  1. I have a SA GI full size and a RIA compact. Bought the SA as my first 1911 because it was true to the old WWII army models. Price was great and I knew SA customer service was outstanding. The RIA was a chance purchase. I was in the market for a compact 1911 and a gentleman just happen to have it at a good price. Turned out to be a great shooter.
  2. Sorry, got so excited I went dyslexic!
  3. Well I took the new Rosco to the range this after noon for her maiden voyage. I started out with my full size SA 1911 to get my aim on and to have a frame of reference for comparison. It took a few mags to get accurate and use to shooting the 1911 since it hasn't been to the range in several months. After getting comfortable with the full size, I loaded my first mag in the RIA. The target was set out about 30 feet. First round was dead center without even trying. Follow up shots stayed within 1.5 inches. This was outstanding to say the least. Never did I think it would be as accurate as the full size SA. All follow up mags at this distance achieved the same result. Second target was moved in to about 15 feet. Five rapid fire shots all stayed within the 9 ring. By the end of the second box of ammo, the 10 ring on the target was totally shredded. Recoil was brisk but not much more than the full size government model. After 100 rounds of aluminum cased Blazer ammo, I had 0 issues. Every time I pulled the trigger, it went BANG! Bottom Line. Great gun for a great price. Fun to shoot, easy to carry, bad guys beware. I love this little RIA!
  4. Great looking Rosco! Just got a compact 1911 myself and cannot wait to get it to the range. Let us know how it shoots. Congrats!

    That's one ugly gun!
  6. I'd keep the Kimber. 2K rounds proves it's reliable and after all, it's a 1911.

Low to mid $400.00. Should be taking it to the range Sunday so hopefully will have a range report on it.

I like it black. That way the only light coming off the pistol is the flash from the muzzle.

Well I had to have an evil black gun to go with my evil black rifle. And it's not really a Commander though. This one has a 3.5" barrel and the Commander typically has a 4.25". The .75" difference helps with concealed carry. Took it for a ride under my jacket today and it felt really comfortable. Only hitch was the extended beaver tail bit my side a little but nothing I couldn't adjust.
  11. Try a Springfield. Best bang for the 1911 buck IMHO. Owned mine for a few years now with only one FTF and one FTE. Both happened on the first day in the first 50 rounds. Since then no issues at all. And it is far more accurate than I am.
  12. MMMMMMMM! SPRINGFIELD!!!!!!!!!

Well the Taurus .44 Mag is sold. Although she only saw the range a few times, she will be missed. Hopefully the new owner will get more use out of her than I did. They say the best way to ease the loss of a firearm is to get another firearm. And here it is. A like new RIA 1911 compact. Picked it up from a very nice gentleman yesterday. She has Hogue grips added and came with a belt slide holster. Hoping to get her to the range next weekend and run a few rounds to break her in. Now all I have left in full size pistols is the SA 1911-A1 GI. Everything else is now a carry weapon. Hopefully she will shoot as good as she looks. Compared to my full size SA Got to love the feeling of a new gun. Feels like sunshine!
  14. PT stands for Pistola Taurus. It was the original designation for their first pistol the PT92. This designation is only given to the auto's and not the revolvers. Hope that helps
  15. Thanks for posting the thread. I'm in the process of converting my pistol collection over to carry weapons and the Citadel was on my list. Been looking at the RI also. Thought I might go to the GunShow in Nashville this weekend and fondle a couple.
  16. Great shooting. I had similar problems when I got my 1911. It was my trigger pull. 500 rounds later I was fine. Good looking gun too.
  17. I have been thinking about doing a similar conversion to my collection. Been thinking of selling some safe queens and getting a compact 1911. I had seen the RIA's but was not sure how I would like them. Going to take a serious second look at them now.
  18. Has she looked at the Sig P238? Great little gun. Very accurate and small enough to conceal just about anywhere. Academy in Rivergate has them for about $430.00
  19. My step-father was a Vietnam era Marine Corp vet and taught me to shoot when I received my first pistol at age 18. I have taught the same two handed style to my wife and her friend. In almost 27 years of shooting I have not found a better way of controlling a pistol for accuracy and follow-up shot placement. So that being said, please try and keep the information you contribute only to your experiences with the Smith & Wesson 637 Airweight. What problems have you incurred? What about the pistol do you like or dislike? Any repair issues or customer service dealings have you had? Things like this are what I need to know before I recommend to my friend whether or not to purchase this pistol. Thanks
  20. I carry a Firestar m40. It is the same size as my .357 Mag snub nose but packs the punch of .40 S&W. When thats too conspicuous I carry a Sig P238 in the back pocket and a Bond Arms Derringer loaded with .410 000 Buck in the front.
  21. Way ahead of you on this. We went through grip and hand placement while practicing today.

    Stolen Firearm

I grieve for your loss man!
  23. She is currently practicing with my .357 Mag snub nose to get used to the recoil. She is doing well with it in both .38 Spl and .357 Mag. I advised her of the added recoil inherent in an AirWeight so she is not going into it with any disillusions.
