  1. I would also say a ruger mark pistol to have a target gun, which your collection seems to lack, might be something to do.

I have a Browning buckmark but didn't list it as it's not a carry gun. I do like your suggestion of the baby browning though.
  2. If you're looking for something different and somewhat unique, try a Smith & Wesson 457. It's been discontinued for a few years, but shouldn't be too hard to find a used one hanging around somewhere. This is one of Smith's most underated pistols. Fits all of your criteria; all metal (as long as you count the aluminum frame), DA/SA, carries easily (not too heavy and thin), and about $500 if you can find one. 7 round single stack .45acp. Probably very comparable in size and weight to your Colt.
This review is a few years old, but rates it against a couple of current popular carry guns: http://www.kahr.com/Reviews2007/gun-tests.asp

I like the way you think.
  3. Thanks for all the suggestions guys but so far (with the exception of the pepperbox and Desert Eagle cannon) its been all the pistols I have already considered. Maybe I have, God forbid, hit that point where I have all the pistols I want? That would be horrible!

  4. I have not purchased a new pistol this year yet and have been looking for new options. I've got what I would consider my "dream team" of carry guns but was looking for a new toy. I like different and unique carry guns. All metal and preferably single actions or SA/DA autos. Not a revolver fan. Price is in the $500 range.
Carry guns I currently own. So there are no suggestions that I already own.
    Colt New Agent .45
    Kimber solo carry .9mm
    Micro Dessert Eagle .380
    Bond Arms Snakeslayer 45/410
    American derringer DA38 .38spl
    NAA .22 mag
    NAA .22lr
    Rossi .357 mag snub
    Berretta Tomcat .32

All suggestions will be appriciated and any info on why you are suggesting a particular pistol would be helpful also. Thanks in advance.
  5. I've loved 1911's since I shot my first one in boot camp almost 30 years ago. I've owned, in order, a Springfield GI mil spec, Rock Island Compact, Para warthog, ATI Fx45, Colt officer series 80, Springfield GI micro compact, and finally the best 1911 I've ever owned or shot. My Colt new agent. No mods, no extras, just pure 1911 zen. It is IMHO the best evolution of the 1911 for every day carry. JMB would be proud.
  6. Man ime glad someone mentioned the sig 238,me personally i went through almost every polimer pistol on the market, ime talking kel-tec mutipile times 2 ruger lcp's and the taurus tcp, even tried the taurus polimer revolver called the protector, anyway spent alot of money and alot of ammo, then finally went to the 238 man i could not be happier to anyone reading spend the extra money and go with the 238 or the new mustang, you will not regret it they are both very pleasurable to shoot so you can use them as a range gun also.just my 2 cents.

I had the p238 and loved it. It shot great and never gave me a miss. I sold it when I went on a snub noise 38 bender then sold the 38 for the Micro Desert Eagle. I've had the eagle for 8 months now and love, love, love it. Looks good, shoots great and carries effortlessly. I can pack it with a spare mag in any pocket and it disappears. Only thing easier to carry is my NAA minis.
  7. Ok, so basically this will be a "Which guns that I use to have do I still miss" kind of deal.
Well, I'd love to still have the S&W M13, 4" that I use to own. I'd like to still have my Glock G19, Gen3 RTF2. I really like the Sig P225 that I use to have an also a Sig P239 was nice but I didn't care for the 40S&W it was chambered for, if it'd been 9x19mm I'd have liked it a bit better.
My current CZ82 is nice, don't see it going anywhere anytime soon. Other then that all the other handguns I've owned were ok but nothing really special even though a couple of em' were S&W M27's. They were just too large to carry much so they aren't on my "Top 5" list.

I've finally have all my favorite guns. It took years of buying, trying, trading and selling off, but I can't think of any pistols or rifles I'd rather have more than the ones I've got.
  8. Colt New Agent 1911 .45acp. Shoots everything from blazers to hydroshoks without fail. Light, thin, compact and accurate. Best ccw I've ever owned. Best 1911 I've ever shot. (And I've owned and shot many)
  9. You cant trust a carpenter with all new shiny tools.Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

I carry every pistol I own with the exception of the Buckmark .22lr. I take care of them and try to avoid accidents but non are safe queens. You can't trust a carpenter who doesn't maintain his equipment.

  10. I'd buy ammo and pack it as a back up. But seeing as I already have an American Derringer DA38, a Bond Arms Snake slayer with the 45colt/410 and 45acp barrels, I really don't need another big bore derringer. But damn it would be fun to shoot.
  11. Colt new agent. I've owned and shot multiple compact and subcompact .45, .40 and 9mm. And I've owned several compact and officer size 1911s including Springfield micro compact, colt office series 80, rock island compact, American tactical and a para worthog and the colt new agent is the best by far. Light, compact, takes extended 1911 mags and very accurate. I've got the trench sight model but you can get them with sights.
  12. I have an NAA .22mag with the 1 5/8" barrel and normally carry it in an uncle mikes pocket holster. I saw the belt cross draw bowler and thought its be a good behind the back, week arm carry solution. Anyone have one and is so, what are your thoughts. Also interested in other carry holsters anyone has found for these wonderful little BUG's. BTW, I already have the .22lr 1 1/8" barrel with the belt buckle Mister. It's hard the retrieve but easy to carry.
  13. Also, I really like that PT92! I like the way it looks. Would it be too large for carry though? How much does Academy charge for a background check?

Carry depends more on the holster than the gun. I've got a cross bread super tuck and can carry a full size 1911 all day and forget its there. Academy charges $10 for the background check.
  14. As far as AR's, I personally like Sig Sauer and Core 15. If I had to choose, Core 15.

I've got a core 15 and its a great gun for the money. Rock river is a dependable brand also but I've only had their pistol. Wouldn't think the rifle would be much different.
