  1. I have only owned one Kimber and it is the Solo Carry 9mm. I got it used but have put 100 rounds through it without any FTF/FTE's and most of that was with the 115gr target ammo which they say not to use. They recommend at least 124gr premium loads. Its ultra small and very accurate for the size. Geat little self defense gun. As for 1911's, I've got a Springfield GI full size and it runs like a sewing machine.
  2. I stopped by the starbucks on murf road in antioch this morning. Picked up a sandwich and a large cup of coffee. The guy at the window commented on my 2 dollar bills. I explained the NGVAC boycott and how I support the company's policy and that the 2 dollar bills were in reference to the second amendment. Turns out he had not heard of the boycott. He was also a second amendment supporter. I will be back again in the evening for my second cup of joe.
  3. Not sure if by "size" you are refering to the caliber or actual dimentions of the firearm. As for my wife (5'4" 120lbs) the dimentions of the Tomcat are perfect. She has no trouble getting all her fingers on the grip. Thumb safty is in a good place and the mag release is easy to find and use unlike her previous Walther P22. Tip up barrell release is easy to use and load also. I own revolvers, several autos and a couple derringers of different sizes. I have 45acp's, 9mm's, 40s&w's, .357's, 380's, 38's, 22's and 45/410's all in various size handguns and she has tried them all. Base reason for her liking the Tomcat is it's ease of use. She feel confident that she can load and make it ready all by her self. She feels equally confident that she can make it safe when not in use. These are hugh plus' when considering a handgun for carry and self defense. As for caliber size. A well placed .32acp will deter any attacker bent on duing a person harm. How do we get a well placed round? By giving them a weapon that they are comfortable shooting and carrying. And as we all know, statistics show the majority of attacks that happen when the victim is armed are prevented simply by the intended victim pointing a firearm at the attacker. Having a firearm and being comfortable with it increases the confidence level and demeanor of the female which is often enough to dissuade a would-be attacker from making an advance in the first place. Now I am not suggesting that the case with my wife and the Tomcat fits all situations for every other woman out there. I am just simply giving my solicited advice to a fellow TGOer that faces a similar situation as I. Get her a Tomcat, she'll love it.
  4. Got my wife a Berretta Tomcat and she loves it. It is a great gun for ladies that have trouble racking the slide like my wife does. I tried revolvers and light autos but non seemed to make her confident enough to carry until the Tomcat.
  5. Actually JMB didn't invent the semi-auto pistol. Several models were available a decade before Brownings designs. But has I stated, a polymer 1911 is a solution to a problem that does not exist. Besides, you can't buffalo a guy with a plastic gun. LOL
  6. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. This looks like a solution in search of a problem.
  7. Because it's wrong.
  8. I have the .22mag with 1 5/8 barrel and both .22 mag and .22lr cylinders. I also have the .22 LR with 1 1/8 barrel and bone grips that fits in the belt buckle holster. These are great little "get off me" guns.
  9. Love Rock Island compacts. I had one for a few years and made the mistake of selling it to a friend. Bastard refuses to sell it back to me. Congrats on getting a great gun. They are rock solid 1911's.
  10. Why carry just one? My wife has often gripped at me for carring three or more at one time. I keep telling her I like to keep my options open. LOL
  11. First time I took my son to the range we picked out a Zombie Image target for him. He was shooting my Ruger SR22 and kept wanting to bring the target in so he could see if he "got him in the eye". Now that's a Kodak moment if you ask me.
  12. Damn skippy! Funny how the only good articles in the Tennessean are the Opinions. LOL
  13. Thats why I got 40 dollars worth:)
  14. It seems, from what I've read on other sites, that poeple are planning to spend $2 bills at Starbucks during the boycott. The $2 bill being a representation of the second amendment. It also has a lovely image of the signing of the declaration of independance of the reverse. I stopped by my bank today and bought $40 worth of $2 bills this afternoon. I plan on having breakfast, lunch and dinner there on Valentines day. Also plan on purchasing 2 of their gift cards for my sons teachers in hopes they will spend them there that day. Viva La Cafe!
  15. Berretta Tomcat .32acp. Bought the wife one and she loves it. She's had a Walther P22 and didn't like it because it was too complicated in her eyes. She also has a .357 snub but says it becomes uncomfortable to shoot even with .38 after 30 rounds. She has no trouble with the Tomcat and can shoot all day with it. Easy to load, easy to clean and still a respectable carry gun with the right loads. Just my 2 cents.

