Glad to hear it. I have seen a few on GunBroker but none in .45ACP. Most have been 9MM or 40S&W. Price is usually between $350 and $500. I purchased mine from the folks at Guns & Leather. Price was originally $289 but like always, they made me a deal I couldn't refuse.

Evo8ricer, you are welcome. BTW, are you a Harley rider? Just curious about your user name.
-
WOW. They look like the Wonder Twins. Mind if I inquire how much you gave for it?

Well it is a class A misdemeanor to own one if you are not military, LEO or emergency responder. Here is the link to the ATF site with the current law. Note that it states retailers must sign a notarized affidavit stating they will only sell to LEO, Military or Emergency responders. http://www.atf.gov/publications/download/p/atf-p-5300-5/atf-p-5300-5-tennessee.pdf Here is the current penalties for breaking the TN Switchblade law. Class A misdemeanor not greater than eleven (11) months twenty-nine (29) days in jail or a fine not to exceed two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500), or both, unless otherwise provided by statute My public service announcement is now complete. Evo8ricer beat me to the punch. The TN Codes he posted are correct. 39-17-1302. Prohibited weapons. (a) A person commits an offense who intentionally or knowingly possesses, manufactures, transports, repairs or sells: I have purchased SwitchBlades from online sellers before and every time they come with a letter advising they are shipping them under the assumption that I am an LEO or other authorized recipient. Bottom line is Tennessee has a MAD ON for Swithblades. Best to just get a Spring Asst Knife instead and save yourself the potential headache.
-
It is legal to sell them but you have to be an LEO or Emergency Responder to purchase, own, or carry them.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Below is the Tennessee codes definition of a switchblade. "(14) "Switchblade knife" means any knife that has a blade which opens automatically by: (A) Hand pressure applied to a button or other device in the handle; or ( Operation of gravity or inertia;" Based on this and after seeing the video on how the knife operatate, I believe LEO's would consider this to be a switchblade. If the knife didn't have that stationary lever on the back is would just be considered a "spring assisted" knife and legal to carry. Laws in tennessee state only LEO's and Emergency Responders are authorized to own or carry Switchblades. Hope that helps.

I own the Sig P238 and have personally put about 300 rounds through it without any issues. I know the first ones out had a feed problem with the Mag I think, but that issue was resolved rather quickly with a recall. I read the same article but have not had the same experience with my Sig. As far as I am concerned, she shoots great and is a CCW keeper.

Hey Guys. It's my birthday soon and while putting together my wish list for the wife, I wanted to add a good, comfortable holster. The pistol I will be carrying is my recently acquired RIA Compact 1911 with a 3.5" barrel. I looking for something comfortable that will allow me to tuck in a shirt also. Any help and links to said holsters would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Liberty Centurion Safe sold at Lowes
Mykltn replied to PackinMama's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I have this safe and love it. It fits perfectly in a closet and holds all 9 pistols, 5 rifles and about 2000 rounds of ammo. -
I have a Rossi, Taurus, Bond arms, Sig, Springfield, Rock Island and a FireStar. Calibers include .380ACP, ,357Mag, .40 S&W, .45ACP, 45LC and ,410 Shot Shell. Each one is a range tested, accurate and dependable CCW. I have no need to legitimize my chosen weapons. Each and every one is 100% guaranteed to do it's intended job. I could give a sh*t less whether or not you "love" my challenge. When the bad man sees the flash and feels the hot metal penetrate his chest, he's not really gonna care if my reliable CCW cost $300 or $3000.

I don't know anyone who has had a bad a Taurus. I have owned three and two of them I still shoot and carry. My Tracker 44 Mag was taken to the range twice and had only 50 round shot through it before I sold it. It seemed to be an accurate and dependable firearm and was only sold because of the expense of ammo. My Rossi .357 Mag (Rossi is owned by Taurus) has had over 2000 round fired through it without fail. Blazers, Winchesters, Remington and Monarch in 38 Spl, 38+p and 357 Mag ball and Jhp have all gone bang each and every time the trigger is pulled. My Taurus PT111 Mil Pro 3rd Gen has also had over 1000 rounds fired without any FTF/FTE issues. I have shot some real junk ammo through it and the only problem was a primer that didn't spark. But since it is a DA/SA, I just pulled the trigger again and hit my mark. Bottom line is I trust my Budget guns. They have never failed to do what they were designed to do. Anyone who believes they are junk is more than welcome to stand on the business end of one and challenge their reliability. Just my .

Have you seen the Taurus PT111 MilPro's? I have one that I've owned for about 3-4 years and it has been a very accurate shooter. I used to carry it when jogging and have put over 1000 rounds through it with only one failure to fire but thats was an ammo issue, not the gun. It is DA/SA, has an easy take down, holds 12+1 rounds and comes new with two mags. Puchased mine for $330 at the gun show and have seen them recently for about the same price.

Too bad you are so far away. I wouldn't mind having a second M40.
-
Please let me know how it does. I have been looking for a .45acp ever since I first shot my .40S&W. After not finding one, I finally bought the the RIA compact. Post a photo if you have one, I would be interested it seeing how it differs from the M40.
-
Was that shot proceeded by the shooter yelling, "Hay ya'all! Watch this!!"
-
Just curious how many folks have this pistol and what their thoughts are about it. I purchased mine a few months ago for a really good price. I have shot about 100 rounds through it and absolutely love this gun. It has the best trigger of any auto I've ever shot. Fit and finish is first class and the size is perfect for CCW. Overall, a great little gun.

I agree the CZ 2075 RAMI or maybe the Kahr 9mm. Both are about the same size. Don't know of anything smaller.
-
You don't need new sights, just get better eyes. Just kidding. Let me know what you find. I have a RIA compact and would be interested in knowing my options. BTW, Great guns!
-
I have a Springfield GI 45 and a Rock Island compact. Both are great shooters and very dependable. I can carry the SA but the shorter barrel on the RIA makes for a very comfortable ccw. Each was under $500.
-
Wow, you hang out with some good looking folks!

I've never handled the Star Ultra-star models. I have a Star M40 by the same company and I can tell you first hand it is an outstanding firearm. I would expect their other pistols would be of the same quality. Mine shoots better than I do and has the best trigger of any gun I've owned. I wouldn't hesitate buying another Star. Great guns!

Try Armory Outpost in Murfreesboro. They seem to be able to keep them in stock. About $24 a box.

Welcome to the world of SA 1911's. You can never go back now! BTW, cool looking heater!
