Did I mention that it comes with four 15 rounds mags for the $380?

You have picked a great gun to start your 1911 experience. I have a Springfield GI Parkerized and absolutly love it. I would almost part this my child before the gun. Almost!

First I shot out the cross in the middle of the target. Then decided to get rid of all the white around the middle. then decided to get rid of the black and got a little carried away. Popped off the last 10 rounds as fast as I could and in my excitement, I drifted a bit.

With practice, it shouldnt be hard to master. I have long thumbs and have no problem turning it on and off. I practice turning it on the same as I would when taking off the safety during my draw. Seems to work well so far. The iron sights are very good also. Easy to see in regular light.

First off, this is the lightest revolver I have ever shot. I am used to .357 and .44 mags so a dedicated .38 is something new to me. The pistol is a five shot dedicated self defense gun so distances were kept short. The revolver has an unusual cylinder release located where the hammer would normally be. This is suppose to make the pistol comfortable for left handed shooters as well as right. The grip I had to use was higher on the grip than I am used to but was still comfortable. Holding the grip higher helps with the recoil and follow up shots. Since the gun is very light, even normal loads kick pretty good. It's defiantly not one you would want to shoot all day at the range. But as a self defense gun it does it's job well. Trigger pull was fairly good for a DA only pistol. The Laser was set for about 20 yards and did well for point and shoot aiming. Took a little practice to get her dialed in but well worth the effort. This little pistol should make for a good summer carry weapon. Shot at 50 feet.

Took the Stoeger to the range today to see how it shoots. WOW! Sent 100 rounds of steel cased Monarch junk down range and didn't even cause the slightest hickup with this amazing pistol. Sights were dead on and the DA/SA trigger was very smooth. It only took a few rounds to get used to the grips and trigger. Every shot after that was dead on the mark. Action was very smooth with little recoil. The Stoeger is an all metal gun so I am sure that helps with felt recoil. The trigger guard is also ribbed to allow your left index finger to lock on to it and pull the pistol tight into your hand. Oversized trigger guard also allows for shooting with gloves. With a price of $380, this pistol is almost too good to be true. Do not know why Beretta didn't succeed with the Cougar when it was under their badge but am happy they brought it back under Stoeger and am really happy with the price. A great shooting 9MM for under $400 bucks. Who'd a thunk it? To those who are on the fence about this pistol, GET OFF THE FENCE AND GO BUY ONE!!!!!!!!! Fifty round of the cheapest junk ammo I could find at a range of 50 feet. NUFF SAID?

I carry my M40 in an old belt slide holster I have for my 1911. Works great and keeps the little Firestar close to the body. I usually wear a tucked in t-shirt with an untucked shop shirt over the pistol and you can't tell its there. Even does well with just a regular un-tucked tshirt. I'm not a fan of iwb hosters so this works well for me.

It's been awhile since I had a good 9MM in the safe. Picked up this little beauty tonight at Academy Sports, It's a Stoeger Cougar in 9MM. For those that don't know, Stoeger is owned by Beretta. This is the reincarnation of the Beretta Cougar made with the same tooling but under the Stoeger name. It came with four 15 round mags and a lock. Can't wait to get it to the range and test it out along with the other purchases I made last month. Will post a range report on this one and the Smith & Wesson .38 Bodyguard as soon as I get some rounds put through them.

Not yet. Just got the bodyguard tonight. Hopefully with get them both to the range this weekend and will post something then.

Birthday is coming up and wanted to treat myself right this year so I wanted to get something that goes BANG! Problem is I cannot decide what to get. So to solve my problem, I got two. I love treating myself good, First up is a gently used Colt MK IV Series 80. Second is a new S&W Bodyguard with laser.

I own a FireStar M 40 and love mine. They are great guns. Sorry for your loss dude. I met a guy yesterday at the Murfreesboro gun show who had one for sale but he was asking $550 for it. It was too rich for my blood and told him I thought that was high for the peice. He may be there again today. He was a private seller and not a vendor.

