  1. The shooting of a quality 1911 is like the love of a good woman, a fine brandy and a smooth cuban cigar all rolled into one. I am exaggerating of course, but you get my meaning.
  2. Is it wrong to love a gun? I see a 1911 and my heart goes thump! The look. The feel. The really big bullet! I think my problem is I love too much. What say you?

    TN CCW...How to?

I used my own gun to qualify. The shop I went to also loans guns for the purpose of the class. My buddy shot his .22 Ruger at class. You do not have to use the gun you plan on carrying. You can carry any handgun once you get your permit. Bogey? Who's Bogey? That's my highschool yearbook photo!

    TN CCW...How to?

First you must attend a Handgun training class by a certified instructor. This is comprised of about 4 hours of class instruction followed by shooting 48 rounds into a target with at least 70% accuracy. Then you take your certificate of completion to the DMV, fill out the application and pay your fee. Next you will have to go get fingerprinted. The fingerprinting agency will send your prints off and then you wait up to 90 days to get your handgun carry permit. Hope this helps.
  5. I've been hunting for about a year now for a truly compact .45acp. I've looked at all the ultra compacts and even purchased an RIA compact but still wanted something smaller. Well I think I have found it in the Para Warthog. Same size at my .357 snubby but with 11 rounds of .45acp. Plus it just looks Bad Ass! Will post a range report as soon as I can bring myself to get it dirty.
  6. I am blessed with an understanding wife.
  7. Thats only part of the stable. Still got a Bond arms SnakeSlayer and a full size SA 1911 too. Its good to have choices!
  8. Search is over. I broke down today and gave in to the Para Warthog. Man that is one small 1911. Rides great in the belt slide holster and comes with two 10 round mags. Wishing I wasn't going on my Bike trip this weekend cause I would sure love to take this baby out to the range. Almost hate to put any holster wear on it but it feels too good not to carry. And the folks at Guns and Leather treated me right once again.
  9. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Unfortunatly, as I first stated, I don't really like plastic guns and I already own a sig 238 and a compact 1911.
  10. Looking at getting a new ccw. I currently carry a FireStar m40, a RIA Compact 1911 in .45acp, along with a .357 mag snubby and a Sig P238. Looking for another Compact or Sub-compact .45acp or .40s&w. I like metal guns. Nothing against Glock owners, I just prefer the feel of metal frames. Budget is about $600 new or used. Any suggestions or experiences would be helpful. Thanks.
  11. I found out years ago, it's all about what you feel comfortable with. All my carry autos are 1911 style. Can't beat cocked, locked and loaded.
  12. A 1911 in anything other than .45ACP just seems wrong.
  13. Welcome to the fold young man, welcome!
  14. pusherman, did you get the regular extended grip or the new extra extended grip?
  15. I've shot both the 410/45lc and the 45acp and both were managable. I wouldn't want to blow out 200 rounds with them, but a box of 50 if fine. The bond accually has less recoil than my old cobra big bore 38 spl did. Being stainless steel it's heavy for it's size and that helps lots.
  16. I've got two bikes. One is a customized 02 Honda shadow and the other is a one off custom chopper I built with some friends a few years ago. Luckly my belly hasn't given in to gravity yet.
  17. Don't know yet. Just got them in today along with 4 speed loading strips that fit 45acp, 45lc and 410 shot shells. Also got the driving holster. Can't wait to try it out on the drive to Florida this summer. Felt comfy on my afternoon Motorcycle ride though.
  18. As some of you know, I purchased a Bond Arms SnakeSlayer as a trial, driving, and back up weapon late last year. The SnakeSlayer is a Derringer style, two shot pistol in 45LC/410 Shot Shell. It comes with a 3.5" barrel, trigger guard and extended grip. This makes it a great gun for hiking, driving (anti-carjacking) and home defense when loaded with 410 Buck shot or #4 shot for the occasional snake. In an effort to make it a bit smaller for ccw or has a backup gun I have refitted it with a 3" 45 ACP, regular grips and removed the trigger guard. Some of you expressed concern in my range report over the SnakeSlayer being a bit on the large size for a two shot so I thought I'd post a before and after using my 2" 357 Mag for comparison. Let me know what you guys think. First with the original setup. Now with the 3" 45 ACP barrell, shorter grip and trigger guard removed.
  19. I own a 5" SA and a 3.5" RIA and shoot one as well as the other. The RIA is for carry and fits nice is a belt holster. The SA is more for the house and range. I wouldn't trade either as they are both great guns. Practice is your best friend when it comes to hitting a target with any size barrel. I say find someone with the lengths you are interested in and invite them, and their 1911's, to a day at the range and decide for yourself.
  20. I have a Rossi .357 Mag snub nose and love it. I've had mine 4 or so years and have put over 1000 rounds through it. In my opinion, the one you are looking at might be priced a bit high. Academy Sports has the Stainless Steel Rossi .357 Mag Snub Nose for $299.00 NIB.
  21. Mine is Nitron with 3 dot sights and aluminum grips. Still the Academy Sports price was $50 bucks cheaper than anywhere else around Nashville.
  22. Great little gun. I bought mine from Academy Sports in Rivergate north of Nashville. Picked it up for about $430. Shoots great, easy take down and is comfortable to carry in the back pocket. Very nice BUG or when your clothing restricts what you can carry.

    Impact power

Until recently I had a .44Mag revolver. It was an absolute BEAST! Shooting it along with my .45ACP SA and the .44MAG gets my vote on the "BIGGER BANG" scale. I think the .45ACP is a better defense round but the .44MAG has more power, impact and penetration.
  24. What's it cost? What colors can I get and where are they located? BTW Great looking Rod!
