  1. You may be thinking of .400 CorBon. It's a .45acp case necked down to .40. Pretty near to 10mm in energy figures. Easy to handload if you have dies. Conversion barrels used to be available for 1911s in several lengths, Glock 21, EAA Witness, and others.
  2. Remington Model 8. But look! Original stripper clips on the back seat! Those are scarce as hen's teeth these days!!
  3. There are replacement barrels that can be had. Even original Long Branch barrels have show up. If you go that route, I would send it to a professional with experience with re-barreling SMLEs. Not a job for Bubba unless you want to risk a twisted receiver. You might look for some 8mm bore brushes. The SMLE has a .311 bore, not .308. So, normal .30 brushes sometimes don't do a good job of cleaning out gunk in SMLE and 98K bores. You might also try some bore paste. I've seen barrels I thought were hopeless turn out OK after an extremely thorough cleaning.
  4. That looks like a Winchester '73. She's got the trigger held back and her thumb ready to pull back and release the hammer. So, I would not want to be in front of the muzzle! Don't know the movie or actress. (but, YES, seriously hot!)
  5. Kneepads look correct. MG42 is unloaded with soldiers finger on trigger. That seems staged. The front two guys also look a bit too old for fallschirmjagers. Plus the third guy is about to shoot his buddy in the back with that MP40. MP40 sling is on the wrong side of the gun.
  6. Overall best .357 revolver: Original, pre-1980, Colt Python 4". Best trigger and balance: Pre-lock S&W Model 19 (Tend to get loose with a steady load of heavy .357 use. Under-rated: Colt MKIII Trooper. Not a Python, but pretty darn close! Best currently available new manufacture: Colt Python. Ruger certainly builds a durable revolver. Overweight and triggers are just OK. I won't touch a trigger lock S&W.
  7. That's quite a collection!! MP44, Beretta 38, Hakim 8mm, Spanish M43 8mm, Czech VZ52, US M14, maybe a MAS 49/56 in the far right?
  8. Portuguese paratroopers with original AR10s.
  9. Nashville: General Jackson river boat and dinner show Grand Ol' Opry at Opry Mills, Tuesday and Saturday nights. Get tickets early. Many clubs and restaurants on Broadway, most with live music.
  10. The new ones are VERY nice and work properly and reliably. I have an older one. Original magazines don't work well. New magazines 'might' work in an original pistol. I have to do some light filing to get a new mag to work in my pistol. Now, it works perfectly! Get a mag loader. Your thumbs will thank you! Factory ammo is available, but expensive. (What ammo isn't these days?!) If you reload, you can cut down GI .308 cases and load up your own ammo. If you buy the Pasadena gun, get a set of new springs. They are a lot of fun and always attract attention at the range.

    9.3x62

I almost bought a Mauser in 9.3x62mm. At the last minute, a guy offered me a .416 Rigby on a custom Enfield action. I bought the .416 instead. That was back in the days when I actually thought I might be able to go hunting in Africa. IIRC, 9.3mm uses .375 bullets, so reloading shouldn't be too difficult. The cartridge is very popular in Europe and Africa, so brass and dies should be available. Over there, they think that it is suitable for lions and other thin-skinned dangerous game. I wouldn't try it out on heffalumps or cape buffalo, though!
  12. IT is most likely going to fail in the Senate. But, never underestimate the ability of the Republicans to do something stupid. And never underestimate the ability of the Democrats to threaten wheedle, cajole, and blackmail to get their way. If that weren't the case, there would not have been ANY bills passed since Biden took office. If this bill passes, I predict massive non-compliance. But then that's the goal. If they can threaten us with jail, they think it will make us more pliable.
  13. I still like .30-06, .308, and 6.5Grendel for any rifle shooting out to 800 yards. I haven't had much occasion to shoot further than that.
  14. Except for the ones with cast iron receivers.

    Carry History

Buffers are good for about 300 rounds. I bought a small box of IIRC 20 way back in the day. I think I remember seeing them advertised recently. If you have a PD, get spare buffers.

    Carry History

    Colt Commander .45 > Colt LW Commander .45 > Star PD .45 > Remington 51 .380 (the original one) > Ruger Redhawk .44M (one winter to win a bet) > Star PD .45 #2 > Springfield XDs .45. With a KelTec P3AT .380 when I have to.
  17. XDs .45 normally. P3AT .380 when wearing shorts and t-shirt.
  18. The .22mag model is much more scarce. I do not know if it is in high demand or not. I know that I am very fond of the little M62 in .22LR.
  19. It's an Australian Owen SMG. I don't know the movie.
  20. Fake Thompson too. At least she has her finger off the trigger.
  21. I've handled it a few times. It's a heavily modified and lightened semi-auto Browning Automatic Rifle. It balances well considering it's weight (12 lbs). Those who have fired them like them a lot.
  22. I met him several times at Knob Creek. He was truly a legend in the NFA community. There aren't many of those guys left. I was hoping that he would finish Cold Resolve. I hope it will get published; finished or not!
  23. Around 1200 meters with an M2 from a M113A1. Just 800 meters using the M-21 and M1D. Plinking clay pigeons at 200 meters with the Sterling 9mm.
  24. I have an XDS .45. It has been very reliable with most ammo I 've tried (solid copper, not so much). My rule of thumb is to pick the caliber that lets the blood out fastest. While there are excellent 9mm loads that expand very reliably. There are .45 loads that expand much larger than that. And a .45 that doesn't expand is till a .45. While a 9mm that doesn't expand is only a .36. Neither is my choice for Grizzly. But, I'd rather have the .45 than be looking for a rock or stick!