  18. I say you failed. Your headline, photos and story in general leads readers to a bias conclusion. You generalized the only statistic you had to hide the fact that gun show purchases were almost a nonexistent source of illegally purchased firearms. You failed to gather any significant facts to support any assumptions made by either side and based your entire story on opinions of selected folks you interviewed. Your are ill-informed, un-read on the issues and in derelict in your duty to provide your reads the information needed to form an educated opinion on the subject. You sir, are a hack and should be ashamed to call yourself a journalist.
  19. About time ya slacker! Just kidding, congrats dude.
  20. Gotta love a single action compact 1911! Congrats bro.
  21. Do we really need another Plastic gun? How am I suppose to Buffalo someone with a plastic gun?
  22. I heard some bad things about the New Agents. If you don't mind, what where your experiances with it? I almost bought one but got a great deal on a used Kimber Solo that I love. I have the Sig P238 also and it is outstanding!
  23. Supreme Court rulings involving the Second Amendment as it pertains to an individuals rights. United States v. Cruikshank, 92 U.S. 542 (1876). This was the first case in which the Supreme Court had the opportunity to interpret the Second Amendment. The Court recognized that the right of the people to keep and bear arms was a right which existed prior to the Constitution when it stated that such a right "is not a right granted by the Constitution." Presser v. Illinois, 116 U.S. 252 (1886). Although the Supreme Court affirmed the holding in Cruikshank that the Second Amendment, standing alone, applied only to action by the federal government, it nonetheless found the states without power to infringe upon the right to keep and bear arms, holding that "the States cannot, even laying the constitutional provision in question out of view, prohibit the people from keeping and bearing arms, as so to deprive the United States of their rightful resource for maintaining the public security and disable the people from performing their duty to the general government." Presser, moreover, plainly suggested that the Second Amendment applies to the states through the Fourteenth Amendment and thus that a state cannot forbid individuals to keep and bear arms. United States v. Verdugo-Urquirdez, 110 S. Ct. 3039 (1990). This case involved the meaning of the term "the people" in the Fourth Amendment. The Court unanimously held that the term "the people" in the Second Amendment had the same meaning as in the Preamble to the Constitution and in the First, Fourth, and Ninth Amendments, i.e., that "the people" means at least all citizens and legal aliens while in the United States. This case thus resolves any doubt that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right. Seems we have had this discussion before. The opinions are the same, only the losers change. There is a reason the founding fathers called them "The Bill Of Rights". Not the Bill of guildlines, or rules, or even laws. They labeled them as "Rights".
  24. Sorry Brian, I have to take exception to this comment. I feel we do know what the intent of the founding fathers where on the issues of the peoples right to keep and bear arms. But just in case, lets ask them. "Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?" Patrick Henry American Patriot "Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good." George Washington First President of the United States "The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside … Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them." Thomas Paine "The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that … it is their right and duty to be at all times armed; … " Thomas Jefferson letter to Justice John Cartwright, June 5, 1824. ME 16:45. "To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them." Richard Henry Lee American Statesman, 1788 "The great object is that every man be armed." and "Everyone who is able may have a gun." Patrick Henry American Patriot "Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not." Thomas Jefferson Third President of the United States "The best we can help for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed." Alexander Hamilton The Federalist Papers at 184-8 "I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them." George Mason Co-author of the Second Amendment during Virginia's Convention to Ratify the Constitution, 1788 "A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves …" Richard Henry Lee writing in Letters from the Federal Farmer to the Republic, Letter XVIII, May, 1788. "The people are not to be disarmed of their weapons. They are left in full posession of them." Zachariah Johnson Elliot's Debates, vol. 3 "The Debates in the Several State Conventions on the Adoption of the Federal Constitution." "… the people are confirmed by the next article in their right to keep and bear their private arms" Philadelphia Federal Gazette June 18, 1789, Pg. 2, Col. 2 Article on the Bill of Rights "And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the Press, or the rights of Conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms; …" Samuel Adams quoted in the Philadelphia Independent Gazetteer, August 20, 1789, "Propositions submitted to the Convention of this State" Seems pretty evident to me what they meant. Maybe the smart people who are debating against this aren't so smart.
  25. All this lovely chatter about the Second Amendment makes me wanna go to the safe and hug my guns!