I had the same problem with an 8 round mag I have for my Springfield. I just started loading it with 7 rounds and keep it just as a spare. Cheaper than dirt has a wide selection of 1911 mags if you need a few. They have pretty decent prices on the also.

I have the Titan Stainless and it shoots well. The recoil spring guild rod stop broke ( my fault for not reassembling it properly ) and they shipped me a new one no questions asked. After that I put another 100 rounds through it without any problems.

I have never owned a Charter Arms revoler but know that they have been around since the mid 60's. The plastic parts would scare me. When I was growing up in the 1970's Charter had a rep for being a Saturday night special kinda like Raven Arms. If you are looking for a Budget .357 Snubby, might I suggest a Rossi? I own one and it has been an outstanding pistol. Mine has well over 1000 rounds through it without a hitch. I even used it to qualify for my HCP and hit 100% using double action only. Plus you can get them new for under $300.00 if you look hard.

Sig P238 is a great pocket carry gun. I've had mine over a year now and have never has any issues at all with it. Always feeds and always fires. I also carry a Bond Arms Derringer in .45ACP and a North American Arms .22 Mag mini revolver as a "get off me" gun. Those are just the Jeans and T-Shirt guns. If I've got a little more fabric for coverage I carry a FireStar .40 S&W or 3" 1911 in ,45acp.

My wife also has a Walther P22 but she doesn't carry. It is a safe queen mainly and she has only taken it to the range twice. I took it the other day just to put some rounds through it and had no issues with feeding or accuracy. Although I am not a fan of plastic guns. I found the P22 to be a fun little shooter. I put about 150 rounds through it and it ran great. Here are the last 50 rounds at 25 yards. Now that's accurate!

I have a Rock Island 3.5" and an American Tactical Titan 3". Both are 1911 45acp and a great for carry and shooting. I had a Para Warthog but the damn thing had feed problems.
-
Where were you last month when I needed you bro? LOL
-
Well hopefully they get better cause the pistol I had sucked bad. Never even got to carry it as I didn't trust it to go bang when I need it. I just kept carrying my RIA compact. Hope the ATI is as reliable as the RIA.

Great link. Very informative. This would explain why the new pistol feeds better since it has a heavier slide. I always prefered heavier guns anyway. That way when you run out of ammo, you can always drop it on the bad guys toe to distract him while you go for your bug.
-
The new gun has a 7 round mag. It also will take a 6 round mag to make it a bit easier to conceal.
-
I noticed the same thing. If I kept a death grip on it, it shot well. Must be something in the recoil spring. Don't know but now it's someone else's problem. Buyer beware!

Ok, it has been a tough couple of months trying to break in this beautiful pistol. I wanted so much to love this gun and give it the chance to love me back. But like a scorn suiter, I am left broken hearted and pennyless. She just did not want to love me back. The third set of 100 rounds for the prescribed breaking period was better than the first two visits but in the end there were far too many failures to feed. Remmington, UMC, and Winchester ammo all suffered the same problems. As a last attempt to make it work, I cleaned and oiled it well and took it to the range one last time. I was 30 rounds in to the box of 100 thinking "It may just work!" No jams and hitting everything I was aiming at. Then on the 4th mag full of hollow points it happened. The 3rd round jammed! Ok, maybe this is just a limp wrist on my part. 5th mag jammed, 8th mag jammed and 2 jamms on the 10th and final mag of ammo. She officially SUCKS! Ok, now for the happy ending. Just as the best way to get over a girl who's broken your heart is to get a new girl. The best way to get over a bad gun is to get a good gun. Say hello to my new little friend. She is an American Tactical Import and I love her! I know what you're thinking, rebound love right? Well, she has been to the range and I fed her 50 flawless rounds of winchester ball ammo and she hit the mark each and every time. This is of course a stock photo as she is still dirty. The boys at guns and leather made me a good trade for the Warthog and I got money back too boot. My official range report for this pistol is that it works just like a quality 1911 should. It's a rock solid chunk of stainless steel that is a dream to shoot. I feel so free I want to sing. Ding Dong the Witch is dead, The wicked Witch is dead!
