I heard that somewhere? I would buy a Smith and Wesson 1911 if they would make one with an internal extractor, I HATE external ones
-
It sounds like you are prepared, If you replace the MIM parts that is what I would do, I didnt realize that Kimber made steel mainspring houses, that is good news, and if your Kimber works fine for you, that is all that matters, none of my guns are safe queens though, and if ever I have to use one of them I am absolutely certain that they will go bang when I pull the trigger, as far as it being taken away, in the event that I HAVE to use it, that moment, I guarantee defending my family will be worth more to me than the cost of ANY 1911 ever made, It sounds like you have a Good Kimber, the Pro CDP is my favorite model that they make, enjoy it!

I personnaly have nothing against Kimbers, My first 1911 was a stainless steel Ultra carry, that was a great gun, with the external extractor, I fired about 2500 rounds through her, without any problems,(I must have been one of the lucky ones) Now, I paid $960.00 out the door for that pistol and Loved it, a couple of years down the road, and all I met up with some guys who had some Ed Brown pistols at the range, one of them let me shoot his, after shooting an Ed Brown Kobra Carry I decided to move up the ladder. Kimber has 2 things that are great their frames and slides, alot of custom gunsmiths will build on their frames and slides because they are built so well. However Kimber maintains a low price because they use Metal Injection Molding (MIM) on their hardware and Plastic mainspring housings For what you pay for them Kimber makes a very good gun, dont let anyone tell you any different, Just a little advice though once you start on 1911's they are very addictive, and alot of people would be better saving some extra money and going to a Les Baer or another high end gun, Like I said I paid $960.00 out the door for that Ultra Carry, I could have bought a Les Baer Thunder Ranch that same day for $1450.00 out the door, Is the THunder Ranch worth $500.00 more than my Kimber was? you bet. If I had a dollar for everyone I know that started with a Kimber and moved up the ladder due to reliability issues, I would be very wealthy! Regards,

Are there any member only gun clubs close to Cookeville that anyone is aware of? I know of Bend of the River, anymore? Thanks

I have hearing problems as well due to firearms, The Pro Ears are expensive, but let me tell you, they work incredibly well, I like them soo much that I have 2 pair, one for me and one for whoever goes shooting with me, when it comes to hearing, and eyesight, these are two things that people cannot afford to not have the best, I reccomend the PRO-MAG PLUS (DPM-1P), the slim line ones that you are looking offer the same protection, go for them you will not be dissapointed,
-
That looks like a sweet gun, I handled one at Collectors firearms in Houston Texas, If I scratched it that bad on the first day, I would get rid of it and not spend that money on a gun again, some people just don't need expensive toys!!!
-
Thanks for the link, I was too late!!!! sold out, Ill try later
-
I have 2 pair of Dimension 1 PRO MAG PLUS, I love them, they are far better than I imagined, I have not tried the slim, but I highlly reccomend anything from them,
-
Is that for 45ACP mags? if so that is awesome!
-
It depends how full you pack it, I was carrying a lot of weight in my bags, the seams came apart from being crammed so full. The amount of stuff I packed in both of those bags was too much for them, it may serve you fine and I hope it does, I am much harder on my gear than most people I would suspect, if you do not Pack 1000 rounds of 45ACP, two pair of Pro Ears, cleaning kits and 20 Magazines, 4 pistols in your bag it will be fine, myself I bought one that will survive the torture that I put it through, Peace!
-
I have owned 2 of these bags, and sadly they do not last, about 5 months ago I bought this http://www.shootersconnection.com/shootingbag.htm while the price is High, I find it better to buy something once and it lasts a lifetime, Best regards,

gets my stuff to me this week. You guys that carry 1911's, what defense ammo do you recommend? This is my first .45 so I'm pretty lost about that. Federal Hydrashok 230 Grain, I have used it for a few years, excellent carry ammo...

I feel for you, when I got my permit in Florida, something red flagged during the process of obtaining my permit, while 18 drunk and stupid, a friend of mine and myself committed a dine and dash, because we argued with the waitress (etreme Stupidity) anyway nearly 20 years later when i applied for my permit, the state of Florida said there was a "theft" showing on my background, the problem was that it was soo vauge, and the theft appeared to them to be more than a dine and dash, I had to play phone tag with the state of Florida and the court system of the town in Ohio, I grew up in, after my permit was issued that stuff never appeared on my records again?? My point is that you should have no problem as long as you have proof, as you do, Best Of Luck,

The TRS is Blued, My dealer took that picture when the gun was fresh from Les Baer, it is just soaked in oil as baer sends them out, PM me sometime and you can check out my Browns. If I were you I would leave that Baer as is, There is something very special about Les Baer stainless steel pistols, I like yours very much the way it is,

This is my Nighthawk Custom GRP2, it has a naked slide, Ed Brown Bobtail, Ed Brown Beavertail Grip Safety, Ed Brown Slide stop, Ed Brown single side safety,3.0 LB trigger,Fixed Novak's Green front, yellow back and is coated in Diamond Black, Still paying it off, my dealer was kind enough to send me a few pictures of it,I ordered it with a crowned and recessed barrel, that was the only thing not right, after this picture was taken he sent it back and 2 days later he received it back with the proper barrell work. By the looks of it I may just like this one as much as my Kobra Carry, we will see!
-
I cannot reccomend the Bobtail enough, in fact any commander length 1911 for my arsenal will have one,the funny thing is I bought this gun without trying the Bobtail first, against others advice, but I love it, I have a Nighthawk GRP2 coming with the Ed Brown Bobtail and alot of other Ed Brown parts built in it

The Snakeskin on my Kobra Carry is the best grip I can reccomend, While i love the Checkering on my Executive Elite, the snakeskin is something you would have to try yourself, I can shoot all day long and the positive grip is awesome and never rough on my hand, when kimber came out with the Raptor, I had received my New Kobra Carry delivered to a local gun shop the same day, The owner compared My gun to a Raptor he got at the same time, both he and I agreed there was no comparison, please do yourself a favor and try one out, the Snakeskin is a true custom touch and very usefull unlike the copied texture on Kimber's Raptor, by the way Les Baer's are awesome 1911's, I have a Thunder Ranch Special with no front cocking serrations on Layaway as I am writing this, is yours in Stainless or Hard Chrome, I love that pistol the only thing I dislike is the front cockig serrations, but that is just me! Best Regards,
-
I hear you, some people are never happy!
-
They are the best looking, finish, and fitting, the most accurate, reliable and all around the best 1911's I have ever seen, What is there not to like?
-
You will love the Browning, everyone I know that has one does!
