  1. Impartial, definately, the guy owns only semi custom 1911's but has decided that he wants a kimber, he has only been shooting for 2 years, and in all honesty he should be making a living out of his skills with a 1911, I would be extremely curious to see if he can shoot your Smith and Wesson as good, I am not saying he he wont, but alot of hand fitting as opposed to production line work has gone into his and my guns, I would give my left nut to be able to shoot like him, I am more concerned with CQB with my pistols, he likes shooting 30 yards or more, I am telling you the dude is amazing, and a heck of a nice guy to boot, I will have him jump in this thread if I can, here is one target that the guy did with Magtec ammo, I have NEVER seen him shoot with any match ammo only Winchester White Box, Magtec, it would problably make me want to sell all of my guns and find a new hobby if I did! http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9179
  2. I have already told you Kano is your man, when would you like to give it a go??
  3. I used Federal 230 Grain Hydrashok for several years, Recently I got a very good deal online for a case of Remington Golden Saber 230 Grain, after shooting 1000 rounds through my 1911's with zero failures I think I will stick with it, very accurate 45acp ammo
  4. But why would you
  5. So, was he teaching you how to build a Glock????
  6. I actually got to handle a real fullhouse (not Nighthawk) Vickers 1911 a couple of years ago in Baton Rouge La, it was a Colt pretty plain Jane Pistol, I have never wanted to own a pistol soo much in my life, I just could not come up with the $6500.00 asking price that the dealer wanted, I have since never seen another, I would love to own one someday
  7. Very impressive, Larry Vickers is the man
  8. Brent , It shoots excellent, I ran 225 rounds of Remington 230 Grain Golden Saber, it ran flawless and shoots to POA, very accurate on par with my Kobra Carry, the Diamond Black is incredible, I have carried this pistol in a milt sparks VM2 several times and the finish has no marks on it, Im not sure if you can get it on stainless stell or not, but if so I highly reccomend it,
  9. To each their own, that is just not up to the cosmetic standards of a $2000.00 gun, I am no gunsmith either, just an overpaid Submarine pilot, but I am anal about such things as that when I spend that kind of money, look around www.m1911.org if you think that I am the only one with such high standards, I think you will be surprised by how many people besides myself expect the same when shelling out that kind of money on a 1911
  10. We are talking about High end 1911's for that kind of money, I expect perfection, function, accuracy and cosmetics, the gap shown in the photos of this thread is unacceptable in a high end 1911, none of my pistols have it, did the Nighthawk Talon that you saw the other day have that visible of a gap? if so it should not have left their shop that way,
  11. As said before, that is a VERY BOLD statement, how come this Bob Delmore is not featured in any magazines, or on Loader than Words forums? I have never heard of him and neither has google, cant say that about the other smiths that you name here
  12. Finishing of the internal parts has absolutely nothing to do with reliability, It has alot to do with how smooth the action cycles, I compared my Remington 870 HD to a Wilson Combat Scattergun, the difference in the action was night and day, this has nothing to do with reliability, just smooth function of all parts, that is what I was trying to explain anyway, to each their own, I like that kind of stuff
  13. Not on a $2000.00 Custom 1911, at least all of the 1911's I own do not have that gap, the front site is set properly onto the slide, no visible gap to be seen,
  14. He did, and is one of the best Gunsmiths around, and a heck of a nice guy to boot
  15. Yes that happens with every manufacturer from time to time, but all the same I have decided to keep my Les Baer and buy one of those maybe next year, after I pay for my Ted Yost signature grade Colt.
  16. Where is a rifle range close to Madison, that I can shoot my AR-15, 100 to 300 yards is all I am intrested in, I havent shot this thing since I moved here and am very anxious, Thanks

    new dpms .308 AP4

That is a very nice rifle, one of my Co workers just got one a couple of months ago and absolutley loves it, Enjoy
  18. Yea, if I wanted it for hunting I definately would not have went this route, but for home defense it should do the trick
  19. Gentlemen, lets look at it this way, Remington 870( lets face it the best most reliable Pump shotgun in america) $350.00 Vang Comp system $350.00 Sure Fire Light and Small picitanny rail $150.00 Houge accesories $100.00 Tritium Front site $45.00 LPA fully adjustable Ghost Ring rear sight $75.00 Permacoat Sniper Grey coating $350.00 Hand finishing if you have ever seen the internal parts of the 870, they are finished Extremely poorly (all internal parts of the Remington 870)lets say $200 Aluminum Bilet Slug holder 4 Rounds $45.00 Total price $1665.00 All of this put together into one badass Remington 870 Customized and tweeked to perfection Home protection shotgun by Nighthawk Tactical and shipped to me, My cost $1500.00, My dealer gave me over $380.00 off the price of this Shotgun, (good customer discount) I am quite happy about the money I am spending on it thank you very much.
  20. You are right, I hadnt noticed that, you can see it is worse (the Gap) on this pistol
  21. LOL sorry to hear that, I guess you answered your own question, if you are not a good shot no matter how much money you spend on a pistol will rectify that
  22. I like the Ed Browns better,Thats why I keep buying them but my Nighthawk is nice and definately a keeper
  23. It all depends on your budget, if you are looking into STI you should look into Les Baer as well, much better 1911's for the money, congrats on getting rid of the tupperware!!
  24. Guns and Leather has an excellent gunsmith, he can take care of you, reasonable prices as well, they are in Greenbrier if that is not too far for you
