I'd hate to have to defend my case on why I shot a mugger 10 times to a bunch of leftist jury members who don't believe I have a right to own a firearm in the first place. Two in the chest is self defense, ten in the chest is just mental.

"One shot takedown" refers to the power of the round, not my mentality. I began my firearms training before you were born and am a firm believer and practitioner of the double tap firing method.

Tennessean writing about CCW reciprocity laws
Mykltn replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I travel to Illinois a lot and they do not recognize TN Carry Permits. Even though I know their laws, I always call their handgun department and speak with a rep. I advise that I have a carry permit and will be traveling to their state and "what do I need to do to comply with Illinois laws while I am in their state?" The answer is always the same but I always get the name of the state worker I spoke with and the time and date I called just in case I have to explain to an LEO why I have a firearm locked in my truck safe. This Woman unfortunately did not check with NYC to see what her responsibilities are when carrying a handgun to their city. It's a hard lesson to learn and hopefully they will show some leniency towards her for trying to do what she believed to be the right thing. I personally believe the right to carry should be respected and granted to law abiding citizens in every city and state, but until then it is the responsibility of those who carry to make sure they are within the law. -
It feels like a slightly (and I mean very slightly) larger version of my Sig P238. I have carried it a few times now and the rounded edges and light weight make you forget it is there. Plus I love that it is an all metal gun. Nothing against Glocks and the like, I just prefer the feel of an all metal gun.

Good wife man. I save my wife the time and just buy them myself for birthdays and christmas. LOL

Not sure, I have the S&W Bodyguard .38 and quite honestly, I don't use the laser on it. I have always been a big believer in iron sights as they are always reliable.

I think the Hornady 147 TAP shot best. It's such a heavy bullet and with the +P load I believe it would give the best chance of a one shot take down. Will try some other rounds as time goes on but that is my pick for now.

Because so many have asked, here it is. Today I finally got the new Kimber Solo to the range for a test run. This pistol was purchased used so I was hoping the first owner preformed the proper break in. Instructions on the website say to use 124 grain or higher ammo. So keeping that in mind, on to the report. I decided to use three different types of ammo. First up is standard Winchester 115 grain fmj target ammo. Fired one mag and everything went fine but the slide did not lock open after the last round. Next up was 115 grain Hornady Critical Defence. Ammo shot good but slide didn't stay open after the last round again. Finally I ran a mag of 147 grain Hornady TAP ammo. This shot well also and finally the slide stayed open after the last round. Shot another mag of this and the 115 grain HCD and to my surprise both mags fired flawlessy with the slide staying open when the mag emptied. Decided to try another mag of 115 grain target FMJ and the mag stayed open on that one too. Ran another 40 rounds of 115 taget FMJ with the last two mags shot as fast as I could pull the trigger. All 40 rounds fired flawlessly. So 10 rounds of 115 HCD, 10 rounds of 147 grain H/Tap and 50 rounds of 115 grain Winchester FMJ and no FTF or FTE. Only issue was the slide not locking open on the first two mags. Not bad I think. Now on to accuracy. Seeing as Kimber claims to have the shortest 9MM barrel on this gun, accuracy was very good. Without trying I managed to get all rounds center mass and was even able to get 5 rounds in a three inch group at 50 feet. The gun does have a bit of a kick but not as much as an airweight .38 Spl. So all in all, this Kimber has turned out to be an accurate, reliable subcompact. I have already cleaned and reloaded it. It is now on my hip and I don't plan on taking it off until the wife throws a fuss. This is a great little gun and has made me a happy Kimber owner.

I am hoping to get it to the range this weekend. Will give a range report as soon as it is run through the ringer.

I felt the same when I handled this one. Picked it up used at a local shop. I love subcompacts but do not care for plastic guns which are what most subcompacts are. Now an all metal subcompact in a semi 1911 style is very appealing to me. Just wish it had an external hammer. Then it would be perfect. lol

.380 vs .38+p........... ? which is more lethal ?
Mykltn replied to SonnyCrockett's topic in Handguns
Gotta go with the 38 Spl. Add a +P defense round and it should be enough to stop most any threat. Now that being said. A good 380 defense round has it's merits also. Either way, both are better then a pointy stick. -
Got myself an early Xmas present. It's a Kimber Solo 9mm. This thing is super small. Side by side, it is just a hair bigger than my Sig P238. I am hoping to make it an every day carry and will be looking for holsters soon. My question is does anyone have this pistol and if so, what rigs do you use for carry. Thanks.

I have had many knives in my time but my favorite has got to be Boker. I've got an auto top lock and three fixed blades. I love them. Best knives I've ever owned.

I don't have one and it makes me feel empty and hollow inside:(

Same with my SnakeSlayer. Eats everything and kicks like a mule.

I own the Starvel m40 for about a year now and it is a very good ccw. Its heavy but that helps with recoil and the trigger is very smooth. Great little gun. Got mine at guns and leather in greenbrier for about $250. with original box and two factory mags. I wouldn't sell mine for twice the price, thats how much I love it.

Bought myself my first fixed blade knife for Christmas. It was a Boker Caper with a 2" blade and stag handle. I have an old BokerMatic that my Step-dad used to carry and have always been impressed with Boker's quality. The knife was meant to be a personal weekend carry as I have knives I carry for work but I found myself using it more and more as an every day knife. This started me thinking that I may need a second knife for my days off and just carry the small Boker for work. Well wouldn't you know it, Boker makes the Caper in a slightly larger 3" blade with the stag handle. As a man who normally carries a quality folder, I am very impressed with these fixed blade knives. They are both razor sharp out of the box and the fit and finish is impeccable. These pair have now become my favorite blades and the first ones I reach for then I get dressed. I have all lengths and types of knives from auto, to spring assist and just plain old lock backs but the Boker fixed blades have relegated them all to the knife drawer. Boker has defiantly made me a loyal customer.

I've been seeing a lot on the net about the new Rossi Ranch Hand line of lever action pistols lately and was wondering if anyone has gotten their hands on one. I love the look of these and the "Wanted Dead or Alive" image is very appealing. I have even been considering selling my Marlin 1894 .44 Mag to fund one but wanted to get some first hand impressions before I commit to the purchase. Anyone got info or first hand prospectives on these?

You've got a couple great looking Smiths there!
-
Rossi blued .357 2" and a S&W Bodyguard .38 spl. The .357 does nightstand duty and the bodyguard is my summer carry.

Life is to short to shoot unhappy! Get a gun that makes you happy and go kill some paper people!

Update to the range report: Loving wife and son has purchased for me the Thumb Break Scabbard from Smith&Wesson and I have to tell you, it is a damn comfortable rig. I wore it all day Sunday and all but forgot it was there. The Holster is molded perfectly for the revolver and has a tension screw for fine tunning the fit. Quality is top notch and it can even be worn upright or with a slight forward cant. Great holster for a great gun. This is a must have with this revolver.

Got my first S&W wheel gun the other day also. Hope yours shoots as well as mine. Congrats on the new rods!
