N GA. We used to do it when we took a break while hiking in the mountains. All we ever found were flakes, and not in any quantity. It's fun for a 1/2 hour. After that, it quickly becomes cold, hard work. I think in 10 years we managed to find a grand total of probably 1/4 ounce.

Very popular in Europe and other places in .38super and 10mm for IPSC competition. Don't get a 10mm polymer frame as they had some issues. Caliber conversions are available to convert a .45, 10mm, or .38super to another of those calibers or .22lr. The 9mm can be converted to .40S&W and vice versa, as well as .22lr.

I had this issue with a Star BKS many years ago. The only thing that worked was to remove the rear sight, carefully crimp the dovetail, the slide the rear sight into place with many small, gentle taps of the lead hammer. Then another crimping to lock the sight in. After that, your rear sight won't move any more, but can still be adjusted for windage by gentle tapping with the lead hammmer. I still carry a Star PD .45. IMHO it is the best CCW pistol ever made. Small and light enough to easily conceal and carry, but large enough to handle the .45acp without being uncomfortable to shoot.

I see several for sale on Gunsamerica for $250-275. My guess is that you won't find one much under that price. The thing about C&R firearms is you need to get them when the supply is good. When the importers start running out, prices climb pretty quickly.

There is no requirement to report multiple long gun sales like there is for handguns. And I don't know ANY dealers who do any more paperwork than the law requires.

The Firestar is an excellent CCW pistol. Very small, durable, and reliable. Only real weakness is the firing pins will break if you dry-fire a lot. Use snap-caps and you'll be fine. Use only factory mags for serious use. The ProMags are good for practice as you get to practice your FTF drills at irregular intervals. These are single-action pistols designed to be carried cocked and locked. The safety has a very positive feel and is not easily dislodged by accident. If yours is a bit stiff going on 'safe'. pull the hammer back slightly. They have a magazine safety under the right grip, but it is easily deactivated.

Nope, I don't agree. 1) A lot of our current problems came about because somebody said "There ought to be a law" when it is not the government's business. 2) Even ProMags have a useful purpose. I use mine to practice immediate-action drills as you never know exactly when they will cause a jam. You just know that they WILL cause a jam!

I've run many thousands of rounds of Wolf through submachineguns and pistols. It has not been a reliability problem in any gun I've used. Keep the ammo cool and dry and it will outlast you.

Congratulations!!! Now remember that ANY firearm made before 1961 is automatically a C&R!! Next year it will be 1962, and in 2013 it will be 1963. So every year, there are many thousands of additional firearms that you can buy! Kinda cool, isn't it!

Somehow I am having a hard time getting enthused about a large, heavy, low-powered revolver. When you add in the stupid safety lock, it makes me underwhelmed. But hey! That's what free enterprise and market competition is all about. Because there are other people who are interested in things I'm not interested in! I'd really love it if a reputable manufacturer would make an updated copy of the old Star PD .45. An alloy frame single-action, single-stack 1911 .45acp copy with no grip safety. But make it with the frame about 1mm thicker on each side at the frame rails, better low-profile sights, and Commander-style hammer. I'd grab one in a heartbeat!

The basic problem with Marxist economic theory is that it has no concept of 'relative value'. And ALL 'collective bargaining' is based on Marxist theory. Collective bargaining says that any worker with 'x' years experience and 'y' level of training is as good as any other worker with the same levels. Anyone with a brain knows that it is total hogwash. The union bosses are the only ones who benefit from a union. Show me where the unions helped airline pilots, mechanics, and flight crew at Eastern Airlines. Oh, wait, the airline went bankrupt because of the union. Over 18,000 people lost jobs. And the unions very nearly did just as good a job at Delta!! They would have done just as good a job at GM and Chrysler except that we, the taxpayers, got the shaft instead.

There is no mag ban. There is a bill in the US House, but it shows no signs of getting out of committee. This is one of those bills that gets lots of liberal press, but that congress REALLY does not want to pass. By submitting and sponsoring the bill, they can tell the liberals that they are working hard for more gun control. But if it ever gets out of committee and comes to a vote, then they are at risk of having gun owners target them next election.
